It had taken the four of them three long days to cross the English Channel because they had to take the long route and hide a couple of times from war ships(either side, it didn't matter both would be horrible to run, I mean sail, into).

When they finally reached the small town of Etretat on the north coast of France. Like Britain most of France was abandoned, destroyed or being used as army camps.

The first thing the four did when they reached land was collapse. Sebastian, Michael laughed to himself, looked like he was about to kiss the ground, cunningly enough it turned out the mischievous boy got very sea sick.

Michael and Maddy decided they would hide the boat, try and find more fuel and other supplies, have a good night's sleep then set sail round the west coast of Europe, stopping once or twice to find supplies then sail to America.

Only it didn't happen like that. Not even in the slightest.

You see Etretat wasn't as abandoned as they thought. Michael was perched on the roof of a house overlooking the town and coast playing look out while Maddy hid the boat and Mia and Sebastian scavenged for any remaining supplies in the nearby shop. Out of nowhere a sound not unlike a heard of elephants found it's way to Michael's ear. He had peaked down from the roof only to discover a group of about a dozen men. With Talon uniforms. This is bad Michael's mind had a mini panic attack, if they find any of you, they will kill you with no mercy. Calm yourself... deep breaths...In... Out. Michael gingerly climbed down the ladder back into the grey and dusty house, sneaked down the old and creaky staircase and rushed silently out the doorway.

He grabbed Maddy first. He explained about the soldiers and together they snuck round to the shop to find Mia and Sebastian. They found the pair in the back of the shop looking through boxes. Again Michael explained the situation while Maddy looked out a small gap in case the soldiers came in.

The door was banged open as the soldiers walking into the shop still talking. Michael didn't understand anything they were saying.

"Quickly out the back entrance!" Sebastian whispered as loud as he dared.

The four rushed out the back door, but not before Mia knocked over a shelf. A loud Bang! Rang out through the shop. All four kids froze, Mia with a guilty look on her face.

The soldiers stopped talking immediately. One of them appeared through the small gap and stared right into Michael's terrified eyes. He shouted something to the other soldiers. Michael may have not understood what was said but he got the idea.

"Time for plan B." Michael announced quietly.

"Plan B?" Whispered Maddy trying to hide how scared she was.

"Yeah, plan B. Run!" With those final words the four sprinted out the backdoor with their backpacks on their backs and ran to the nearby forest hoping to lose the dozen burly, angry enemy soldiers running behind them.
