When the sun was at its highest...

Link and Johd were on a hunt. For the last person alive. Neither of them wanted to speak about what came AFTER, so they were focused on right now. And right now alone.

"Where do you think they went?" Johd asked.

"I'm not sure," Link admitted, "Maybe the Cornucopia?"

Johd shrugged, "Worth a shot."

The duo marched promptly from there to the Cornucopia. They peered out from a hidden spot in the trees.

But saw nothing.

They hesitated for just a bit longer, when Link's head suddenly snapped to a certain point directly across from them, then narrowed his eyes.

"Johd, look!"

Johd saw. Just an ounce of moment. A second. A rustle in the trees. One would normally just blame it on the wind.

But there was no wind in the arena.

A girl's face appeared, squinting cautiously around. Exactly like Johd and Link were.

"There. That's her," Johd said.

"Kefira. I can only wonder what happened to Marisa. But I'm not surprised. How do we beat her?" Link thought out loud, not really expecting an answer.

"I don't suggest we run out into the Cornucopia," Johd turned around, thinking, "I think we should go around--"

But while Johd had turned, Link had managed to steady his bow and fire an arrow. At Kefira.

Except he missed. Horribly.

Which honestly? It didn't surprise Johd.

"You're a complete dumba--"

Link sprinted out of their cover in the trees, seeing as Kefira had started running too. Kefira dashed at full-speed back into the trees, and kept going.

Johd desperately sprinted after Link and Kefira.

And the chase began.

Link continued to shoot an arrow or two every now and then, but did so sparingly. He was nearly out of arrows.

Kefira knew she had four throwing knives, but did not use them. Not yet. She was smarter than that. She would wait until they caught her--which she knew they would eventually. She had used up almost all of her energy in the beginning of her sprint.

Johd paced himself. Although he was behind Link quite a bit--not even out of vision--he would run for much longer. He figured Link and Kefira were tired.

Kefira scrambled underneath a tree trunk that was about 2 feet above the ground, while both Link and Johd merely hurdled over it.

Kefira's breath was heavy, the taste of blood in her throat--even though she wasn't bleeding. Her lungs and her legs alike screamed for rest, but she couldn't rest. Not yet.

Kefira made a sharp turn, hoping to throw Johd and Link off of her. Even if it was just for a second.

Kefira could see the Cornucopia. She was nearly in an opening. Which was what she wanted. An open area made it easier for her to aim her throwing knives. Though she knew it would be easier for Link as well, she figured she had better aim overall.

However, an arrow dug into her left shoulder suddenly, and she was torn to the ground with a shriek.

Kefira pulled herself back to her feet, panting even heavier than when she had been running. She leaned against a tree for support, blood streaming from her shoulder.

She put her hand on the arrow, closed her eyes, and pulled it out in a sharp, swift movement. She was either going to die right here, or get help, so it didn't matter that it was bleeding more now.

Kefira's grip then tightened on her throwing knives. She had four. That was 2 for each of them.

This was her final stand.

Johd and Link then appeared.

She glared, swiftly hiding her throwing knives against her wrist.

Link readied his bow, ready to swoop in for the kill.

Kefira leaped into action. Her left arm was useless--but her legs weren't.

She flung a throwing knife directly at Johd--knowing that whether she hit him or not, it would distract both of them.

Kefira missed. But Link had turned to see. That was what she needed.

Kefira then threw her second knife, at Link instead.

Right as Link turned back, the knife found it's mark. In Link's stomach.

He stumbled backwards, but did not fall.

Johd growled with an indescribable rage, then muttered to Link, "Do it. Kill her."

Link blinked and shook his head, almost seeming to be...

dizzy? Kefira realized with a smirk.

Link's bow was ready, but Link swayed. Kefira threw again. And Link released the arrow, the unwillingly dropped the bow to help prevent his stomach from falling out.

Kefira had thrown her third knife at Johd, but did not get a chance to see if it hit.

Kefira collapsed to the ground, clutching at the arrow that had found itself in Kefira's throat--just barely above her collarbone--dead center.

It was too late.

The final thing Kefira saw was Johd swooping down on her to take her final throwing knife away from her dead body.

Kefira wasn't alone any longer.
