It's been a week since I landed in Canada, and I can say I'm beginning to get used to their way of life, lectures has also been going on well.

I and Elijah respected our arrangements and since our encounter in the kitchen, we haven't had any problems so far, cause we don't get it in each other's way except a few hellos anytime we cross paths.

On my way out of the lecture hall, I almost bumped into someone, I looked up to apologise, but before I could say a word "oh my God, I'm so sorry, are you ok? Did I hit you? " she asked looking concerned

"Oh I'm okay, are you good?" I asked back and smiled.... well she's beautiful and sexy, not in a lesbian way though

"Yeah I'm fine, are you new here? cause I don't think I've ever seen you " she asked

"Yeah I'm Nina an International student, just arrived here last week"

"Wow! I'm Sarah, a nursing student here, I thought as much, you don't really look like a Canadian" she said and laughed....
Well who asked you? I thought, so I just smiled

"So where are you headed?" Sarah asked
"I'm going to the cafeteria " I replied

"Really? I'm headed that way, let's go together then" she said. I wanted to decline, but.... she's the first person I've had a long conversation with since I got here, so I smiled and said "I'll love to"

On our way to the cafeteria, I learnt her dad was South African while her mom was Canadian and she was happy I was studying nursing, we learnt a few things about each other while we were eating.

"You're such a nice girl Nina" Sarah said

I blushed and replied " You too, I mean you're the first person I've had a long conversation with since I got to this school"

"Really? Actually I've made a few friends already and they're cool, you'll meet them soon, funny enough, three of them are Nigerians and the others are Canadians, some of us went to the same high school and now we're here together again. But they are in different departments here"

"Ooh that's cool, will love to meet them. Are the Canadians black or white?" I asked out of curiosity

"Some are white while some are dark, why? Don't you like white people?"

"What? No it's not that, I don't hate anyone, you said you were Canadian and you're black, that's why I asked, not cause of anything. I am not racist" I said and laughed

She laughed as well. So I decided to use that opportunity to ask her about jobs... call me impatient, but I needed a job

"Uhmm Sarah, if you don't mind, can I ask you a favour?"

"Sure, why not" .....

"Uhmm please do you have any place in mind where I can work part time? I mean even if it's a coffee shop, restaurant, even an office job with my former degree, I don't mind any" I asked

"Uhhh let me see, I work part time at a diner though, I'll ask my boss if he needs more workers and I'll ask some of my friends too if they know a few places you can work, is that fine with you?"

"Oh God, thank you so much, thank you, I'll really appreciate that" I smiled

We even went to our next class together and exchanged phone numbers. I realised she stays in the school hostel and we said our goodbyes before we departed .

I left school with a smile on my face, happy with today's events. I got home and called my mother via video call
"Good evening mom" I beamed

"Why're you so happy today and how're you?" She asked

"I'm ok ma'a and you?"

"I'm good too love" I told her about my day and Sarah and how she wants to help me with a job

She was happy, prayed for me and adviced me, we talked for a little while before we said our goodbyes. I cried a little after our conversation cause I missed my family

I left for the kitchen to make dinner and I heard voices coming from the living room, I went to check and I saw two girls, a guy and Elijah talking.

The guy's eyes landed on me, he was cute, seemed tall with neck length blonde hair and a nice build. He looked confused, then I became the center of distraction

I cleared my throat feeling a bit uncomfortable "uh uh... Hi, sorry if I disturbed you" then I turned to leave but I bumped into a wall, which turned out to be another guy..... I guess they were more than two then

I looked up to apologise "Hey sorry, are you ok?" He asked with a bold voice too

Well he was also good looking, tall, dark and has a sexy build, he smiled at me.... woah the smile too, I think it's getting hot in here. I mean a trio of cute guys? Whaat!!.

I didn't realise I was just staring when he waved his hand at my face "hey, are you listening?"

"Wha..aat? Uhm... oh sorry, I...yeah... uhm I'm okay, I didn't see you there, are you okay?" I stuttered and smiled sheepishly

They all laughed, he smirked at me "I'm Lami, short for Olamide and you are?"

"I'm Nina, Elijah's housemate, I didn't know you were Nigerian"

"Ooh yeah, I'm half actually " he smirked and winked at me. I blushed and moved to walk away, when I was dragged by none other than Lami.

"What are you doing?" I tried to free my hand.

"Come on, why don't you join us?"

"Uhm I don't thin..."
"Hey guys, meet Nina, Elijah's pretty housemate, I wonder why he never introduced her to us" he said acting like he was in deep thoughts.

"Uh I don't think I'm pretty though, but it's nice to meet you all" I smiled at them "I have to get back to what I was doing, see ya" I stood up to leave

"Why? Stay, at least for just a little while, I love your smile and your hair, by the way, I'm Trisha" she smiled and reached out her hand to shake me which I shook back and replied "nice to meet you "

The other guy introduced himself to me as Jamie, but the last girl which I learnt was Dorathy was saucy and cold towards me, she has been clinging on to Elijah ever since sort of marking her territory.... duh like I care

They were all cool except for Dorathy anyway, we learnt a few things about ourselves, nationalities, race, courses and few other things. They also said I should hang out more often with them and they'll give me a tour round Manitoba.

It felt nice knowing they liked me and made me feel welcomed. I noticed Elijah has been staring at me ever since I got there and not even paying attention to Dorathy's signs of affection, I felt uncomfortable....why the hell is he staring at me?

I stood up "uhmm I really should get back to making dinner, do you guys care for?"

Trisha was the first to shout "oh my God, homemade food, I'll love to, hope you don't mind?"

I laughed "of course not " the others too cared for, apart from Dorathy, but Elijah didn't say a word, so I asked "do you also care for?"

"Uhm yeah if it's not too much for you " he said and smirked.... what an idiot, so I just rolled my eyes and left for the kitchen.

Trisha came to help me, "I'm making pasta and minced meat sauce, have you ever eaten it?" I asked

"Yeah, I eat pasta but I'll love to try it with mince sauce" she replied while beaming, I asked the others and they were eager to have it "ok no problem, coming right up"

They all complimented my food and it made me feel really good. "Hey Nina, I think I'm gonna be coming here more often now" said Jamie

I laughed and he asked "were you a chef before?"

"Oh come on, stop joking me, the food wasn't all that" I replied...

"Actually we're serious, this is really nice, you should work in a restaurant " said Lami

I laughed and replied "Actually my mom and two elder sisters are great cooks, but I'm still learning. Although I wish I could get a job here"

"There's this diner that is our usual hangout spot after school, I think they're hiring " said Lami... 'oh yeah that's true' Jamie and Trisha countered

"I could put in a word for you if you want" Lami said.... Oh I like this guy

"Thank you so much, I'll really love that, thank you". If I get the job, I owe you guys a treat, I promise" I replied happily, also leaving out the part that Sarah has offered to help me out as well.

I looked at Elijah, he was smiling and staring at me, but I don't know why, so I frowned and looked away. I noticed Dorathy glaring at me like she wanted to kill me

What was her problem with me?

Oooh, okkkk this is nice. Firstly, I want to apologise for taking this long to update, as I said earlier, I've been really busy and I just had time to finish this chapter today😪😪

Soooooo Nina finally made friends, this is great

Do you guys think Dorathy will be a threat or not?🤔

And the Elijah stares, hmmm🤔 I wonder what goes through his mind
