A Reunion
The twist of the relationship never ends. It unfolds every day, every time and everywhere. Whether it is in film or in real-life. There are lots of people speculate everything about their own enjoyments and conclusions. But some might not end up well if you expect a bit too much.
Four group of film students- Yuvi, Altab, Harold and Karthik along with the actors went to Punjab for shooting a film. There were grass and a lot of flowers breezing such that the wind blew off to the rails of Punjab.
"Is this the place that your dad pulled your mom's hand onto the train?" asked Karthik.
"Ah! Yes! We will shoot that scene a bit accurately" said Yuvi.
After a take of the film, a middle-aged man with a beard who wore a white kurta and turban clapped with a smile along with the other people of the village. Yuvi was recalling the middle-aged man.
"Excuse me sir, are you the 'Saarpanj' (Headman) of this area?" asked Yuvi.
"People can call me that, young man but I am always an ordinary man. Anyways, this scene is spectacular!" said the middle-aged man.
"Yes, sir, Thank You" said Yuvi with nervousness.
Karthik, Yuvi, Altab and Harold were greeted with warm welcome by the 'Saarpanj'. The villagers took them to their home with a joyful smile as well as the 'Saarpanj'.
"Mr. 'Sarpaanj', how's our shooting?" asked Yuvi.
"My dear, it was fantastic! I am really interested in your film project as it reminded me of... A LONG TIME AGO. What's your name, son?" asked The 'Saarpanj'.
"Yuvraj Malhotra" said Yuvi.
The 'Saarpanj' started having flashbacks of his past that led him to the severe headache that made him a bit unconscious. Yuvi and his mates gave him two glasses of water. After few minutes, The Saarpanj got consciousness.
"Signor, Don't worry, chote chote dard se bari bari kamyabhi hotei rehte hain (It's not a big deal, you can overcome the trauma one day)" said The Saarpanj.
"That's what my dad used to say to mom!" exclaimed Yuvi.
"Yuvraj, finally you have showed up. I missed you dear! Give your dad a hug! I am so restless to see you, son!" wept The Saarpanj.
The rest of the villagers were surprised. The villagers were filled with joy for a headman's son coming to Punjab. The Saarpanj and Yuvraj hugged each other as it feels like heaven and fireworks coming out of the background with the flashing stories about Raj and Simran. The Saarpanj saw the actor and actress who played Raj and Simran. He smiled at them with joy and curiosity. Though there were four actors but two of them were old enough to play Raj.
"Who is that bulky handsome hunk playing in your movie?" asked The Saarpanj.
"Oh, he's playing Kulijeet" said Yuvi.
"Hmmm...Fighting with him is really harder than the train sequence. What a tantrum he had! Oh, by the way, who is that thin but a smart looking guy? Though I saw him in the shooting but couldn't see it clearly" said The Sarpaanj.
"That's you, dad" said Yuvi.
"Oh, finally, an accuracy! I might recognize these two people of my age. The bald one's playing my dad and the salt and pepper looking mustache was playing..." said The Saarpanj but stopped. They realized that The Saarpanj (Raj) used to respect Simran's father but died due to a stroke attack. Raj slowly entered his room with sadness on his face by calling Yuvi in the room. The room was surrounded with the old pictures of the young Saarpanj and his wife during the wedding in London as well as his In-Laws and his father with the 'bachelor aunt'. Yuvi stared at them as well as the mandolin which The Saarpanj used to play for her wife.
"Nostalgia, right dad?" said Yuvi
"Yes, it's been a while. There are lots of things I would like to say, son. Terrible things happened, son!" said The Saarpanj.
"Dad, where were you all along?" asked Yuvi.
"At a time, I was restless. I was doing a PhD on Humanity and Terrorism. The PhD. work I was doing was a secret because I wanted to surprise all my loved ones . One of my colleagues were killed by the richest man of the world and an owner of the fish market- Karan Mehra because he needed my file due to the evidence of his illegal criminal activities set as an example of the paper such as arms and drugs. He came to know it when he visited our university as a chief guest and secretly stalked my PhD. paper as well as the newspaper archives that involved his previous deeds that are actually cleared in later years that were on my cabin shelves . None but few like me was aware of the consequences as it was a really horrible experience. Though some were not aware of Karan's activities, most of my colleagues often were greeted by him as an old friend. We were a happy family-your grandfather, your mom and you.
