Silver and Gold
Once we got to the admissions stand, Gaara and I argued about who would pay. I said I could pay for both of us, but he argued back and said he would sooner wear a pink princess dress than allow me to pay. I gave in, once I saw there wasn't even a crack in his determination. I didn't want to spend the whole dance arguing with him. Once we got to the room the dance was being held in, I held in a gasp. The student council must have put their all into decorating the room. The color theme was silver and gold.
There were gold and silver balloons taped to the walls, and silver confetti strewed all over the floor. The banners were intricately drawn, with a moon and stars and our school logo and name. I wonder who drew them. I found myself drawn to the snack bar, and found cupcakes with gold frosting and silver star sprinkles. I ate one, which was delicious! Then I ate another. Then another. When Hinata came over, I had already eaten six. People probably thought I was a pig.
"Sak-kura-chan, d-do you think I can hang out with you since we're both alone?" Hinata asks timidly. She's wearing a pale lavender dress, which has straps and ends at the knee, her shoes are flats too, which are the same color as her dress. Her hair is up in an intricate bun and she's wearing a pair of amethyst earrings. It's simple, but beautiful and really brings out her opal eyes.
"Of course!" I say, but find my eyes wandering for where Gaara disappeared to. He was by Naruto and Neji, drinking a glass of the punch.
"Do you think...Naruto-kun will ever notice me?" Hinata asks quietly, staring in the same direction I was. My eyes snap to her and I can see the adoration in her eyes when she looks at him. And I can see the resentment in her eyes when she looks at me.
"Just so you know, I don't think of Naruto that way. He's like my best friend, nothing more, nothing less."
She looks shocked at my words.
"But you could have him! He obviously likes you," she says sadly.
"He's a sweet guy, but he deserves someone who won't drag his spirit down, someone who'll just make him stronger. Someone like you. Besides....he's not the one for me," I say, my eyes landing on Gaara again.
Hinata catches my gaze and her eyes widen in understanding.
"So you like Gaara-san," She says smiling softly.
"WAHHA!!?? Of course not! We're just friends that are living in the same house....oh crap did I say that out loud?!" I say, scrambling for the right words to explain our relationship.
"Oh Sakura-chan, I can tell you like him," She says, amused by my little "scene".
"Honestly...I don't know how I feel anymore," I confess.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't forehead and freaky eyes," a voice says. And, surprise, surprise, it's Karin, with Ino behind her. Karin's wearing a dress the same color as her red hair, which is a long dress. I suppose it would be elegant if there wasn't a huge slit that went all the way up to her butt. Not to mention it was also strapless and showed a lot of cleavage. Her hair was more messy than usual, as she obviously attempted to curl her hair. She was wearing stilettos that were the same cherry red as the dress. Her makeup was really bold, with dark winged eyeliner and bright red lipstick.
Ino was wearing a purple two-piece dress, which showed some of her toned stomach. It had detailed flowers etched into pretty patterns. Her long-ass hair was down and snaked almost to her butt. She wore purple stilettos and had a more subtle makeup look than Karin's. But I guess anything is subtle compared to Karin.
"Wow, even when you try to look good, you look like trash," Karin snarks. I curl my lip in distaste, not wanting her to bother us. I step in front of Hinata in a protective manner, so she doesn't get hurt.
"Oh, so you're protective of that shy loser?" She scoffs.
"What do you want?" I demand.
"I want you to stop talking to Sasuke!"
"And I want you to leave me alone, but sometimes we don't get what we want."
"UGH! Sakura I wish I could just strangle you!!" She says walking towards me angrily, her hands held out in front of her in a threat. She's almost an arm's length away when a hand grabs her shoulder, stopping her.
"Karin...lets just leave them alone," Ino says, trying to reason with her.
"Why should I?! She deserves to learn a lesson!"
"No Karin, You're the one who deserves to learn a lesson!" Ino blurts out.
Karin looks at her shocked and angry.
"I'm sorry. Let's go find Sasuke. Maybe we can get you a date," Ino says quickly, pulling the now peppy Karin off to wherever Sasuke is.
Once they're both gone, I turn back to Hinata.
"I'm sorry about that, by hanging out with me, you're painting a target on yourself. You don't have to if you don't want to," I say sadly.
"I'm not going anywhere Sakura-chan! Your one of my first real friends, who doesn't mind how shy I am."
I give Chesire cat like grin and give a big hug to Hinata. She instantly hugs me back.
"Thanks, Hinata-chan," I whisper.
"No problem," She whispers back.
I pull back and smirk at her.
"Now, let's go get you a dance with Naruto," I say mischievously.
"But he doesn't even know I exist!" She exclaims sadly.
"I promise I will get that dense idiot to notice you, even if I have to scream "Date Hinata or I'll kill you" in his face," I say, feeling determined to make Naruto fall in love with Hinata.
"You're the best!" She says happily.
"I know," I said cheekily.
To be continued......
