Ruby

It wasn't long before I found my costume in the right size once Weiss and I got to the costume shop. Heck, even Weiss found a nice costume to wear. It wasn't anything too crazy, just a white Wizard costume. As we were only a few blocks away from my house, I got a call from Yang. "Yes Yang?"

"Hey sis! I just thought of something, since you're kinda on the job all the time now I was wondering if." Yang started to finish the sentence but I laughed a bit. "Hey, what's so funny?"

"I already know where this is going, and Weiss already bought a costume. We're almost back to my house." I replied and glanced at Weiss who was smiling.

"Oh, okay! Good, see you tonight!" Yang said excitedly and my eyes went wide.

"Wait, tonight?! It's the 31st already?" I asked and froze in place.

"Yeah, didn't you know? Geez sis you've really lost track of time. Oh yeah, Happy!" Yang started to say again but I hung up.

"Annnd that's enough of that, she was about to go on a rant." I said and glanced at Weiss who seemed unconvinced.

"Are you suuure? Sounded like she was saying happy." She said and I mumbled under my breath and looked away. "What was that?"

"Nothing! Come on let's just...hurry and get back. Apparently I lost track of time and it's already the 31st."

Weiss looked at me confused. "Wait, you didn't know that? You know your scroll has the date displayed on it right?"

"Uhhhh, I kinda don't pay attention to that most most of the time." I said and chuckled nervously as we walked up to my front door and got the key out of my pocket and unlocked the door, opening it.

Weiss was giving me a blank stare when I turned around to help her with her bags from shopping. "Seriously, how can you be so aware about everything but the date apparently."

I shrugged and helped her get all the stuff inside. "I don't know, it just kinda slipped my mind is all."

"Riiiight, so how long do we have to just relax?" She asked and I looked at the clock on the wall by the door.

"Umm, I'd say about seven or eight hours." I replied and she nodded.

"In that case, I'm assuming you have a shower I could use?" Weiss asked and I nodded.

"It's upstairs, first door on the left." I replied and she nodded, heading upstairs while I made my way into the kitchen to get something to eat.

"Hm, I guess I should make Weiss something too...she's probably really hungry." I said and opened the fridge to see what I had. "Guess it's sandwiches for lunch." I said and began putting together two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. "Ahhh, classic. Can't go wrong with and old school."

A few minutes had past and I was enjoying my little lunch as I heard Weiss come down from upstairs. "Weiss! I made you a quick lunch, I'm in the kitchen!" I called out.

"Okay! Thanks Ruby, I'll be there in a minute!" Weiss called back and soon came in wearing a fresh set of clothes. "What'd you make me?"

"A classic PB and J." I replied and Weiss giggled. "Whaaaat? Can't go wrong with a classic."

Weiss smiled, shaking her head slightly and sat next to me. "No I guess you can't. Thanks Ruby."

"You're welcome, I'm probably gonna take a nap on the couch in a bit." I said and soon finished up my sandwich and then looked through the fridge for something to drink. I took a water out of the fridge and handed one to Weiss as well. "You promise to wake me?"

"Of course, I can't exactly find my way to your sisters house without you." Weiss said, taking the water and opening it, taking a sip.

"Thanks, we probably need to be out around 6:30 or 7:00 pm." I said and checked the clock, seeing it was close to 1:00 pm.

"Kinda late don't you think?" Weiss asked and I simply shrugged in reply.

"That's just the time Yang likes everyone being there." I said and yawned softly, stretching my arms up in the air.

"Okay, as long as I'm with you I know I'm safe." Weiss said and couldn't help but smile at her.

"Just wake me up in a few hours." I said and rolled my eyes playfully and then went to the couch and laid down, closing my eyes and soon falling asleep.

Time Skip: 5:45 pm

"Ruby? Ruby it's time to wake up." I heard a voice say, piecing through my sleep and I groaned softly, slowly opening my eyes and seeing Weiss's face.

"Ehhh? What time is it?" I asked and yawned softly, rubbing my eyes gently. Once I opened my eyes fully I noticed Weiss was already fully dressed in her costume.

"It's 5:45, you should probably hurry and get dressed." Weiss said and stood up straight and smiled.

I nodded and yawned, arched my back slightly then slowly sat up. "Mind bringing me my costume? I left it on the.." I started to say and then Weiss handed it to me.

"One step ahead of you, now get off your lazy butt." She said and laughed a bit and I glared at her playfully, taking the costume.