Meanwhile in the fish market, Karan showed up along with his workers. He secretly distributed drugs as well as arms. In secret, our Rajeshwari (also known as 'Chutki') captured the whole scenario with her SLR Camera as she was a crime reporter. Karan got to know her as she was hidden at the back of the factory carton but Karan already saw her hiding. When she was seen, she tried to ran away but he shot her chest plus when the blood became cold, I saw her resting as she breathed last. She gave the camera to me but a film to Karan. After all that, the bastard burnt the film. I picked up a letter from her pocket during she last breathe. She revealed to me that the film that gave it to Karan was fake because the real film was inside the camera. Your mom was grieved because of your aunt's death but she was strong enough to understand the consequences that Karan made and supported me for creating a protest against him. Karan who burnt the fake film, was thinking that the pictures will be burnt forever. Until, I took the real film through the university's science lab. Yuvraj, you were just a newborn child.
Anyways, my colleagues, college friends as well as my ex-Spanish girlfriends and I created the protest against Karan Mehra in London as well as India that turned even into a bigger riot. The riot made Karan's rage of lightning that he commanded that most of our university professors must be killed, if they try to expose the photos. I was afraid as I took her SLR camera slowly from my lab desk and as the picture was revealed, I just published it into the newspapers. As per the riot, many people were killed as if a civil war was about to come with a thunderous rage. The last time I bid goodbye to your mom and paternal grandfather, feared ourselves for the dead. I went out with the protest board but it was too late for your mom to stop me because she knew that I may be a prankster in the past but when I get serious, my rage cannot be stopped. As he was assassinated during the time he was about to stop the riot with a lot of security guards but as I have seen in my eyes, it was one of the security guards who killed Karan. After the week of visa, I never told your mom that I left to India for a peaceful life because I thought they were dead during the riots. Now that I am regretting it, some newspapers announced our deaths (my colleagues and I) that I was shocked. I entered this house right after my Father-In-Law died. His will was that I have to be the next 'Baldev Singh Chaudhary'. While the death of my Father-In-Law, Mother-In-Law consoled me and encouraged me to move forward. Due to her old age, she was bedridden for a long time. At a time I couldn't contact you because when I reached Punjab, I was about to contact you and Simran but was beaten by robbers in the train but I was saved by no other than Kulijeet. Though he was a villain of my life previously but he had understood our love. He took me to Bapuji's house. He was bedridden and he revealed his will (mentioned above). I was exclaimed! His last breathe left all of our village people shocked but I never gave up to follow his legacy. Therefore, Mother- In-Law died two years before you came. From Bapuji's death till now, I don't have any contact with Kulijeet because of his business with family. I realized about the education that must be needed more in Punjab rural areas. That's why I preached it. I slowly adjusted India's discipline and environment. I could have taken you guys to India. When I heard that all of you 'died' in the riots, I was left shocked. Otherwise, you know what I mean, son. I am a middle-aged man now but I may lose my energy for the responsibilities. I need someone to follow my legacy. I am sorry son, I left you guys like this. I would have told you guys about what happened long ago. But why couldn't I be brave enough?" he wept.
"After all this time, I think I will explain you what happened after the riots. Karan's men were about to kidnap mom and Dadu (Paternal Grandfather) in search of you. After the riots, you were honored as 'Professor Raj Malhotra- the hero'. The security guard accepted his assassination but luckily he wasn't jailed due to the evidence of Karan Mehra's deeds which not only set in newspapers but also the fingerprints of Karan. While you were posthumously awarded, mom and Dadu kept the award in your old shelf which was locked forever. We escaped from the ashes of The London City that mom would refresh her and landed ourselves to USA and the house was locked. Some called it haunted but the elders knew what really happened. I grew up to be a carefree and irresponsible person but I am fully responsible towards my work. That's why I am offered for the Film Academy. My short films were such that none liked it but some took it to the festival. I used to untidy my room as I am busy with my work on films and used to have dates with many women but I never touched one. That's why I used to get slapped. Mom became strict for my safety from which I learn to deal with strangers and friends as well as my rivals. She used to say that I am more like you because of my irresponsible behavior. Though, Mom never told me much about you because she gets frustrated when she talks about you, until Dadu sat on his favorite chair and told me the love stories that I was pretty untold and he revealed me that his heart said you were alive. I first thought it was fake but Dadu showed me an old picture of you and mom in the Mustard Flower Field as well as the old newspapers where you were not mentioned among with those thousand people who died in the riots during the assassination of Karan Mehra. You were holding a mandolin as you wore wearing a hat by hugging mom who wore a white salwar kameez. I got a chance of making a full-length film about both of you but I omitted the later events in the script due to the length plus I need to know the events clearly too. I even realized my Nanu's conservative behavior as mom mentioned me that when he first arrived in London, he was naive about the odds in the new country. He wanted to preach the simplicity to the people so that they may understand him. During the 1977 riots, he saw loads of people were killed as if were a genocide. He decided never to give up on preaching simplicity but with his strictness so he can make an image of the iconic 'Bapuji' we knew about. I realized the pain indeed. When Mom got to know about my project, she smiled and hugged me like never before because, I always get a teary hug , only from my Dadu. For the first time I saw my mom who was proud enough for my first project. He always used to cheer me up as Mom always looks stoned to me because of my extreme irresponsibility. She hardly talked to me since you were gone.
