Chapter 3:The Forest of No Color

I gave Jynx an "I am not amused" look. Kludd rolled his small eyes. Jynx just laughed to the point where she was gasping.

"Okay... Okay..." she heaved, still chuckling, "I'm done. Go to sleep now."

I scoffed and buzzed toward a tree with a large hole in it. I climbed inside and pulled out my favorite blanket from the small backpack I had. I quickly covered myself as I shivered. I was definitely not used to the forest, not even outside for that matter. I was so cold.

It seemed as though no one else was affected by it though. Everyone was snoring away and some even complained it was too hot when they woke up to get a drink. Then why was it so cold for me? I didn't know.

I shivered again and curled up into a tight ball. It took a while, but I finally fell asleep.

I woke up in a densely covered, fog filled forest. I glanced around at my surroundings. This definitely wasn't the forest the group and I were camped in. The trees were too thick and they went up high, high enough to go through the clouds. Though, what unsettled me the most, was the fact that everything was its own shade of grey. It looked as if no color ever existed in this foggy forest, which to this day, I call the Forest of No Color.

I didn't understand what was going on, and it horrified me. Hundreds of possible ways I could die ran through my mind. Getting attacked by a monster, falling in an invisible cavern, starving. I walked ahead to see if I could escape this nightmarish forest. I stepped in a puddle and squeaked at the splash. I looked down into the clear water to find my reflection. I still had all of my normal colors, save for the black. The area where I hid the glittering sapphire necklace was glowing. I took out the blue amulet and stared at it for a few seconds. I continued walking until a blinding light came from the sapphire. That's when I heard the noise.

It was a low humming at first, which I originally blamed on the wind, but it was getting increasingly louder as the sapphire got brighter. I looked around. The sound was surely not coming from the sapphire. It was coming from the trees. Soon I was hearing thumping along with the loud humming.

"I wanna go home!" I screamed. "I want to go home!"

It somehow worked. Right as the thing was about to get me, I disappeared out of the forest. The only glimpse I got of it were black wings, blacker than the void of space. They glowed a menacing red as it savagely clawed at my already gone body.

I woke up, gasping for air. My eyes darted around, searching for any remnants of the forest. There were none. I was back in the tree hollow I climbed in and I heard the rest of the group yawning. I thanked the creator for taking me back to the real world safely.

Lookie and Jynx walked over to my hollow when they heard me gasping. Jynx just looked at me with a confused face while Lookie wad ready to launch at the slightest noise.

"Are you okay?" Jynx asked.

"Yeah... I'm fine... Just a nightmare," I replied.

Jynx nodded and Lookie calmed down a bit. I sighed, then went over to the food pile Kludd must have collected earlier in the morning. Lookie followed and tore into a piece of raw meat. I was disgusted. He didn't even want it cooked.

There wasn't much food I liked, so I went to a small flower patch and picked a few. I found a small bowl in my backpack as well and used that to carry the nectar I squeezed out of the flowers. Now this is what I call a breakfast, I silently thought.

After squeezing every last drop of nectar from the flowers, I proceeded to drink it. It was delicious!

Anyhow, I finished and Kludd flew up to a low hanging tree branch.

"Hey! This is a good place for hunting and clean water! We should stay here a while!" he called.

Everyone else agreed and continued doing what they were doing. I sat down and began to ponder about the events of my dream. I didn't think I would forget it too soon.
