The Truth Untold and Looking Only Directly At You (25)
Derek's POV:
Time skip of 2 weeks.
Jade's birthday is coming, and I'm currently at a jewellery, she told me that someone stole the necklace I gave her like two years ago, it was a unique design, I hired someone to create it, so she couldn't find it in any other place, I still have the design, so I'm gonna buy it again for her, but with better materials, this time.
"Mister, the necklace will be ready in approximately two days" the man in the counter tells me.
"Great, I need to pay half of it, right?" I ask.
"Yes" he says, and I pull out my debit card.
"Half of it will be 2 millions, do we agree?" he nods.
"Exactly, mister. When we have it done, we will call you" he gives me the data phone, and I enter my code.
"All right" he gives me the card.
"Do you want a voucher copy?" he asks me.
My phone bleeps, indicating the purchase made.
"No, thanks. I will be pending, thanks so much" I shake his hand and head out of the store.
I'm walking to the car park where I left my Harley, when a black van arrives near and closes my path, I instantly take the razor out of my jacket pocket.
"Calm down, pretty boy" I hear a deep familiar masculine voice.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I ask.
"What the hell am I doing here? Being loyal to your father as you should" he answers, and I scoff.
"My father's dead" I cross my arms, with the razor still in my hand.
"The soul of my brother is still in you" my uncle tells me.
"No, man, you're nuts" I answer to him.
"Go inside the van" he commands me.
"I beg your pardon?" my tone is offended, "I walked out of that life to never enter again"
"Listen here, little twerp" he takes my arm aggressively.
"Leave me the fuck alone, Gregory" I warn him, pushing him back.
"Derek, Derek, Derek" someone from behind me said, I instantly recognized the voice I wished I have never heard in my life, "I'm so disappointed for you, honey".
"As you can see, nephew, I didn't come alone, and it's time for you to understand that you were born into this world, and nothing that you do, will ever change that" he said squeezing my shoulder.
"What do you want?" I ask while sighing.
"Dump the Silver whore" my mother answers and my fists are already closed with great intensity.
"Leave her out of this" I tighten my jaw, "and don't you dare be calling her like that".
"Her father owes us money or a life" Gregory explains, "dump her, or she will end up in a dumpster".
"But she hates her father!" I instantly grew worried about Jade.
"So what? They are still family, they share the same blood, and we want to see Silver blood" I think I just turned pale as my mother smirks, "that chick turned you into a softie" she gives me a hard pat on my cheek.
"I don't want to break up with her" I glance at my motorcycle, "she is my everything".
"Well, get ready to bury everything, son. Or she lives in public humiliation after being dumped in national television after the karate tournament where you will participate".
"Think about it, nephew, and remember, don't try to tell her our plans, or I'll personally rip off each one of her fingers and make you hear her screams until she passes out of pure pain" he hops into the van, accompanied by Julie.
She looks at me once more.
"Look what love makes to you" she says and closes the door and the van drives away.
I feel trapped, like a stupid slave, once again my family has the opportunity to screw up my life, and they are taking it.
I wish we could just live happily ever after. Not running from martial artists to mafia leaders, why this happens to us?
I can't let Jade die, but I can't dump her, nor can I tell her the truth.
She hates secrets, she hates lies, I'm going to lie to her, I'm gonna be a liar, she will hate me, everything in my life will fall apart.
No, this can't be happening, this needs to be a nightmare, the worst of them, this is a product of my imagination.
I'm only thinking about how I will hurt her, her feelings are gonna get crushed, her heart is going to break into a million pieces, she will fall again into an addiction, she will be an addict to those mortal things, her heart hasn't totally healed, and it won't have any rest.
My head starts to feel dizzy, and that's when I notice that I'm hyperventilating, I can't pass out here, I try to calm down, I can't have a panic attack here, I can't have a stable relationship, I can't have a stable mind, I can't have a stable family, I can't have a stable life with the girl I love.
Tory's POV:
"Tory" I hear my mom's voice in the other room, I wipe out my tears and leave the leather jacket on my bed, not without sniffing at it, remembering this same essence in the girl I love, because after I lost her, and lost our future, I came to that realization, I love Jade, and I always did, I was afraid of being heartbroken as I was with Miguel, so I kept denying my feelings, and having a mess of them inside my head.
Another tear freely escapes my eye, I got up and walked to my mom's room, she has been better fortunately, she is able to walk little distances without needing to carry the big machine.
"Were you calling me, mom?" I ask.
"Tory, you are gonna dehydrate if you keep crying senseless and restless all your life" she scolds me.
"I can't help it, it still hurts, mom" I make a frown.
"Tory, you need to get over it" my mom looks at me in the eye, "you fucked it up, you really fucked it up, there is nothing you can do about it, unless rewind time and tell her the truth since the beginning" I'm surprised by her language.
