Chapter 6 (Part 2)
Oliver takes a cautious step back, his eyes still fixed on the gaping cracks in the earth. As he backs away slowly, he hears the Pyrovoidian approaching. He huffs in frustration as he watches the creature emerge from the depths. Its heavy footsteps echo through the air, and its massive form fills Oliver's vision.
The Pyrovoidian finally reaches the surface, and its body looms over Oliver. The creature's mouth curls into a fierce growl, taking a deep breath as its chest heaves. Then, the Pyrovoidian unleashes its rage, letting out a blaring roar that echoes across the plain. Oliver covers his ears, stunned by the sheer force of the creature's monstrous, beastly roar.
The monster's screech echoes through the city, causing panic among the citizens as they scatter in the streets. Oliver covers his ears with both palms, hoping the roar will halt. But the creature shows no signs of stopping, and Oliver's eyes wince. When he reopens his eyelids, he sees the Pyrovoidian positioning itself for an attack, ready to strike at any moment.
"How do I kill you!?" Oliver exclaimed, glaring at the Pyrovoidian.
The creature launches towards the Remaining Podeshire and raises its brawny hand, ready to strike. When it was about to land its palms on Oliver, a sharp, hovering noise suddenly slashed through the air. Then, an arrow flies through the air and pierces the monster's eye, causing it to shriek.
Oliver glances at his left side. Then, his sight catches a familiar person in the distance. It causes him to freeze as he gasps.
Oliver's gaze falls upon a young lady standing in the distance, almost as young as him. Her fair and radiant skin glows in the morning sunlight, and her blonde updo with elegant curls cascades down the sides of her face like the sun's golden rays. As she turns and faces him with a beam, Oliver catches a quick, furtive glimpse of her striking green eyes, sparkling like precious emeralds.
The girl's pistachio-green dress ripples and sways with the wind, blowing her skirt like steam. Her dress has a high-waisted, narrow skirt that accentuates her slender figure. Her black hemline falls above her loafers, teasing a hint of her white stockings without revealing her ankles. Finishing her look, she dons pearl earrings that shine her face.
"I blinded that thing!" she called out to Oliver.
The young lady tosses the crossbow back to a city guard behind her, keeping her gaze on the Pyro Void Monster. Quickly untying the black ribbon on her bonnet, she removes the cap from her head and drops her headwear, exposing her hair that gleams like gold. Without hesitation, she snatches a sword from the guard's sheath, making the blade glint in the sunlight.
"I'll return this later," the young lady told the guard before bolting towards the Pyrovoidian.
"Wait, lady! Don't!" the guard yelled as the lady ran towards the monstrous abomination.
"Don't worry, I've got this!" she called back as she sprinted.
"No! Miss! Stay away from here!" Oliver shouted after her as his heart raced with fear for her safety.
The monster fixes its gaze on the approaching young woman. With a fierce growl, it plucks the arrow from its eye, causing it to shriek. As the creature staggers back, its violet blood drips onto the grass, staining it with a dark substance. Then, it aims the arrow straight at the young woman's head.
"Watch out!"
The young woman immediately spots the arrow flying towards her. She quickly halts and wields her sharp, durable sword, slicing the bolt in two with one swift motion. The shattered pieces clatter to the ground as she springs forward again, sprinting towards the monster.
Oliver's jaw drops in amazement as he watches the young woman's incredible display of courage and skill. As she charges forward, Oliver turns his attention back to the monster, his eyes blazing with a piercing glare. He then summons a white orb with sparkling magic in his hand.
"Hey!!" Oliver shouted at the monster, catching its attention.
Oliver then points his arm towards the monster's massive body. He unleashes the power of the white orb, releasing a deadly ray of light that explodes in front of the creature. The impact sends the creature reeling backwards, crashing into a puddle.
The young woman sprints forward and launches high into the air as her body soars towards the sky. Oliver's head tilts back as he watches her ascent. As she begins to fall, her once-elegant updo with curls transforms into long, flowing waves of gorgeous, golden hair that cascade down her back.
Then, the lady wields her sword and slices through the monster's neck, decapitating it with a single swift stroke. The beast's head detaches from its body and tumbles. Its cold, reddish-violet blood spills onto the young woman's face and clothes.
The lady wipes the blood off her cheek. She then faces Oliver and smiles at him. But her kind smile instantly disappears as she looks above him. She puffs as her eyes contract.
Oliver slowly turns around. While turning around, he hears a low, rumbling growl. Shocked, he sees another Pyro Void Monster before him, looking down into his wide eyes.
"Gah!" Oliver screamed as his eyes widened.
Reacting quickly, Oliver lifts his hand and points it towards the new opponent. His palm releases a torrent of water that gushes towards the creature's face, engulfing it. However, the monster doesn't simply succumb to the water's force. Instead, it shrieks in agony as its body begins to steam and sizzle.
The young woman looked at Oliver incredulously, her eyes narrowing. "...Seriously, out of all the elements you can use, you summoned water!?" she scoffed.
"It's boiling water!" Oliver retorted as he glanced at her.
Oliver looks back at the Pyrovoidian. Suddenly, he screams in terror after seeing the creature launching its fist towards him. Oliver hurryingly drops to the floor and ducks for cover, avoiding the fatal blow. He then stands back up.
With a shuddering roar that sends shockwaves through the air, the Pyrovoidian launches towards Oliver and the young woman. Without wasting a second, Oliver and the girl turn around and flee across the grassland. The grass whips past them in a blur as they push themselves forward.
As they ran, Oliver glanced at the young lady beside him with admiration sparkling in his eyes. "You're strong!" he complimented her, raising his voice while sprinting.
The lady nodded as she ran. "I've been training for a year!" she shouted as they dashed through the grass.
Suddenly, a massive shadow looms above their heads, catching Oliver and the young woman's attention. They glance up in terror, their eyes widening in horror as they see the Pyrovoidian's massive fist hurtling towards them. Screaming, Oliver and the lady split up in opposite directions, dodging the creature's attack by mere inches as its fist smashes the ground between them.
Oliver sprints away. As he cuts through the tall grass, he realizes the young woman no longer runs by his side. With panic rising in his chest, he glances over his back and immediately spots her. Oliver quickly halts, feeling his feet rooting onto the ground.
The young woman lies on the ground, her eyes fixed on the Pyrovoidian as it approaches her with a menacing grin. She slowly crawls away through the uncut grass, maintaining direct eye contact with the creature as she struggles to stand on her feet. But the vibration of the creature's stomping heels makes it impossible for her to regain her balance as she pants and gasps for air.
