The medicine knocked Quinn out almost right away, she could barely remember anything that had happened after she took the tablets. When she woke up, the sun was high in the sky. The Sky was a light, soft blue. There wasn't a cloud in the sky. She didn't dare move, so she stayed completely still-- looking at the sky, the closer she looked-- she could almost see the force shield shimmering in the sunlight. Quinn had almost forgotten that even the time of day was controlled, for all she knew, it could be midnight or noon on the outside...
"You're awake," Quinn turned towards the jungle to see Johanna Mason sitting not far from her. "We were beginning to think you'd be out all day."
Quinn stared at her for a moment, Quinn knew for a fact that she hadn't been there when she fell asleep.
"How long was I asleep?" Quinn asked, they must have been allies. Otherwise, Johanna easily could have killed her in her sleep.
She shrugged, "Few hours." she replied, "Finnick said you were out for maybe an hour when we got to the beach."
Quinn raised an eyebrow, and began to push herself up. Her body was stiff from laying so still, and her ribcage throbbed again. She instance regretted moving. But she knew that she had to move eventually.
"We?"
Johanna sighed heavily, "Me, Beetee and Nuts, and your boyfriend." she replied and motioned with her head down the beach a bit. "Katniss thinks she broke some code or something, we need to go to the Cornucopia. But Ten and Finnick went to go find some of those...vines or whatever." she explained, "Your boyfriend-"
"He isn't my boyfriend." Quinn corrected sharply.
She ignored her, "He's over with Three." she stated, "If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have been stuck in the jungle. He refused to leave Nuts, but she's insane-- crazy."
Quinn let out a long sigh as she forced herself all the way up into a sitting position to get a better look at everyone who was there. Not far down the beach, Katniss and Peeta sat in the shade of the tree's and Wiress and Beetee sat near the water. Then standing on the beach facing Katniss and Peeta-- listening to something that Katniss was saying, was Orion.
"Orion?!"
Quinn pushed herself up from her seated position and hurried towards Orion. It was one thing to at least have Finnick, Katniss, and Peeta alright and finally be with the alliance-- it was another to have Orion there too. To see him alive was even better. Orion turned just as Quinn latched her arms around his neck in a hug.
"You're awake," he sighed.
"You're alive," Quinn retorted, "I didn't think you would be." she confessed. She knew she shouldn't have had so little faith in the idea that he could survive. But the odds weren't for him. She had kept telling herself that he had a chance because of the training in Thirteen, but she never actually believed it.
"Great to know you thought I'd be dead by the second day," he replied as the two of them let go of each other. "Are you okay?"
She nodded, "Just sore, but I'm fine." she stated, "You?"
He nodded, "Fine," he replied, "But if I would have been stuck with Johanna any longer in there...I probably wouldn't be." he chuckled, and Peeta did too. But Katniss didn't seem nearly as amused, she looked down the beach. Quinn followed her eyes to see Johanna coming towards them with Finnick and Agathias with her. In their hands, they each held a few of the rough green vines that Quinn and Agathias had eaten early in the morning.
The group of them all moved up into the shade by the jungle, and ate their own piece of vine to quench their thirst before going to the cornucopia. Quinn sat between Katniss and Orion, both of which hadn't been expecting such a bitter taste. But they quickly got over it.
"So are you feeling better?" Katniss asked, looking at Quinn only for a moment before looking back at the vine.
Quinn shrugged, watching her use the tip of an arrow to cut through the rough exterior of the vine. "Yeah, the rest helped." she replied, and then remained quiet for a moment. "Thanks for not killing me at the Bloodbath." Quinn sighed.
Katniss glanced up at her and nodded a bit, "Yeah, no problem."
Katniss didn't seem to inclined in keeping the conversation going, but Quinn didn't really want there to be even more silence. "And thanks for...you know, before your games...in Twelve." Quinn stated, her voice was so low, it was only a whisper. Katniss looked up from her vine and stared at her.
