"Wake up! I said, wake up!" A voice yelled out to a boy who was still asleep in his bedsheets, as he mumbles, "Five more minutes!" 

The girl couldn't handle his emotions any longer, as she pulls the sheets from him as to try to wake the boy up. 

"C'mon! We have chores to do! You know how Father is if he discovers we aren't doing them!" She pouts at him as the boy was annoyed by his younger sister's attitude. 

"You really have some nerve, you know that... Nao. " 

Nao puts her hands to her hips as she was mad at her older brother's response. 

The two siblings went downstairs as their father notices them as he set down the newspaper, "Aw, I see you're finally awake, Elias." Their father said, as the boy sat down to the table, "Yeah, thanks to Nao here. She's very persistent. 

You can fight , can't you?"

The young girl looks at her older brother in a confused state, "Are you kidding? Me, fight? No way! There is no possible way that I can fight, besides , Mom fought in the war, didn't she? I wouldn't be like her." 

Their father chuckles at her reply, as he offer some advice to the young siblings. 

"You never know . Fate has some unexplained phonemons that we don't understand. You might have to fight one day , either you like it or not. " He said. 

The two siblings went to the woods to chop off some firewood to last through the winter. 

Elias couldn't stop thinking about what their father had said to them earlier as Nao notices her older brother's expressions. 

"I couldn't stop thinking about what Father said. Do you think he's being a little overprotective of us?" He asks her. 

Nao said, "Of course he's overprotective! Why wouldn't he be?"

Then out of nowhere, the siblings heard an ominous boom through the forest, as Nao rushes through the forest to investigate. 

"Nao, wait! " Elias said, as the older brother tries to catch up to the girl as fast he possibly can. 

Nao didn't actually listened to her older brother's calling, as she notices there was a massive hole deep underground. 

Curiously of what lies down there, she went down of the hole, as something caught her eye, something she never seen before. 

Right in front of the teen, was a red ruby necklace, reflecting in the sunlight. 

Nao was completely mesmerize of the ruby's charms, that her hand touched it lightly without hesitation. 

As she did, a burst of red light came out , as it burns her hand . 

"Ow!" She winced in pain, as she didn't suspect that it would burn her. 

"Nao!" She heard her brother calling her, she quickly grabs the necklace from its resting place and hid it inside her pocket before Elias can see it. 

The boy had finally caught up to her as he said, "There you are! You shouldn't run off like that! It's extremely dangerous." 

"I'm so sorry, I wouldn't do it again." She lied, hoping that Elias wouldn't see what she had hidden. 

That night, she made a bandage on her hand and then took out the ruby necklace . She held it up towards her as she thought in her mind, "What is this, and why is it here?"

Unknowly to her, her humble and ordinary life, her entire existence will never be the same ever again.

Meet Nao and her older brother, Elias. Nao is our main character and there's going to be other characters appearing soon, so I hope that you enjoyed the first chapter.
