Sailing Across the Sea
After everyone had woken up, had something that had resembled breakfast and packed the tents up they were off, walking towards the coast once again. They talked about random things like their lives before the war, their likes and dislikes and told funny stories. They avoided the topic of the war.
Michael decided it was finally time to ask Sebastian and Maddy if they wanted to come to San Francisco with them. "I was wondering, before Mia and I were captured we were heading to a safe place for orphaned kids no matter what side they are on and I wanted to ask if you wanted to come with us?" The other three stopped and stared at him, Mia with a happy grin hoping her new friends would say yes.
"Well... I have no where else to go so yeah, I'll come, where is this safe haven of yours?" Sebastian shrugged
"Em, well... San Francisco in America" Michael replied conscious of how stupid it sounded.
"Big journey, I am definitely coming if it means getting away from here" Sebastian had a grin to match Mia's.
Throughout this conversation Maddy had stayed silent, with a thoughtful expression plastered across her face. Only know that they were finished talking did everyone turn to look at her. Michael pitied her slightly knowing how unnerving it was for everyone to stare at you like that.
"I will come." The other three had huge smiles that threatened to split their faces. "But only to protect you three punks." She carried on trying to prove she hadn't gone soft.
With that decided they continued to walk to the coast eagerly awaiting their new life they hoped to lead.
Just after midday the coast was in sight, the only problem they had now was finding a boat.
Luckily they were in a small coastal town that would hopefully have something. They split up into pairs with Sebastian and Mia in one group searching all the coastal houses and Maddy and Michael searching the port.
A couple of hours later they met up in the town centre.
"All we found at the port was some fuel, did you find anything."
"Well, in one of the houses there was a bunch of more supplies and we found an old garage, guess what was inside a yacht big enough to fit six people, but it needs more fuel, so how about Sebastian and I fill the boat with supplies while you too love birds get the fuel, here I will write down the address down." Mia explained ignoring the annoyed "hey" from the two so called love birds.
Four hours later as the sun was setting, four very tired kids sat in an abandoned yacht, looking down the ramp into the near endless sea.
"We will set off tomorrow so get a good night's sleep, wait I just thought of something can anyone actually drive a boat?" Michael asked slightly panicked at the end hoping all their hard work wasn't for nothing.
"I can." Maddy said, she went to explain seeing the questioning looks." One of my foster parents was a sailor he taught me how to sail all kind of boats, but it didn't work out so I went back to the orphanage, I think I still remember how to."
"You think?" Michael exclaimed.
In answer she simply shrugged, sighing Michael told everyone to go to sleep on the beds in the yacht.
The next morning everyone worked together to push the boat down the ramp into the water, after checking for any damage obviously.
Soon enough Maddy was sailing the yacht, Michael navigated trying to get them to France where they could refill and the two younger kids playing games on the deck.
All four were excited with the fact that they were heading to a new life.
Sailing Across the sea.
