34. Time

Nico

I clenched my fists as I saw the multiple deep gashes that Percy had made on Will's arm drip blood onto the marble floor. I caught my boyfriend's eyes, and I snapped "Leave him alone, Percy! Your fight is with me!"

My cousin sighed and turned to face me again, the blade of his scythe now covered in Will's blood.

He took several steps towards me, his eyes like daggers piercing into my soul. "So are you asking me to punish you instead of your sweet Will?"

I lowered my gaze slightly, trying to avoid looking at Will's face directly. "Yes, that's what I'm asking. He doesn't deserve any of this! What has he done to you?!"

Percy's expression darkened and his hand lashed out, grabbing me by my hair and roughly yanking my head up. I couldn't stop a pained gasp from escaping my lips.

"You're seriously telling me that Will Solace has done absolutely nothing to me? Nothing at all?"

I was about to answer, but cried out as Percy tightened his grip on my hair. "Well, then I'll answer your question. He killed my girlfriend, Di Angelo. He killed the love of my life. And for that, he will suffer for it."

Before Will or I could say anything, a cool voice echoed down the hallway. "Will didn't kill the bitch without help."

My eyes widened in shock and relief as I saw Clarisse and another ginger haired female standing in front of us, both of them covered in blood. They both looked exhausted, but had tensed the instant they had seen Percy.

Percy growled something under his breath before releasing his grip on my hair. I sank back down onto my knees, trembling. "More interruptions?"

His eyes landed on the ginger haired girl next to Clarisse, and I saw surprise flicker across his face for a split second before it vanished. A cold smile appeared at the corners of his mouth. "My, what do we have here? Phoebe, you would turn against me? After everything I did for you?"

I stared at the ginger haired girl in disbelief. I remembered the first time I had met Phoebe, and that was when I was first introduced to the world of demigods and Gods.

I knew she had died, her soul had been sent straight to Elysium. So how in the world was she here? Unless.....

Phoebe confirmed my thoughts by saying "Yes, you did bring me back to life and helped me for several years to hone my skills, but I know what you truly are. You're a monster. You slaughter thousands of innocent people just for fun, and you hurt people who really didn't deserve to be hurt."

Percy's eyes narrowed as shadows emerged from the ground underneath his feet, crawling towards Phoebe and Clarisse. "If you didn't approve of what I did, you could just tell me and perhaps I might have listened."

Clarisse snorted and pointed her spear at the King of Olympus. "Might have listened. You wouldn't have changed anything anyways if Phoebe did say something."

Percy tightened his grip on his scythe, his eyes turning pitch black. "Do you remember what I told you, Phoebe, if you were to turn against us?"

The ex-huntress swallowed, but her expression remained impassive and determined. "Yes, I do. But we aren't going down without a fight." Percy grinned as the shadows at his feet shot towards the two girls, coiling around their ankles and knees.

Clarisse gave a shout and thrust her electric spear against the shadow tendril holding her down, making it dissolve into thin air. Phoebe drew two silver hunting knives and sliced through the shadows around her ankles and knees, before charging towards Percy.

The ex-huntress swiped at him, but the demi-primordial ducked before bringing his scythe towards her chest, intending on killing her instantly. Phoebe, luckily, blocked the attack and jumped back, a snarl on her face.

Clarisse had rushed over to Will, who was still being restrained by shadow tendrils. The daughter of Ares cut him free and Will retrieved his sword from the ground.

He then dashed towards me and dropped down beside me, raising his sword and slicing through the celestial bronze chains around my ankles. Once I was free, I got to my feet and hugged the son of Apollo tightly.

"I'm okay." Will said as I grabbed his arm gently to look at the injures he had received from my cousin.

"You heard the man, he's fine! Let's go help Phoebe!" Clarisse shouted as she charged forwards, her spear crackling with electricity. I snatched my sword and followed her towards where Percy and Phoebe were fighting.

I reached the ex-huntress just in time to parry a strike that would have killed her, pushing Percy back a couple steps. He sighed in annoyance before thrusting his hand out, fire blazing to life around us. It formed a large circle, which I realized trapped us in with the King of Olympus.

"I'm going to finish this right here, right now. I've had my fun playing around." Percy said, cracking his knuckles before his scythe disappeared as a bracelet on his wrist. To replace his scythe, two black hunting knives appeared in his hands.

I gripped the hilt of my sword tightly, and suddenly felt a warm hand grip my wrist. I looked back to see Will give me a sad but encouraging smile.

Dread rose up inside of me, and I shook my head as I held back tears. I knew this was it. The final battle.

It's either we kill Percy, or he kills us.

"I'll always be at your side, no matter where we are." Will murmured as his fingers stroked my arm slowly. "Now let's finish this battle once and for all."

I took a shaky breath and managed a smile as my boyfriend let go of my wrist. The four of us fanned out, facing Percy who was standing in the middle with a cold grin on his face.

"Time to get rid of all of you and resume my role as King."

Phoebe's eyes narrowed and she lunged at the King of Olympus again, her knives aimed to stab his chest. Percy dodged, but jumped to avoid a stab from Clarisse's electric spear.

Will and I rushed in, both of us pressing Percy and trying to find an opening to hurt him. But my cousin blocked, dodged, and parried every attack, leaving us extremely frustrated.

Percy kicked Will in the chest, knocking him back and sending him to the floor with a grunt. I turned, and that was the distraction Percy needed for him to hit me in the face with the hilt of his  knife.

I fell to the ground, clutching my broken nose painfully as blood poured from my injury, staining the marble tiles. "Nico!" Will shouted through the ringing in my ears.

I gritted my teeth and sat up to see Phoebe and Clarisse still fighting against Percy as best as they could. But I could tell that they were losing the battle due to the multiple wounds Percy had already inflicted on them.

"I-I'm fine." I said, climbing to my feet and looking around for my sword, which had been sent flying after I had been hit. I spotted it a couple feet away and rushed towards it, but something wrapped around my ankle and pulled me down.

I growled when I saw that it was a shadow tendril, and I stretched my arm out to try and reach my sword. But before I could grab it, I was yanked back and thrown into someone.

I looked up to see Phoebe look at me with surprise, and she was about to say something when her eyes widened in shock and horror. I glanced down to see the tip of a scythe protruding from her stomach.

"Phoebe!" I screamed just as the scythe was removed and the ex-huntress fell limply to the ground, blood pooling around her at an alarming rate. Furious, I whirled around to see Percy standing behind Phoebe's fallen body, a smile on his face.

"Y-You just killed her!" I shouted.

Percy shrugged as he pressed his thumb against the blood on his scythe, the smile never leaving his face. "I know. I told her that I would if she would ever defect to your side. And I keep my promises."

Growling, I shot to my feet and charged at my cousin, intending to tackle him and bring both of us down to the ground.

But I wasn't prepared for the scythe that was going to stab me right in the face.
