Initial Clashes
While strolling back to her classroom, Jennie observed the lively commotion after the recess, with students hurrying to return to their classrooms.
She kept pondering jisoo's departure in frustration due to her actions. Maybe she had a point. It wasn't wise to stir up a drama over this.
She believed she was mature enough to handle these situations independently.
Upon arriving at the corridor of her classroom, she observed its deserted and quite nature. She suddenly stopped at her place, speculating that either everyone had headed to their class or she was running late. Anxiety started creeping in. She hated being late and facing a reprimand.
She proceeded to move forward with deliberate, unhurried steps, almost as if seeking reassurance. Standing before her classroom door, she extended her hand to grasp the handle, feeling a slight tremor in her fingers.
She gripped the handle and smoothly slid the door open.
The door opened, revealing the classroom bustling with her classmates and their professor settling in with his notes. She figured he had just arrived, so everything seemed fine. Glancing around, she noticed only one seat empty, right next to taehyung. It was clear that she was the only one missing from the class.
"May I come in, sir?" she asked confidently. The professor shifted his focus towards the voice and nodded, indicating for her to enter.
She entered the classroom, walking with her head slightly lowered. The professor didn't question her since she was only a minute late, so she was excused. Making her way to her seat, she was met with taehyung's presence, much to her annoyance.
She sat down without uttering a word, opening her notebook. Both taehyung and Jennie remained silent, attentively listening to the ongoing lecture.
Jennie, eager to clarify her doubts, posed a question during the lesson. After receiving a satisfactory answer, she couldn't resist stealing a glance at taehyung, waiting for him to burst out at the question she asked.
But taehyung didn't drew any attention to her question. She looked at his quiet focus on making his own notes. She felt a bit nice to have a moment of relief when he didn't pointed out anything.
He should be like others, reaching to help out if anyone is having any problem, but no, he just point fingers.
Soon the lesson came to an end. Jennie closed her notebook and turned to taehyung, asking if he is clear with today's lesson.
"Taehyung". She called out to him in a slightly demanding tone, catching his attention as he gazed out of the window.
Startled by her voice, he turned towards her, his expression questioning what was the matter.
She looked at his expression, shrugged letting out a sigh, and then went on to ask him, "Have you understood anything from today's lesson?"
Sheesh, that smirk of his really got on her nerves! She wished she could just pinch it off his face!
"Haha, if I say I haven't, are you gonna come over to my place and teach me? He asked and gave a light smack on her head.
"Ouch. How dare you touch me, that too smack me? What was this for, huh?" She said getting up from her seat.
Taehyung suddenly remembered that day they got detained for the same kind of petty argument. He felt like it was about to repeat itself if they started arguing again.
"Hey, are you even listening?" She called out when she didn't hear any reply from him.
"Do you remember that day, the detention day? If you want that to happen again, then let's argue." He replied irritatingly after a moment.
Upon hearing his remark, Jennie also recollected that day, the day she had hated so far, dreading to face another day of detention.
She slowly lowered herself into the seat, mumbling a casual "alright" and releasing a sigh.
Facing him once again, she declared firmly, "I shall avenge the slap you gave me."
Taehyung eyeing her, let out a huff upon hearing that.
"Just a gentle tap and you're so offended." He retorted.
Jennie sensed herself losing her cool but remained composed, stating, "You have no authority to lay a hand without any cause."
As they continued arguing back and forth, the tension between them escalated.
Both trying to explain their point of view while also trying to maintain their cool.
—
Tring.
The bell rang. The day came to an end. Students packed their bags, ready to head back, the atmosphere filled with relief for the evening ahead.
As both taehyung and Jennie stood up, rushing towards the classroom exit, their shoulders accidently bumped into each other, earning looks of annoyance and disapproval from both of them.
"Can't you walk properly?" Jennie asked him, her voice slightly raised.
"Chill out, it was an accident, we haven't fell on the floor, so don't overreact." Taehyung said, trying to calm the tension between them.
Both started walking again, slowly spreading out, not wanting to clash into each other again.
Taehyung feeling a bit irritated by the previous encounter.
As they exited the corridor, an idea striked jennie's mind. Looking at taehyung, she tapped his arm and asked, "Let's race to the gate."
Taehyung shook his head lightly at her behaviour.
"You're a kid, still wanting to play around. Grow up." He replied, saying the last word with his voice raised, as if trying to scold jennie.
"Come on, it's all in good fun. Let's see who's faster." She said, trying to convince him.
Taehyung just let out a laugh.
"Grow up girl. Don't be this childish." He said and started to walk towards the other direction.
Jennie slowed down, after hearing that. She wasn't too happy about being called a kid, especially by him. She felt a wave of displeasure wash over her.