"We were glad to help," she said equally as quiet. "But I would be lying if I said we weren't mad when you went back to the Capitol."
Quinn sighed, "I didn't have a choice." she replied defensively.
"Don't worry," Katniss replied, and then the two of them fell silent again. This time Quinn didn't try to keep talking. There wasn't much she could explain in the arena about the plan. In fact, there wasn't anything she could explain with out getting in even more trouble. If she explained right then and there, the Capitol could have put a end to the rebels plan.
After a while, they began to toss the finished pieces of vine into the jungle and began to ready themselves for the trip to the Cornucopia. Quinn hadn't had to use her spear for anything, and she was glad about that. And the odds of having to now were slim, at least for awhile. The alliance was a good size, Finnick, Johanna, Beetee and Wiress, Katniss and Peeta, then Quinn, Orion, and Agathias. The careers would have been stupid to even try to attack them. Now if they weren't expecting it, or were separated-- that would be different.
The group of them began to walk down one of the stony paths towards the island, Katniss leading them.
"The whole arena is set up like a clock," Katniss began, "A new threat every hour in a different section." she explained, "The lightning strikes at noon and midnight there," she said pointing towards a tall tree. "The blood rain, fog, monkey's," she said pointing to a different section with each threat. "Then the tidal wave." she finished.
"Where did you say the lightning strikes?" Beetee asked, and Katniss pointed again.
As a few of them began to look through supplies, Quinn made her way towards the edge to get a better look at the beaches around the Cornucopia to watch for anyone who might have found them. But nobody was there.
Everyone stopped talking, and everyone turned towards the path they had walked on as soon as the sound of a cannon sounded above them. Quinn watched in horror as Wiress fell back into the water, the water around her neck turning red. And then Gloss stood there, with nothing more than a knife. He must have been desperate to even try to attack them alone. But in no time at all, everything happened all at once and too fast to even react to.
Quinn took a few steps up towards the Cornucopia to help the others if she had to.
"Quinn! Behind you-" Johanna's voice carried from the other side of the cornucopia, and Quinn turned around quickly, drawing back her spear. But as she did, Cashmere's hand wrapped around the back of her neck and sunk her own knife into Quinn's ribcage before using the hand on her neck to practically through Quinn off of the island.
Quinn's entire body sunk into the water, and she felt something heavy land on top of her. The cool water burned her ribcage as her own blood began to surround her. She wasn't even thinking of breathing, all she could think about was the fact that she was a goner. Whatever was so heavy was pushed off of her as the water became more violent, flipping her limp body around like the tidal wave had. The water stopped, leaving her belly up in the water-- looking up at the clear sky. Her entire body was limp, she couldn't make herself move even if she tried. Even the sound of four cannons couldn't get her to move.

"My, my," Caesar Flickerman's voice sighed heavily as he looked towards the screen of three ships entering the arena, one scooping up Gloss from One in when extendable arm, and Wiress from Three in the other. Then another extending it's arm towards Cashmere from One, and the last ship scooping up Quinn Maverick the Capitol Capitol Favourite. "I need to admit, today we've lost four wonderful Victor's in this years games. But Quinn Maverick really strikes a nerve for me and I'm sure many of you watching."
Caesar watched as the ships disappeared, with the bodies of the fallen tributes. President Snow could see it in his eyes, that Caesar was even a bit moved by the loss of Maverick.
"She had a rebellious spirit, and I believe we haven't seen the last of our share of tributes to come with a rebellious spirit like her." he sighed.
President Snow quickly flipped off the television. He had been expecting more of a satisfying feeling to come with this moment, the death of Quinn Maverick was something he had been waiting for. He had assumed that getting rid of her would get rid of any chance of anymore radical's taking after her. But there was some truth in Caesar's words. She had done too much damage, she had left to big of a legacy for other rebels.
His fight with Quinn Maverick was over, but he hadn't seen the last of the rebellion. At least not yet, not while Katniss Everdeen was still around.
