Dead. They're all dead. They died in the Underground. Now, the Barrier was broken. The monsters were free. But were they really? The guilt. It was unbearable. Seven children had lost their life down there. The monster kind managed to get to the surface, but their Souls were still filled with remorse, as if they were trapped in an endless cycle of nightmares where they saw themselves killing over and over innocent humans, kids moreover. At least, three monsters did. Most of the others were just unaware of what happened. Another one was full of guilt, as she couldn't protect them well enough.

The last one gave up their Soul. They actually gave up their freaking Soul, their entire life and being. Why? Cause they were determined. Determined to free the monsters. But not enough to try and find another solution that didn't involve their death. That would have freed everyone, so they could all feel the sun on their face together. The monsters were free, yes, but they had to kill 6 children, and let the 7th die for them, for their freedom. Bittersweet, isn't it?

The view was utterly beautiful. The king stood there, not moving even an inch, unwilling to anyways. How would the humans react ? He couldn't help but wonder, afraid of the race who slayed so many of his people thousands of years ago. He had killed humans too, after all. Children, more importantly. How could the men forgive him, forgive them, when they couldn't even forgive themselves..?

Suddenly, he heard a gasp of astonishment behind him. Turning his head towards the source, he spot someone, eye sockets wide, dazzled from the view displayed in front of them both. The Judge. His eye-lights began to look fuzzy, almost watery from the emotions. The skeleton looked at his king, a big and sincere smile on his face. "Oh my stars, I can't believe we broke the Barrier ! We're finally free. I just can't wait to see Paps' reaction." Asgore swore he could see literal stars in Sans' eyes. Could he let his happiness show like that, too? With a look of realisation, Sans turned to look at the goat male once again, slight regret just from having to tear his eyes apart from the sun even if it was for a second. "So, where's the kid ?" The skeleton sought a bit around him, noticing only now that the small human was nowhere to be seen.

A frown appeared on Asgore's face. His gaze going everywhere but in Sans' direction. "The human... Frisk--"

"Wow, their name's Frisk? I never knew. Heh, not a really talkative kid, right? They have a good sense of humour tho. Always giggling at my puns, with this joyful light in the eyes, y'know? Anyway, sorry for cutting you short, Your Highness. What were you saying about the kid-- I mean, Frisk?"

"They're gone. Their Soul helped breaking the Barrier." Sans took a step back without even realising it. The pinpricks that were his eyes started to shiver, as well as his entire body. Sweat began to form on his skull before it rolled down to his jaw. His smile slowly disappeared as his eyes darkened, before it came back, seemingly forced.

"Heh, good one, King Asgore. But, uh, seriously, where are they..?" His voice was reduced to a whisper. Damn it, he had talked to the kid what, a dozen times in Snowdin and a few times after that, like that one time in MTT's restaurant ? How did he grow so attached to this human child whom he didn't even know the name some minutes ago ?

Asgore didn't say anything else for a few minutes that seemed like hours to Sans. Eventually, he inhaled a deep breath before saying. "They... were willing to help. They asked me to take their Soul, so we can shatter the Barrier. I'm sorry, but what was I supposed to do? I respected their wish, and everyone is free now." The king slightly sighed.

"Liar." Sans snarled. His breathing was uneven, and in a matter of seconds he disappeared. Asgore waited here for a few seconds, before he regretfully went back inside his castle, preparing himself mentally to announce the... good news to everyone. His expression blank, he casted a last glance at the sight from the peak of Mt. Ebott, where monsters had been buried underground for far too long.

The sudden appearance of Sans in the skelebros' living room startled Papyrus who just happened to be feeding the pet rock. "Heh, almost jump outta your skin, bro?" The older skeleton said, a small grin on his face. Papyrus' eyes narrowed, an unpleased look clearly visible.

"SANS. WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?" Sans averted his eyes, avoiding his brother's gaze upon him as his smile fell back into a frown. He silently made his way upstairs before shutting close his door. "WOWIE, IT'S THE FIRST TIME I ACTUALLY SEE HIM CLIMB THE STAIRS AND NOT TELEPORT DIRECTLY TO HIS ROOM. WAIT... IT'S SUSPICIOUS !" The tall skeleton exclaimed dramatically as the other one let out a quiet sigh. He slowly slide down his door, thinking. He would usually have snickered at the loud remark from Paps, but he wasn't in the mood to laugh at something like that, obviously. He eventually flopped down his mattress, just wanting to fall into slumber.

Why did everything have to be so complicated ? He asked himself, unable to sleep. Soon, every monsters would know that their magical prison was no longer here to keep them under the mountain. Soon, they all were going to access to the surface, finally. Some would discover it, the others would just be reminded of the war that broke long ago and the people they lost at that time. But they'll all be free. Even if lives were taken to achieve this. Closing desperately his eyes in an attempt to finally fall asleep, he let himself be swallowed into the darkness. At last, his breathing calmed down.

Hello there, I'm just a random human, a French one, who suddenly decided to write something in E N G L I S H even if it's just crappy since they're still learning and are d u m b af. So yeah, just some idiot who started to write this thing an hour ago, I think? Throwing random words and bad ideas here.
I apologise for any mistakes, as I said, still learning English, so please let me know so I can fix this and improve ? It still doesn't really have a plot, may turn into a Sans x Reader tbh haha
Anywayyy sorry I honestly don't know wtf I'm doing rn. Just got into Undertale again and began typing. And since I'm always reading in English it just came out like this.