—
Spotting jungkook and jimin waiting for him at the other side of the road, taehyung hurried over to join them, wanting to catch up on the day's event.
"Hey." Both of them greeted taehyung but they could tell from his face that he was slightly annoyed about something.
"Hello." He greeted them back with a fake smile on his face, trying to mask his annoyance.
As they strolled back to their apartments, they were sharing stories about the events of the day.
"Now what did she do?" Jimin asked taehyung the moment he mentioned her name.
Taehyung let out a laugh before speaking, "She wanted to have a race with me, I don't know why."
Jungkook and jimin looked at each other and said, "Maybe she just wanted to have some fun with you, you are her classmate, rival and benchment after all."
Taehyung just stared at them suspiciously and said, "Rival suits best."
"Hmm, sounds like there is some tension or competition brewing." Jimin remarked jokingly.
The three shared a few more jokes, being in each other's company.
Jungkook popped a question, "So, have you both decided what model to make? What did your partners said?"
Taehyung remained silent, he realised he was clueless about the model. Working with someone he didn't want to, he thought of his next move, unsure of how to proceed.
—
Jennie got to her apartment, kept her bag on the bed and wiped the sweat off her forehead.
As she was about to take a nap, her phone suddenly started ringing.
Taking her phone, she checked the caller ID before answering.
Jisoo-ya
"Yeoboseyo." Jennie answered.
"Jennie. Have you arrived?" Jisoo asked, her voice sounding like she wanted to ask Jennie about something.
Jennie couldn't understand about what jisoo intended to do.
She couldn't help but ask, "I arrived, but why do you sound so excited or like you want to ask something at this moment?"
"Just wanted to know that have you decided what model to make?" Jisoo asked.
"Oh, I haven't decided yet! But we got to know about it today itself, what's the need to hurry?" Jennie sighed after the sentence.
She heard jisoo from the other end letting out a sigh.
"It's just next week and creating a model requires a lot of time, i suggest you should start now." Jisoo said.
Jennie laughed before replying, "Sure, i would, but I'll need to find out what that bloody gu- uh I mean taehyung is upto."
After saying, she just hoped for jisoo not to burst out on her.
"You might want to consider a more friendly approach to him." Jisoo said calmly.
"Friendly? That guy is just too much sometimes. I wonder how his own friends deal with his stupidity." Jennie said raising her voice and sitting up straight.
Jisoo firmly stated, "Listen to my words, or you both will end up clueless."
Jennie let out a sigh and in a commanding tone, she said, "Spill it!" Her expression scrunched in annoyance, as if jisoo was treating her like a kid.
A tense moment settled between them.
Jisoo began, "Please, think about it. You were the one who said no competition here; it's all about respect."
It seemed like jisoo was trying to make Jennie consider her actions and remember how she agreed.
Both kept it light as Jennie was understanding jisoo. Even though she doesn't enjoy his company, they need to work together. It's about finding between competition and cooperation, right?
"Thanks jisoo for your damn advice. I hope he doesn't stir up chaos between us." Jennie said and hanged up, throwing her phone on the bed and lied down again.

10:00 am.
Namjoon and seokjin were at the library after sneaking out of class. They were in for an interesting time!
"How about we call yoongi and hoseok here too?" Seokjin asked excitedly.
"Sounds good. Once their lesson ends in 15 minutes, they can join us." Namjoon said and went to pick up a book to read in the meantime.
As they both were seated, namjoon got engrossed in a random book he picked, after just two pages he found in quite interesting. Meanwhile, seokjin kept bombarding him with questions, most of them were probably being ignored.
Suddenly, namjoon looked up and asked seokjin, who was just looking around the library.
"Have we checked in on the juniors to see how they are doing with their project? Maybe we can offer help if they need."
Seokjin looked back at him and said, "They are not high schoolers that they need to be checked on. But whatever you said it is a great way to show support."
Namjoon caught off guard by the mixed statement and didn't know what to reply. He stayed silent, figuring out a good reply.
—
Jennie and taehyung were competing to answer a challenging question. They were trying hard not get into a heated debate over who has the correct answer.
The tension was escalating as they were trying to prove their point in front of the lecturer and classmates, adding fuel to the rivalry.
"I bet he doesn't even know the answer." Jennie whispered but loud enough for the entire classroom to hear it.
Taehyung looked at her with his usual smirk and said, "Just admit that I'm better than you in giving logical answers."
As they continued to fight over each other's answers, jinsung walked in for some purpose and saw the scene.
Hearing the class go silent, they looked around and saw jinsung nim standing at the door.
They both stopped, and made an innocent face.
"Don't ever think I would melt at this." Jinsung blurted out angrily, the whole class looked at him in disbelief, as he is one of the coolest professors of the university and now this strictness, it was surprising when he acted out of his usual character.