"I'll be out in a bit, then it's a short ten minute drive to Yang's place." I said and stood up and walked into the bathroom to change. After a few minutes I came back out in my Witch outfit and looked up at her. "Ready to go?"

Weiss nodded slightly. "Yep, and that outfit suits you nicely."

"Thanks, come one lets hurry." I said and grabbed the keys to my car, walking outside with Weiss and locking the door behind me.

"This seems like it'll be a lot of fun." Weiss said and I rolled my eyes playfully and began mumbling under my breath.

"It usually is, but not when I'm the focus.." I shook my head slightly, unlocking the car door and getting in, waiting for Weiss to get in and buckle before starting the car and driving off.

Time Skip: Ten Minutes.

I soon pulled into the driveway of Yang's house, Weiss had been mostly quiet throughout the ride and I noticed a few other cars there already. "Dang, I was hoping to be the first one's here..."

"Really, why's that?" Weiss asked and I just shook my head and looked at her to which she looked even more confused.

"You'll see once we get inside." I said and got out of the car and began walking up to the door. Weiss was behind me and as soon as I reached my hand up to knock on the door it opened and I saw Yang's smiling face.

"Heeeyyy! There's the birthday girl!" Yang said and I instantly groaned and hid my face in my hands.

"Wait...today's your birthday Ruby?" Weiss asked after gasping and I turned around and she was glaring at me and I chuckled nervously.

"Uhhhh, did I forget to mention that?" I asked and turned back and glared at Yang. "Damnit Yang!" I said then sighed.

"Whaaaat? I have to wish my sister a happy birthday!" Yang said and smiled, hugging me tightly and I hugged her back.

"Yeah yeah I know, who's here already?" I asked and patted Yang's back and she kissed my forehead.

"The usual friends, Nora, Ren, Sun oh and one new girl I meant earlier this week!" Yang said excitedly.

"Did you tell her it was my birthday too?" I asked and Yang nodded and I groaned. "Jeez Yang."

"You sound like you don't like people knowing it's your birthday Ruby. Why?" Weiss asked as we walked inside.

"I'll explain later." I said and was instantly enveloped in a tight hug out of no where and picked up.

"HAAAAAAPY BIRTHDAY!!" Nora said excitedly and Ren had to clam her down and get me to put me down.

"Hey guys, it's been a little while hasn't it?" I asked and gave them both a gentle hug.

"Indeed it has." Ren said and smiled, patted my head gently and I pouted a bit.

"Ooooo, who's this cutie Ruby? You're girlfriend?" Nora asked, now looking over at Weiss and I chuckled a bit, shaking my head slightly.

"No, she's just a friend is all." I replied and smiled, glancing at Weiss and noticing she had a faint blush. "You get used to the teasing Weiss."

"I-if you say so." Weiss said and I chuckled softly, glancing over at Yang who had turned the music on.

"Lets get this party started!" Yang said and laughed as she started dancing the other soon joined her until I noticed a familiar set of red hair and I walked over to her.

"Pyrrha? Is that you?" I asked and she turned around and gasped, smiling softly.

"Ruby! It's so good to see you." She said and hugged me which I awkwardly returned and smiled a bit.

"It's nice to see you too." I said and laughed a bit.

As more guest started to arrive, the music got louder and the dancing continued. I noticed Weiss dancing as well and she was quiet good at it and I smiled watching her, and soon I went to the balcony and set my scroll down and opened the music tab.

Weiss

After a few hours of dancing and having some fun, getting to know some of the people at Yang's party. I left the dance floor and looked around and frowned when I didn't see Ruby so I flagged Yang down. "Hey, do you know where Ruby is by chance?"

Yang tilted her head slightly then snapped her fingers and smiled. "She usually goes to the balcony around now. So she's probably there."

I nodded and smiled. "Thanks Yang, I'll go check on her now." I said and began walking upstairs and saw her on the balcony. I noticed the window was slightly open but not enough to hear the music inside and I heard music being played outside. "What the? Is she..."

Ruby

As the music from my scroll began playing, I closed my eyes as the night breeze ran through my hair under my hat and I took a deep breath in and just let it all out.

As I finished the song I open my eyes and heard clapping coming from behind me and I gasped, wiping a tear from my eyes before turning around and seeing Weiss. "W-Weiss, how long have you been there?"

Weiss didn't say anything but she walked up to me and gave me a gentle hug which I was surprised at but hugged her back. "Happy birthday Ruby."

I smiled a bit and closed my eyes and held her close. "Thank you Weiss...thank you."
