Recently I went to Barnes and Noble and I saw one of those "(insert large number) writing prompts" books. Normally I wouldn't care much for those, but since I have a Wattpad profile and I'm always looking for my next big inspiration for my next hilarious skit, I figured "why not" and bought a small book with 200 writing prompts. And as hoped, it gave me an interesting idea.

I have the multiple different characters give their responses to a majority of these writing prompts. And to start this sort of series, let's hear the Vermillion Destroyer's responses to these prompts! 😊 Enjoy!

First the prompt will be listed, then the character will give their response. Some prompts will be serious or philosophical, while others just fun or curious. Now keep in mind, this questionnaire of sorts takes place after the events my upcoming Under Our Wings crossover series, so potential spoilers may be ahead! References to the original source of the character may be mentioned as well, so if you don't know of their franchise you may be left in the dark.  This was made as a way to understand the characters better and as a way to express their ideas. These prompts are directly from the book itself, so don't be surprised to see the the word "write" a bit. Ready? Go!

What is the best excuse for being late that you have ever heard or used?

Ray: "So sorry! I had to feed my invisible cat and he just REFUSES to eat regular cat food!" (Laughs loudly) That crazy badger is too much sometimes. 😂

How do you act when you are afraid?

Ray: Hmm... How do I act when I'm afraid? Kinda depends on the context I suppose. If it was something that hurt my self-esteem or pride, I'm programmed to be upset and angry. If it's something that genuinely terrifies me, I... I don't know. I honestly don't know how I act, or at least how to describe it in words. I... I kinda act like it's the end of everything, I guess. I don't know.

What do you love doing that you wish you could get paid for?

Ray: Messing with Rae all the time! She just gets so pissed off so easily! I should definitely get paid for being able to get under her skin while dealing with her attitude! 😆

What is the best thing about being single or partnered (whichever you are right now)?

Ray: I do have a partner, and yes robots can have partners! For me, having some one like Brand as the closest person to you to fall back on in times of need is the best thing. And some one to train with whenever you're bored out of your mind helps your social life too!

You have two hours to do something relaxing and a budget of $100. What will you do?

Ray: Hmm... What is "relaxing" for me? Hmm... Buy as many tunes I can on any and all music platforms that I like, lock myself in my room, and listen to all those songs on interval for hours. I can never get tired of listening to P!nk and Taylor Swift and maybe some Madonna mixed in.

Are there any lines that you simply will not cross?

Ray: Going back to robot cannibalism. No matter what the circumstances, I will not eat another robot again for as long as I am functional. I will also not forget a single person I meet. I have a memory bank sure, but I will never delete anyone from my memory without a good enough reason, one of which I can't fathom for the life of me. So don't bother asking if I would erase a memory, because no matter the contents, my memories are what make me me. They are something for me to base my life on, and for me it makes all the difference.

Write about a moment when you felt proud of yourself.

Ray: ...When I convinced Bill to apologize to his dad, Blackwell, for landing him in a life long prison sentence unjustly and for being so reckless in his experiments. Bill may seem nice now, but his past self- and his current self to an extent- was just so arrogant of the consequences of a robot with free will AND complete control over Xel absorption. That day Bill and I visited Blackwell at the prison so Bill could apologize in person, I was so proud of not only myself, but of Bill. Plus that was a good day in general... (chuckles) I gotta remember to ask Bill if we could visit grandpa soon.

What does spring look like in your neighborhood?

Ray: Me and the Mighty Numbers live in a lively city in California, so spring doesn't really look like much of anything. The sun is lovely to watch when it sets or rises, and whatever plants the city has around will usually bloom quite nicely. But other then that, not much to say in terms of visuals. The temperature though... It's usually pretty warm with a slight pleasing breeze in it. It's California, so it's usually pretty warm year-round, but spring always seems to bring that particular breeze with it so it's not as hot as it would be in summer.

If you could have one talent that you do not naturally have, what would it be?

Ray: Hmm, let me think. Naturally? That's complicated considering I'm a robot that can be programmed in whatever way imaginable with the press of a few buttons. Umm... Maybe Beck's seemingly natural pacifism? Or Pyro's leadership skills? Maybe even Dyna's electric personality? Hmm... Maybe my bae's priority driven mindset would be the best for me actually.

What expert do you wish could come teach you what they know?

Ray: Zero, no questions about it. Zero is just so well built for combat under extreme pressure. I can do that too sure, but that's practically Zero's whole life. He's made it his life to fight mavericks with every percent of his powers. He has also learned to never stop learning about his past, which is something I admire greatly. We've met and all, but I would appreciate it if me and him could sit down one day and freely talk of our past experiences and see if we can learn something from one another.

What do you do, even when you do not feel like it?

Ray: Getting Raven out of trouble all the time. She seriously needs to learn to stop making enemies one of these days. Occupational hazard I suppose. (Shrugs)

What grinds your gears and really annoys you?

Ray: When people talk trash about my little brother's game. Stop making fun of Mighty No. 9 you a**wipes! You've beaten a dead horse too much already and it really pisses me off! Especially when I get judged for it just because I'm a DLC character for the game!😠

Write about an item you own that is not worth much money but has great value to you.

Ray: 😕Oh. Well, um... God this'll sound so embarrassing😖. I, um... have this plush lion named James I sleep with sometimes😳. It sounds ridiculous for an independent female robot like myself I know, but... James is one of the few things I have that was actually from before I got amnesia and became a robot cannibalistic monster. Bill gave it to me after he finally got it through his head just how good it felt to apologize to his dad and realized he was MY dad, since he built me you know. He said he had been keeping that lion in his attic for ages, in case I ever came home. When I held the plush for the first time, I suddenly had a memory come to me of myself playing with James, taking him everywhere, and holding him like a child would their favorite toy. And memories of my past, even to this day, is hard for me to come by. So I don't care what anyone says, that lion plush means more to me then any modern technology money can buy! And if you dare tell anyone about this, I swear to God I'll- (Lolbit: We'll be right in a moment. 😅)

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

Ray: Let me think... "You know, for a b***h, you're actually a pretty alright gal once you let yourself open up." Why is that the best? Because I'll never forget the look in her face when I responded "Same can be said about you Raven. Minus the part about being a b***h obviously. You're not one of those of course; just an a**hole." Classic! 😂

I actually hope this may spark some questions for my old ask book for the Under Our Wings cast. I just kinda please ask of you that the questions actually sound like questions and not requests. And before you think that a dare is the same as a request, it's not. A dare is like "do this or you suck" and a request is like "can you do this for me?" you know? I didn't get too many of these sort of questions of course. I'm just saying that requests are kinda like a dare just not enforced like blackmail or something.

Opf, anyway. If you want to see more of these character responses to writing prompts, just request a character that's been featured in any of my books (meaning not just books associated with the Under Our Wings crossover series, but also any AU books like Misfits. Though the characters will talk like they're from Under Our Wings unless you want to specifically request the Misfits version of the character, which I might consider). Like I said, consider this my Christmas gift to you all this year! And honestly I really would like to do this again!