"I wonder how are you even working together for the model? If I could, I would cut off your names at this moment and never give you both this type of opportunity in the future." His voice loud and clear, making the room go quiet.
Everyone hoping things would calm down.
Jennie and taehyung felt embarassed, seeing jinsung nim who has always been friendly and supporting to everyone, burst out in anger and just because of them.
Jennie was almost at the verge of tearing up while taehyung just stood helpless, he knew he can't do anything now.
Eventually everything seemed to calm down. Jinsung lectured them for almost 20 minutes. He walked out of the class after taking his bag.
"See? That's why we advise you not to do these in the class." The other lecturer who was present spoke, breaking the silence.
He started with his lesson again but the tension was still in the air.
Tring.
"You're the one who started it all with that snarky comment." Taehyung said looking at her angrily, he couldn't talk calmly to her after what happened few moments before.
Jennie turned towards him, eyes filled with a mix of guilt and anger while trying to hold back the twitch on her lips, feeling a rush of emotions.
"Me? And why you couldn't keep quiet?"
Their usual blame game in action! Soon they gave up and changed the topic to something meaningful.
They calmed themselves down, after the previous blamings. They were still mad at each other but had to talk it out otherwise it would not be a good idea.
"Have you decided about what to make?" Taehyung asked Jennie who refused to steal a glance at him.
She was folding a paper to make a paper plane, for entertainment.
"No. What should we make?" She asked, her voice sounding heavy.
Both of them were silent for a moment, realising they have no idea.
"How about making an ecosystem model?" Jennie suggested and looked away as she knew taehyung would point out on that again.
And that happened.
"Seriously? Are we a 6 grader? Make something advanced, university-level!" Taehyung said with utter seriousness.
Jennie, annoyed by this, took out her notebook after keeping the paper plane on the desk.
"Listen. Please decide it right now, otherwise if we start at the last moment, it wouldn't help." Jennie explained.
Taehyung closed his eyes and let out a sigh of irritation.
"Keep doing these. By the way I don't wanted to work with you but I have no choice." Jennie said, angrily.
"Me too. Never want to work with you!" Taehyung said standing up, walking outside.
—
"I'm sure he is in a mood of competing with her, using his own ideas and making a better one than her." Yoongi said.
The other three stared vacantly.
Let's not talk about it now. He is sure with his decisions." Namjoon said.
Hoseok nodded while seokjin turned to yoongi and said, "Yes. He's not a child that we need to explain right and wrong to, he should use his own common sense."
"Maybe he will try to outdo her, but I am sure it will only be a one-time attempt." Namjoon said and requested the others to stop talking about this now.
—
Jennie and taehyung agreed to go get the materials for the model after a lot of arguments and all.
"You have to buy what I say." Taehyung demanded.
Jennie gave him a dramatic look, widened her eyes and sarcastically said, "Oh, you are the boss now? Do I have to follow you?"
Taehyung didn't say anything to her, but just mumbled a "fuck off."
Jennie was busy texting jisoo, letting her know she would be at the store to buy the materials for the model.
Taehyung tried to sneak a peek at her phone to see who she was texting.
Jennie side-eyed him and titled her phone to hide the name.
Taehyung backed off, acting as if he hasn't done anything like that.
"What do you think you are doing, huh?" Jennie asked him, her eyebrows raised.
Taehyung looked at her and said, "Trying to look at your boyfriend's name."
Jennie just blurted out a "What?!" in surprise.
"Yes. You were texting just now?" He asked.
She shook in head and said, "It's my friend. Dumbass."
Just as taehyung was about to respond, the bell rang and the day ended.
Jennie mumbled an "oh" and then told taehyung to come, saying, "Come on, we'll be late because of you!"
Taehyung stood up and went forward, not caring if jennie's following him or not.
Shit. He didn't inform his friends.
Taehyung realised and walked outside swiftly.
Jennie saw him going away and shouted, "Where are you going?"
But taehyung ran, wanting to share the news with his friends so they wouldn't have to wait for him.
As he came to their classroom corridor, he spotted jimin who was chatting with his classmate.
"Jimin-ah!" Taehyung went to him.
Taehyung started panting, catching his breath while jimin walked to him after bidding his bye to his classmate he was talking to.
"What happened?" Jimin asked.
Taehyung sighed, and said, "I am going to the store to buy something and it would take a bit longer, so you and jungkook just go back."
"Take your time. We will head back and let's catch up later. But may I ask why are you going there alone?" Jimin asked with curiosity.
Taehyung went blank.
"Because it is some stuff for myself and you both don't have to roam with me. Go and take rest. We will text each other anyways." Taehyung said, quickly making up an excuse and jimin seemed to understand him.