After the permission from mom, my friends, actors, crews and I planned to go to Punjab for filming though some parts were shot in London. We entered a rest house on which an old drunkard was sitting in the cabin chair. He was reading the 1999 newspaper about the riots as well as the assassination of Karan Mehra. When I came near the old drunkard, he first tried to stop me by a soft push but when I asked him about the paper, he stopped speaking and looked at me surprisingly. The newspaper was accidentally dropped. He revealed about the riot and about you as you became the Saarpanj by increasing the education of the rural areas of Punjab as well as telling stories to children with your morals. After all these, the drunkard left us shocked. I realized your sacrifice towards what you went through. The people honored you as a professor and a hero. After all, I slowly tracked you via cellphone by the name 'Chairman Raj Malhotra'. I was aware that you will reveal me things that I was not aware of and Dad, I am really proud of you and I hope, I will surprise you with some people tomorrow. However, I was also thinking about meeting grandma but as if you said that she died two years before I re entered your life! I wish if I could have come two years back" said Yuvraj.
Raj (Saarpanj) smiled. His popular grin reminded Yuvi of his Dadu's description. Both Yuvraj an Raj hugged each other again with a lot of pleasure of tears. Therefore, Yuvi and his crew had supper with the loving people from the village. Harold took the photo of them with his DSLR. Altab was interviewing with the children about the education as Karthik scared the hell out of the beautiful women in the village for his idiotic songs and some of them laughed as they understood that he want to impress the ladies. The cast was enjoying with the people by dancing with Raj's men as well as their wives. Night was gone. The sun rose as Raj woke up in the early morning. While he was telling a lot of stories to the children, Yuvi was also listening to the story which was the transition to Raj-Simran Legendary Love Story. After the storytelling period was finished, Yuvi was standing in front of Raj. When Raj walked in front of Yuvi, he stepped aside and pointing his hand on a middle aged woman and an old aged man with a wheelchair. Raj was surprised with a smile. Raj hugged the old man with a wheelchair tightly with tears as such that he saw the loved ones after a long time.
"All these times I thought you died! You are such a..." said Dadu (old man with a wheelchair).
Simultaneously, Raj saw Simran back from the dead with a lot of tear in her eyes as well as her heart with a smile of a little girl.
"Hey Senorita, every day, every time and every moment, I always remember you. Your eyes tells me that you stare all the time. I still love you. You still look younger and more beautiful darling!" said Raj with a teary eye and hugged her.
"Professor Raj Malhotra became The Headman. We are really proud of you" said Simran.
Raj took out the flower and offered her but she refused. The little fountain came out of the flower. Instead of Simran getting angry, she smiled with a wet hug. Yuvi interrupted their hug.
He revealed that after the drunkard left, he called both Simran and Dadu for the revelation. Simran first did not believe him but the selfies with Raj during the night time convinced her. Dadu was sure of it long before than Simran because the riot was not that severe as it seemed to be because some people were in hiding such as Holocausts.
After the enjoyment in the village and the crew wrapped up the shooting, Yuvi took Raj as well as others to London. The film was released few days after the editing. When Yuvi showed Raj, Simran and Dadu- they all looked surprised of Yuvi's unique filming style as well as the visionary editing. As the film released into theatres, everyone fell in love with the film as well as the characters but some never knew the whole story after the train incident and some critics exampled it as a 'Advanced Love Story Ever' despite some critics knowing the aftermath (the riot incident and Raj's disappearance).
After few days, a Bravery Award ceremony was held. It was decorated such like the other humanity award shows. The host announced Raj for the award win. He sit did not get rid of his red turban.
Raj's speech:
"
"Thank you all for supporting me. I will speak few words with all of you. Sometimes, we are feared by those who never tried to harm us. The riot was really traumatizing. I even fell down by thinking about it but I never gave up because if you want to overcome, never underestimate people who you love and people who understand you. If you want to overcome grieve, let's face it and tackle. Otherwise you cannot survive the world. Who are we? Are we just a society based people? Are we misguided? It's up to yourselves, not mine. Therefore, a genocide traumatized me for what 'The Dictator' wanted. If want to screw the mind control freaks, play with them in such a manner that he can change his thoughts over himself and get rid of the ego he had. Otherwise you won't understand the consequences. There are riots everywhere but if you want to survive, you are the answer of everything. Thank you all so much!"
"
Everyone went into tears for the speech and Yuvi after all took the family photo as a selfie. Love never dies but the most important thing is who you are and what family responsibilities you need to do. All ends well.
