1.1
The loud -very loud- entrance of Papyrus in his brother's room woke the other skeleton up with a jolt. Looking frantically everywhere around him, searching for what surprised him so much, ready to react to any threat, he only noticed his bro standing at the edge of his door. "SANS ! QUICK, WAKE UP ! YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE IT !" Sans slowly sat up, the light in his sockets still dim as a lazy smile crept his way onto his face. Papyrus gazed at the little skeleton with expectation, his entire being literally beaming of excitement. He walked until he reached the mattress, perfectly avoiding all the mess lying everywhere on the floor -and the mini tornado. "BROTHER, WE'RE FINALLY FREE ! THE KING JUST MADE AN ANNOUNCEMENT ! And He's Not One To Make This Kind Of Joke, He's Very Serious, Not Like You..." He added under his breath. Or, well, whatever it was for skeleton monsters. His brother's smile shone so bright in the dark bedroom, it almost hurt Sans' eyes. He'd usually be so happy ; after all, they'll finally be ale to go on the Surface, see the sun and the actual stars, the real ones ! Not just some shiny stones in the ceiling of Waterfall... But he couldn't force himself, the memory of Frisk -and of his last conversation with the king- still fresh and alive in his foggy mind. He couldn't bare the loss of the tiny human, always so kind, smiling and friendly. He felt a tug in his very Soul, the pain too much to handle. Heh, how could he even survive this ? He was pretty sure this HP, his HoPe, was barely a 0.5 now.
Seeing the broken expression upon Sans's face, Papyrus didn't hesitate second and immediately hugged him. The small form, wrapped in his blanket, was trembling so much in his arms. Worried, the smile on Pap's face slowly disappeared. He was clinging to his little brother's back, like for his dear life. " 'm...sorry, b-bro...! i..i-" He couldn't even finish his sentence before breaking into tears, crying all his might, his sorrow slipping out of him as cristal-blue tears, rolling down his skull, deep in his bro's battle-suit-top, which was soon soaked. He didn't let go, he'd never want to ; only after a long time breaking apart from Papyrus. He wiped away the remaining tears, sniffling -how was it even possible?
"BROTHER... WHAT HAPPENED ? AREN'T YOU HAPPY ? DIDN'T YOU ALWAYS BLABBER ERUDITELY ABOUT SEEING THE STARS UP IN THE... WHAT WAS IT AGAIN? OH YES, 'THE SKY,' RIGHT ?" He looked expectantly at the oldest skeleton, before staring at the ground. "DON'T YOU... MISS THE SURFACE ? I NEVER SAW IT, BUT FROM WHAT YOU TOLD ME, IT SEEMS BEAUTIFUL !" Once again happiness radiated from the tall one.
Then came back the flood of tears.
[...]
Finally his sobs turned into quiet whimpers, as his brother kept whispering small words of reassurance and encouragement to him. He patted his head with his gloved hand, before lifting the other skeleton who was about half his height, so they were both staring into each other's eyes -or, well, eye sockets. Frowning in concern, Papyrus quietly asked his older brother about what was wrong. The pitiful and pained expression on Sans' face deepened, making his bro almost regret asking that. But he had to know. Sans couldn't go on with his habit of keeping secrets to himself. Or else, he'll soon not be able to bear it alone anymore, and Paps didn't want to imagine what would happen then.
Once again, Sans avoided the gaze of the Great Papyrus. But what else could he do ? Tell his younger brother that the "tiny-human-friand-fan-of-spaghettis-and-master-of-puzzles" died ? No, Pap was way too innocent for that. He befriended the human instead of capturing (or even kill) them, for goodness' sake ! So, as always, the older would protect the other. He could shatter souls and crush skulls for his bro, so lying was not a big deal, after all.
Still, with the pain and guilt he felt in his core, his HoPe at the lowest point ever, it was hard to hide that, from himself as well as from the others. Should he just keep Frisk's death buried deep down in his memory ?
He didn't know. But, he was the Judge. He was the one who could see stats such as the LV at first glance. He should know, he must know !
So why ? Why did everything hurt so much ? Why wasn't he able to just tell them ? To tell Paps ? Why did... he miss the kiddo, as if he was missing an entire part of himself ?
Then he realized. He grew attached to the human ; he liked them.
And now... They were gone.
With no hope of return.
~~~~~~
Heyy there. Sorry, this chapter is a bit shorter than the previous one x) [~850 words instead of ~1000|
As in the first chapter, I hope my English is understandable xD
! SO I HAD AN IMPORTANT QUESTION FOR WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT !
Do I include the reader ? Not necessarily for an 'x reader' kinda thing, except if you want to, i don't mind at all, just tell me. But, like, as a character ? I don't wanna include an OC or something like that, so I'm just asking if it's okay if there's a (Y/N) or not haha
Thanks again for reading, love y'all
BONNE JOURNÉE.