"Maybe I could try talking to her, at least we could be friends"
"Didn't she told you that she wanted space?"
"Yeah, yeah, but"
"Tory, honey, you should start thinking more about what she wants than what you want, remember that she told you that you only thought about yourself, if you want another chance, at least change that, and maybe she will change her mind about you"
The word maybe crushed my already broken heart, but at least it's a possibility.
"Yeah, possibly you are right, thank you, mom" I smile sadly at her.
"How's everyone doing at the dojos?" She asks, trying to change the subject.
"I guess good, our credibility is on the floor, so I think that that's why we are all together, it's like we no longer have a reason to keep fighting" I shrug.
"That was a good thing, I was tired of you coming home all bruised up, and with probation" she chuckled
"I still have the entrances to the tournament, think you are able to go with me?" I ask her, I had two entrances, as Jade bought them, so we could go together, for a strange reason we needed to buy them, even if we were gonna participate, I remember that they were on one of the pockets of the jacket.
"I don't think so, I'm stable, but I don't know, honey" she answered, smiling sadly at me.
"All right, got it"
"Why don't you go with Tyler?"
"I think he kinda hates me, because he swore that his sister was dating a celebrity, and later they called him a liar, as he told them that Jade will go and visit them at school, as I heard a lot of his classmates had little crushes on her, oh, also he said that we were gonna get married" I sigh, "but we all know how that ended up" a little tear tries to go out of of my eye.
"We never know what the future has for us, you should tell Tyler, tell him she is gonna be there, she would love to go" she gave me a reassuring smile.
"I will try" I kiss her forehead and head out of the room to my brother's, where I knock on the door.
"I don't want to look at you!" He shouts.
"Ty, come on, you can't be mad at me all your life"
"Watch me doing it!"
"Kiddo, open the door, you can see Jade once again" he immediately opened the door.
"Really? How?" He had a glint in his eyes and I chuckled.
"You are looking at me, Tyler"
"Oh, dang it" he pouted.
I opened my arms.
"Give me a hug, and I'll tell you where you can see Jade" he made a frown, he used to hug me a lot, until the incident, he said that he wasn't gonna give me any hug until I apologized for real to Jade.
"You haven't apologized to her yet" he crossed his arms.
"I will do it, this is just a trailer for giving me force"
"Ugh, alright" he hugged me reluctantly, but later hugged me tighter.
"I missed you, kiddo" I hugged him more.
"I missed you too, sis" he sobbed a little, "and I miss her"
"Believe me, I do it too" I hugged him and a little tear escaped.
"Then let's go with her! You told me of a place where I could see her again" he broke the hug.
"Yes, the TV"
"Tory!" He hit me in the arm and pouted.
"I'm kidding, I have entrances to the tournament, would you like to go and see how she kicks everyone's butt?" I ask him, he nods like a crazy man.
"Yes, absolutely yes!" He grinned like he does in Christmas.
"Then, it's a sibling's plan!" I offered my fist to him, he bumped it.
"Hey, let's go for an ice cream" I told him.
"Yay!" He exclaims, while we exit the apartment, not before telling mom where we were gonna be.
Jade's POV:
I'm worried sick about Derek, he told me that he was gonna go to buy some groceries and some things he needed to buy, so I didn't offer to go with him. We are already in LA, California, for the tournament.
There had passed like 3 hours, and he hasn't appeared yet, what if something happened to him?
While I'm thinking about all the bad possibilities, he opens the door.
I run to hug him.
"Derek, oh my god, I was so worried about you" I broke the hug, he didn't correspond.
"I'm okay, don't worry" he says, dismissing me.
"Oh, alright, I was thinking we could go out and eat something, what do you...?" I'm interrupted by the sound of the door shutting closed, "or not" I sigh, what's wrong with him? He always greets me with a hundred kisses.
I knock on the door to ask him if he wants to eat something.
"I'm full" he says, his voice lack of emotion at all.
That's not normal.
"Derek, baby, you alright?"
"Leave me alone, Jade, I want nothing from you" his words stabbed my heart.
Maybe he is tired...
Yeah, he is fucking tired of you.
No, no, no, get the hell out of my head.
Why? Didn't you miss me?
You know you did, opposite of Derek, who never missed you, only came back because of pity.
He loves me, and I love him, that's all what matters.
Come on, Jade, accept it. He doesn't want your love anymore, he wants nothing from you. Didn't you hear him? At least he lasted longer than the 2 hours Tory liked your pathetic ass, because let's be real, that was the only thing she liked about you, don't you remember? Let's see if your memory starts to work.
'I just wanted to fuck you! You are just good for being a fucking pretty face! Why do you think everybody has a crush on you? Because they want to have sex with you!'
I touch my head, tying to liberate from this devil that hadn't appeared in a while.