"Ok then but text me wh-
Jimin couldn't finish his sentence and taehyung went away from there.
He stood there before jungkook joined him, giving a pat on his back.
"What's up?" Jungkook asked.
"Where is taehyung?"
Jimin managed to tell him casually, "He has already left as he wanted to buy something for himself so let's just go back without him."
Jungkook nodded and they both left.
—
Jennie was leaning against the door of her classroom, waiting for taehyung to come.
Taehyung sighed in relief after leaving from there, thankful for jimin to not question him much.
He showed up and joined Jennie, who noticed him after hearing his footsteps in the quiet corridor.
"Where did you went?" Jennie asked looking up at him, due to the height difference.
"Doesn't matter to you. Let's go." Taehyung said and pulled her with him.
As they walked to the gate, Jennie suddenly realised how she was being pulled by him, she slipped her hand from his grip.
She herself didn't knew what made her do this, but she knew one thing that she just wanted to walk on her own.
Taehyung looked at her and asked, "What's wrong now?"
"Walk in the other direction. People will think that we are friends when we are clearly not." Jennie said with her voice raised.
Taehyung was a bit surprised by this, but he agreed.
"Yes. Who would even want to become your friend?" He remarked, which made Jennie go red in anger.
As they came out of the campus, they headed towards the stationary shop where they could get their materials which they needed.
The streets were bustling with busy people, but the afternoon atmosphere was calming down their tension. They didn't talk to each other the whole time, just enjoying on their own.
Jennie looked around and saw kids with balloons. She grinned, her gummy smile making an appearance.
Taehyung glanced at her, and noticed her smiling widely for the first time they met.
He felt a mix of irritation and warmth at her smile. It was both annoying and beautiful at the same time.
"You! Please walk faster. I don't want to spend the whole afternoon just walking like this." He said, clapping his hand to get her attention.
Jennie looked at his direction and said sarcastically, "Then go ahead your way. We have to meet at the same place. Unfortunately."
Taehyung walked taking big steps in response.
As they reached the stationary shop, there were amazed by the structure. It was no less than a luxurious mall.
"Wow!" Taehyung exclaimed.
They opened the door, a chime sound welcoming them. Going inside, they saw a variety of counters with different items.
Their eyes wandered around the shelves for the items they needed.
Taehyung wanting to look for some materials alone, suggested Jennie to go to the other side to look for the other materials.
They both headed towards the counters, searching for the materials they required. Jennie picked up a few items, carefully examining each one before deciding to take it.
Taehyung, on the other side, found a cardboard piece and was satisfied as he found the exact one he was looking for.
After sometime, taehyung realised he has taken more items than he needed. So he put back the extra items.
Just then, Jennie came to him with her hands full of the materials.
"Taehyung!" She called out.
He turned his attention towards her and asked, "What?"
"Why are you putting these back?" She asked.
Taehyung in response, handed one of the materials to her and said in annoyance, "See how much I have already taken. So I'm putting the rest of it back."
Jennie looked inside his shopping basket and said, "Ok. Don't do this again."
"Don't tell me what to do." He said, with an annoyed expression on his face and continued to take out the items and putting it back on the shelf.
Jennie decided to leave from there, and walked ahead to take a few more things.
"Let's go. I have taken enough. I think we would be able to make something out of these." Jennie said looking at the materials she bought.
Both of them started walking towards the cash counter.
—
They came out of the store, after paying.
"Well, we have to make this together." Jennie said, her voice filled with sarcasm.
"So bad. Why not we make it on our own?" Taehyung suggested.
They couldn't do that even if they wanted to. It's a collaborative work.
"But where should we make it?" Jennie asked suddenly.
Taehyung stood clueless.
"I didn't thought of that." He said in a whisper.
Jennie thought for a while and asked, "How about we make them after the classes?"
Taehyung shook his head in disagreement.
"No. Not there." He said.
"Then. You say." Jennie asked and kept quiet.
"At your place." Taehyung said, with his smirk.
Jennie looked at him, while smirking too.
"No. Not there." She said.
"Copycat." Taehyung remarked angrily.
Jennie couldn't understand what he meant. She just looked at him with an expression, as if asking him to explain what he meant.
"You said the exact same sentence which I said earlier." He said.
"So? What else should I say?" She asked while turning away from him.
They both stopped their arguments and thought of the most important thing for now, a place where they could make the model.
"Let's decide that tomorrow. But we will start from this weekend." Taehyung said.
"What can be worse than this? No weekend plans, only working together, huh?" Jennie complained and sighed.
"Well we have no choice." Taehyung said in his deep voice and it made a shiver run down jennie's spine.
She tried to act cool and bid her bye to taehyung, walking towards the other direction to her apartment.
