Prompt: Roman x Reader AU

Everyone in the kingdom knows that Prince Roman's birthday is near and a massive amount of females, males and nonbinaries try to go all out with gifts to bring either out of obligation or in hopes of becoming the prince's significant other. However, the reader goes for a different approach and decides to give a gift in the form of instructions and a map leading to a special garden filled with comforting isolation and a menagerie of flowers, because she has observed on random occasions that he likes flowers and she just wants him to be happy. She's anxious to point where she just drops off both papers and leaves to the garden for comfort. Roman somehow notices both papers amongst the gifts and lets both the map and instructions lead him. He explores the garden and finds her and guesses she was the one whom the gift was from. She's surprised that he's there and explains that she goes there to briefly escape stress (something he can relate to). He hugs her thanking her for, not just the gift, but the feeling of being heard and they just wander around the garden together.

'Dear Prince Roman,

Happy Birthday, I hope you have fun today.
I have given you a gift at the end of the path, I've provided a map to lead you to where the destination is, there you will see it.'

The map had to lead the Prince over to the side of the forest in their kingdom, which was on the other side of where civilization lived, but close to where Y/n lived on her own.

Even though Prince Roman Sander's birthday isn't tonight or the next night, it was actually later this week everyone in the kingdom was to give the royal something, Many also attempt to give things so that one day the Prince might want them to be his significant other, The Prince doesn't mind what gender his significant other would be since he loves any and all genders.

Y/n only wanted to make Roman happy and she doesn't get her hopes up.

The Prince wouldn't want someone to annoy them, so why shall thee choose me?

Y/n sighed and started walking over to the palace, grabbing hold onto the papers inclosed in an envelope. It wasn't far, but it wasn't close either.

That was all Y/n felt, she have nothing to be guilty about, she was just walking to the Royals castle, 

Y/n was always like this, she would feel anxious when going anywhere, She see's the high castle coming up on the horizon 

Y/n felt the urge to turn back and run away,

But she fought with that urge, it wasn't for long

All the 'What if' questions were rapid-fire shooting at her, Her breathing was being manually controlled, and she was shivering. It was a warm afternoon  

She needed to calm down so she let go of whatever was in her hands and ran, she ran to the garden where it was supposed to be Roman's gift.

The pages in an envelope laid on the ground and was swept up by the wind, being carried to the palace.

"Ah, What a beautiful day!"

"Good morning Prince Roman,"

"Good morning Maggie, How's the day today?" Maggie was the maid that helped Roman majority of the time

"A lovely sunny morning and afternoon, Clear nights, perfect for Star-gazing if you do wish" Maggie opened the window letting in the warm air,

"Thank you," Roman started getting ready for the day, it was special today he was hosting a celebration for his birthday which was coming up.

Roman got into his new Prince Outfit ready for what the day might bring him.

"Maggie, Open the doors please" Maggie nodded and told the other's that the Prince was ready, all the doors were opened and soon the ballroom flooded with people and gifts.

Roman walked outside to greet some of the citizens and Thank them for coming, he noticed an envelope just lying on the ground and it seemed important since it had a wax stamp seal. He picked it up and flipped it over to see that it was addressed to him,

He walked back into the palace and opened it without anyone snooping, 

'Dear Prince Roman,

Happy Birthday, I hope you have fun today.
I have given you a gift at the end of the path, I've provided a map to lead you to where the destination is, there you will see it.'

There was no signature on it but he decided to travel where the map told him too, He told one of the other maids that he was going out.

He rode on his trusty horse Phillip over to where the map told him to.

The sound became louder, Y/n was sitting on a bench in the garden as the sun was setting.

Trip, trop, trip, trop.

"Y/n?"

She heard her name being called behind her so she turned her head to see that Prince Roman was on his horse,

"P-prince Roman, I-Hello" Y/n stood up and bowed to show her respect, then sat back on the bench

"Hello, Are you the one who had addressed a letter to me?"

"Yes," Roman got off his horse and walked closer to where Y/n was,

"Why might you be here in the first place?" Roman asked while sitting next to Y/n

"I usually come here when I'm feeling anxious or just need some time alone" A small spread of blush was on her face.

"I have those feeling too," Roman looked over to the beautiful garden and the setting sun behind it,

"This is a magnificent place"

"Yeah..."

"One of my favourite things are these types of flowers" Roman smiled,

"I know"

"How? No one else in the kingdom knows about this information"

"I've paid attention,"

"Well, Thank you," Roman hugged her,

"For both this gift of a view and for understanding me"

"N-no problem Prince-"

"You can just call me Roman"

Y/n nodded and they both started to explore more into the garden, getting closer to the edge of the forest,

It was starting to get dark, so they both laid on the soft grass and looked up at the elegant night sky filled with stars.

It was time to head back to the castle and Roman helped Y/n get back to her little house, Roman rode back to the palace on Phillip who was patiently waiting for him where the bench was.

"Good evening Roman, welcome back," Maggie said while cleaning up

"Good evening Maggie, and thank you."

"Any updates?"

"Yes, I think I've found my true love" Roman smiled,