No, no, I'm very likable, I'm worthy of love, I'm Jade Silver, I have extra confidence, I'm a goddamn narcissist, I trust my self, lots of people trust me. I inhale and exhale, controlling my self, when I already calmed down, I don't hear the voice anymore.
So, decided, I knock on Derek's door and enter.
"Derek, please tell me what is going on" he looks at me and I see sadness reflected in his eyes.
"I can't, Jade, leave me alone, please" he says, shutting his eyes, he knows I can read him through them.
"I just want to help" I say, trying to touch his hand.
"You can't, now go" he quickly moves his hand, the farthest away from me.
"I know something's up, please tell me" I say to him, basically I'm pleading.
"We need a break" he blurts out, emotionless, and the sound of my broken heart is the only sound that I can hear in the room.
"What?" I manage to mumble.
"We require a break, Jade" he sighs, "I saw this hot girl at a café and I hooked up with her, just for you to know" he shrugs.
I send a hard slap to his face.
"How could you do that, Derek?" I sob a little, "I thought that you loved me" he rolls his eyes.
"So, about the break?" He taps his foot on the floor.
"I'm breaking up with you" I say, I quickly exit the room, take all my keys and head out of that fucking apartment.
Why's everyone so fucking fake? I just wanted a happy relationship, is that so much for asking for?
For your dumb and unlovable ass, yes it is.
I need to eat something, between been worried about that asshole and trying to not hear that voice, I missed lunch.
I pass in front of an ice cream shop, ice cream is one of my favorite things on this planet.
I put on the hood and decided to enter, maybe this will cheer me up.
I'm at the end of the line, just trying to put an order in my head, when I see some familiar golden locks, and a little brunette. I looked directly at the floor.
I think I choked on air, as I started coughing so damn hard.
"Hey, are you alright, girl?" The all too familiar voice asks.
I up my head, and she gasps.
"No, at any sense, but thanks for asking" I say and head out of the ice cream shop, I start to walk as fast as I can, until some tears starts to blind me.
"Jade, Jade, wait!" I hear from behind me.
Keep walking, Jade.
"Jadey!" Now it's a high-pitched and manly voice.
"Tyler, I'm not in the mood!" I shout and keep walking. Until a firm grasp stops me in my tracks.
"Jade, tell me what's wrong" she says breathlessly.
"Everything in my life is falling apart, once again" I look into her hazel eyes, and she looks into mine.
"Take a coffee with me, and we could talk about it" she says.
"I don't want to talk to you" I answer.
"You are talking to me" she says, and I chuckle sadly.
"Just one cup" her eyes light up, and she smiled.
"Alright, it's a deal" she takes my hand, and we return to where Tyler is.
Third-Person POV:
"Hey, Jadey" Tyler greeted, Jade just gave him a sad smile.
"Hey, kiddo" she said, and continued walking mindless to the coffee shop, going faster than the Nichols's siblings.
"What's wrong with her?" Tyler whispered to his sister.
"I have no idea" Tory answered to him.
"Are you gonna apologize?" he asked.
"I'll try" Tory sighs, while they continue walking.
"Try fast, she worries me" he says mimicking Tory's action.
They arrived and Jade was still walking.
"Jade, we already arrived" Tory said and Jade just glanced at her, her eyes completely lack of emotion.
"Okay" she muttered, and entered the coffee shop.
"Hi, my name's Callie and I'll be your waitress" a teenager with blue-green eyes and black hair said, to the visitors that sat down, "what would you like this lovely day?" she asked, with a bright smile.
"Mmm, hi, I would like a latte" Tory glanced at Jade, who just stared at a wall.
"A chocolate milkshake" Tyler answered, briefly checking out the waitress.
"Would you like something?" Callie asked Jade, who looked at her, and continued to stare at the wall.
"Bring her a light coffee, three sugars" Tory answered, Callie nodded and eyed worriedly at Jade.
"Sure, be back in a sec" she answered and went to the coffee maker.
"Jade" Tory tried calling her, she didn't answer, she was in a sort of trance.
"Jade" Tyler tried waving his hand in front of her, she didn't blink at all.
"Jadelyn Diamond Silver?" Tory used her full name, knowing it annoyed the 'shit out of her' as she exclaimed once.
Jade looked briefly at Tory, she had a golden color on her eyes.
"Yeah?" she said, but it came out more as a whisper.
"I'm sorry" Tory said.
"You shouldn't be" Jade said with her monotone voice, "I completely understand" she returned her gaze to the wall, as it was the most interesting thing ever.
"What?" Tory said confused.
"I would have done the same thing if I needed to" she replied, "but, I would have told the person" she shrugged, "that's just me, you have a completely different mind"
"Jade. I'm sorry for not telling you the truth, for giving you fake hope, but what I am most sorry about is for denying the immeasurable quantity of love that I had for you" Jade glanced once again at her, a little glint in her eyes appeared, but it was removed as fast as it appeared.
