Chapter 2

Weiss

I sat in my room, thinking about what Father had just told me in his study not five minutes ago. The fact that I'm headed to Vale tomorrow is one thing. The fact that my father hired a bodyguard for me is another, I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself.

"Ugh! I still can't believe Father hired a bodyguard we know very little about." I said to myself and flopped down on my bed, sighing softly.

It could be worse. This Red Reaper fellow might not be so bad after all. But that's a very big might. I never really liked having guys around me all the time, makes me feel uncomfortable. I guess it'll have to wait until tomorrow when I finally meet this Red Reaper. I hope the guy doesn't get any bright ideas about me. I laid back on my bed and pulled the covers over my body to stay warm as I closed my eyes, slowly but surely drifting off to sleep.

Time-Skip

I slowly awoke the next morning when I felt the warm glow of the morning sun beam through my window, slowly grazing across my face. My eyes fluttered open slowly as I yawned softly, slowly sitting up. I then stretched slightly and got out of bed, walking over to the closet as I began to get changed.

"Today's the day I leave Atlas huh? I'm not sure I wanna go to Vale but at least it's a nice break from this place." I said quietly to myself.

As soon as I finished dressing myself, I heard a knock on my door. I walked over to it and opened it slowly, seeing my father standing there.

"Oh, good morning Father. Please come in." I said and opened the door fully for him.

"No need Weiss. I just came by to tell you that everything you need has been packed and loaded into the airship." Jaques said and turned away, starting to walk away but he then stopped and turned around. "Oh, and be sure to meet up with the Red Reaper upon your arrival."

"But Father, I don't even know what this guy looks like. How am I supposed to recognize him?" I asked, causing my father to rub his chin.

"My dear daughter, I have sent a photo of what he looks like to your scroll last night. I suppose you were sleeping when I sent it." He replied and then turned around again, continuing his walk. "I expect you to be ready for departure in about an hour and a half."

I nodded and looked down at the ground, sighing softly. "Yes father, I'll be ready by then." I said softly, closing the door soon after.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to actually meet someone meaningful to me. Most guys, and some girls, usually only ask me out because of my name, and not who I am. But because of my name, I find it very unlikely that I'll ever meet that someone. As I pondered this thought, I had not even realized that my remaining time at home had pasted. I head done everything that needed to be done. As I walked towards the airship, a crowd of people surrounded me, all asking me questions.

"Why did Father have our private airship land at a public airport?" I grumbled to myself and got on board, sitting down in one of the many empty seats. I heard the airship door shut behind me as I sighed softly, leaning my head back against the wall.

"Welcome aboard Ms. Schnee. I suggest you get comfortable, it's a three hour flight from here to Vale." The pilot said as he began to take off.

"Ugh, a three hour flight and nothing to do while on it." I said and shook my head slightly. "Sometimes I question my Fathers true motives of sending me to far off areas for business work."

I leaned the side of my face against the palm of my hand and sighed softly, staring out the window at the clear blue sky that we were flying by. It was going to be a long flight all the way to Vale.

Time-Skip

It had been three hours since we left Atlas and all I have to say is this, thank god I'm gonna be able to stand up and walk around. We may have a private airship but those seats are not as comfortable as father believes them to be.

"I don't understand why he thinks that's what qualifies as comfortable."

I sighed softly and slowly stood up, thanking the pilot before I started walking off the airship. Once I disembarked, I saw a crowd of people surrounding the docking bay.

"It figures that there'd be this many people here." I mumbled under my breath.

They were about to surround me and start asking me questions when I noticed a red blur jump up from the middle of the crowd and land in front of me with a scythe. A unified gasp filled the crowd as they were all mumbling the same thing.

"It's the Red Reaper."

"Everyone back away from Ms. Schnee or things will get ugly very quickly." He warned and the crowd quickly scattered.

The Red Reaper turned and looked at me. "Thanks for clearing the crowd Mr. Reaper."

"My job is to keep you safe Weiss, and that's what I plan on doing." He replied as his scythe condensed into a small rectangle and he then put his scythe away behind his back.

"Wow, that's pretty impressive." I said, a bit shocking seeing that happen before my eyes.

"It's a custom scythe I made shortly after I began this job." He explained and pulled out his scroll. "According to your father, he requested that you.....'ve got to be joking."

I tilted my head slightly in confusion. "What seems to be the problem?"

The Red Reaper rubbed the bridge of his nose and sighed softly. "Your father wants you to stay with me during your time here in Vale which is not what I agreed to."

I boiled with anger at my father as my hands clenched into fists. "You can't be serious! First he sends me here even though I didn't want to come here in the first place! And now he wants me to live with a complete stranger who hides their face from everyone?!"

"Calm down Ms. Schnee." He started but I cut him off soon after.

"No! I will not calm down until you decide one of two things! You either A, take off the hood and mask and show me what you look like." I started which made the Reaper appear to tense up a bit.

"And what's option B?" He asked after a few seconds of regaining his composure.

"You email my father and cancel this job and I can go back to my home or he'll find another bodyguard who's just as capable as you." I replied and crossed my arms, glaring slightly at him.

He remained quiet for awhile and eventually, he started to chuckled softly. Actually, it kinda sounded like a soft giggle to me. "You drive a hard bargain Ms. Schnee, very well...I'll go with option A."

Just as he was about to reach for his hood and mask, a blonde girl walked up behind him and she did not look happy at all. "Ruby! You have some serious explaining to do when we get back to your place!"

"Wait? Ruby?" I asked in shock, looking at The Red Reaper.

The Reaper sighed softly and removed his mask and hood. Actually, now that I see the person under the mask and hood, her would be a better description. "Geez Yang, did you have to give away my name?"