"Love doesn't do anything good for you, I learned it already" she had her monotone voice once again.
"No, Jade, love is one of the most important things that you can have in the world" Tory replied.
"Love is a bitch" Jade answered, sounding slightly annoyed.
"Yes it is, but it's the magic on it" Jade scoffed.
"Stupid fucking magic" Jade cursed.
Callie arrived with the beverages and a piece of cake.
"We didn't order cake" Tory answered.
"It's for sugar this girl's life" Callie answered, Jade glanced at her.
"Thanks" she said.
"Don't worry about that, turn that frown upside down" she said and Jade chuckled slightly.
"I'll try" Callie smiled at her and continued to serve other tables.
"How did she...?" Tory was amazed by Jade's mood swing.
"I broke up with Derek" Jade sighed, "I got cheated and humiliated" a tear rolled down her face, "he didn't care" she gulped loudly, "I can't do this anymore" she said and got up, leaving a hundred dollars on the table.
"Jade, wait!" Tory shouted, "Tyler, stay in here with the cute waitress" she said and run to where Jade ran off.
She scanned the area, searching for her, she couldn't find her. She stood there some minutes, trying to figure out where did she go.
"Come on, Tory, think" she looked everywhere, until she knew where Jade probably headed to.
She started to run with all her forces, wasting every single bit of energy storage in her body.
Jade, meanwhile, received a call, she instantly grew angry at the call ID.
"What the fuck do you want, asshole?" she said, answering.
"Jade, trust me, this was for the better" he answered quickly.
"I don't trust any word that comes out of your mouth, Derek"
"I know you don't, but it was this, or leaving you in front of everyone that was watching TV"
"What do you mean?" she said, entering the place.
"I can't tell anything else" he sighed.
"Things of archery?" Jade asked while grabbing her food.
"Things of archery" he answered.
"Good luck" she said, immediately taking the hint.
"I need to tell you something else..."
Tory almost fell taking a turn, but she was close enough to the place.
She looked to the window and in fact she was there, cup of noodles in her hand, coffee in the other, she was pocketing her phone. Tory sighed in relief and entered the 7-Eleven.
"Thought you weren't gonna find me" she said while taking a sip of the soup.
"I know you, Jade" she said breathless, "and that's how I knew that something was off today"
"Well, it's not easy dealing with a broken heart close to your birthday" she said, drinking her favorite beverage.
"Who were you talking to?" Tory asked.
"No one important now" Jade answered.
"What if I help you out healing that heart?" Tory asked hopeful, and returning to the original topic, "You could heal faster if you accept my apology"
Jade chuckled slightly.
"I accept your apology Tory" she smiled softly at her, "and I love you too, no matter how hard I try not to do it"
"Maybe you could stop trying?" Tory looked at Jade straight in the eye.
"I'll try not to try, if that makes any sense" Jade smiled and got up, she caressed Tory's cheek.
Tory returned that smile.
"Aren't you tired? Take a sit, Nichols" Jade said, quoting some of the words they interchanged when they met.
Tory chuckled, remembering those distant times.
"Only if you pay for my salad" she said, Jade rolled playfully her eyes.
"Alright, but you need to go on a date with me, to Golf 'n Stuff"
"Can we skip the part where I got beat?"
"Can we skip the part where this wasn't a deal?"
"Can we skip the part of the teasing from Aisha?"
"Can we skip the part when I hurt you and my instability?"
"Can we skip the part when I was an asshole to you?"
"Can we skip your jealousy, mine and Samantha's?"
"Can we skip your addiction to those things?"
"Can we skip the part when I found out and let you aroused and mad?"
"Can we skip the part where you scammed everyone?"
"Hell no, that shit was necessary" Tory and Jade chuckled.
"Can we skip the part where we broke up?" Tory asked, Jade looked at her, smiling a little.
"Can we skip our horrible fate?" Jade and Tory looked at each other.
"I think we ran out of parts to skip" Tory whispered, getting closer to Jade.
"Then let's start a new one" Jade said and closed the space between them, interlocking their lips, Tory could feel once again the coffee-flavored kisses that she received every day, and Jade could feel that it was the right person the one she was kissing, and she could reaffirm that she was worthy of love and be loved back.
Derek was right through the call, Jade was better with the bad girl Tory, and Tory's heart was safe with the heartbreaker Jade, it's the magic and irony of love.
A rough diamond needs to be hit a lot of times and go through a hard and complex process for it to be formed as the precious pearl it is, and that was Jade's case. She needed to grow as a person, and change her life and people on it, to become the diamond she was meant to be since she was born into the world she once hated, but now at least tolerated, as it has the only person she loved for real, Tory Nichols.
