Rhys had accepted her fate.

At first, you know, she had tried to run.

But with her injured leg there was no way she was going to outrun anyone.

She stood still as the boy from Nine came up to her quickly.

Rhys sighed.

The boy--she thought his name was Louis if she remembered correctly--was silent.

It was then that Rhys noticed he had no weapon.

Suddenly, Louis said quietly, "...Want to be allies?"

"Do I really have a choice?"

"Well, I mean you don't have to--"

Rhys shook her head. That wasn't what she meant.

She looked down at her leg.

"Oh. I see," Louis looked away.

"So we ARE allies then?"

"Sure."

"Alright then, I guess. So what's our plans then?" Rhys asked.

"I don't know."

"I think we need to find some water source."

"Fair enough. Let's get going then."

"Wait. Do you hear that?" Rhys suddenly asked.

"Hear what--?" Louis asked.

"Shhh!!! Let me listen."

Louis fell quiet, and Rhys listened.

She couldn't hear anything else at first, and thought maybe she was just going crazy.

Then she heard it.

It was... crying?

Louis seemed to hear it too.

"...crying... Should we check it out?"

Rhys thought for a moment. It could be a trap. But it didn't sound like a trap.

But Rhys knew that some people were very good at acting.

"Yes," Rhys finally decided, "But carefully."

Louis only nodded, and they started to follow the whisper on the wind.

It grew louder, slowly, and no one jumped out of the tress to ambush them.

Rhys didn't lower her guard.

She suddenly spotted the person that had been crying.

A girl that looked around 17 with long, straight black hair sat with her head in her hands.

Rhys looked over at Louis, unsure of what to do.

But he looked just as confused as she was.

Rachett wasn't too sure of what to do next.

Yes, the Careers were long gone. But he never really cared about those stuck up Career people anyway.

The only issues he had was the Careers were safe AND well-stocked. He had no supplies, and no protection.

Yeah, he had a weapon--a bow and arrow--and he was definitely prepared and able to use it, that was different.

He just wandered aimlessly through the forest, partially hoping he would run into someone.

Maybe Clara? She hadn't really seemed to "fit" with the Careers. But she was District Two...

But she'd be just as un-stocked as he was.

So probably not.

He wanted to run into someone who was alone, well-stocked, and not good with weapons.

Because he would certainly.

He did end up running into some people, however.

But they hardly met any of his requirements.

Johd stared at the two people in front of him.

One was Link, his temporary ally.

And the other was a stranger. Johd couldn't remember his District...

"Wow, you two? Allies?" The boy said, "I did not expect that... Not at all."

The boy looked both Link and Johd down.

Johd snapped, "Are you looking for a fight?!"

The boy didn't even blink, instead commenting, "Yeah, I guess I kinda see you two, honestly."

"What?" Link asked.

"Okay, okay, wait a moment," the boy said, putting up with hand--the other, Johd just noticed, held a bow and arrow.

"You're lucky we haven't killed you already," Johd rolled his eyes.

The boy shook his bow and arrow VERY noticeably. He then looked at Link--who also had a bow and arrow.

"Oh, wait. You. I remember you," he then said.

"From where?" Link seemed to be impatient.

"You killed Manny, didn't you? That was definitely you."

Link's face went pale, and he said nothing. Johd instantly knew. Link HAD killed Manny, whoever that was.

"So what?" Johd answered for Link, as Johd stepped forward.

"I didn't mean anything by it. Just kinda surprising that he killed a Career, that's all."

Maybe allying with Link had been a bad idea...

He had managed to take out a Career! Who's to say Link won't try to take out Johd...

Johd shook his head. "What do you want?"

The boy said no more, instead he seemed to be lost in thought.

"I think it's time we stopped talking..." The boy suggested.

Johd came to the conclusion that this boy was crazy. He was outnumbered, and he seemed to be slow, and not very smart.

The boy pulled up his bow, and Link did the same.

The boy shot at Johd, and Johd dodged an arrow to the heart.

But he took an arrow directly in the shoulder.

Link fired at the boy, and his arrow cut across the boy's cheek.

The boy shot yet again--at Link this time--and missed.

Link shot the boy in the knee, and the boy stumbled backward.

The boy raised his bow again, but Link fired another arrow.

Link missed, but it was enough to send the boy fleeing--stumbling--through the trees.

Link stepped forward, about to chase him down...

but then turned his attention to Johd.

"What do we do now?"

"I don't know."

It was all Kefira could offer.

She looked around at her allies: Zane and Marisa.

After she saved them, Zane apologizes profusely for leaving her behind.

But Kefira brushed it away. She had left them first. At the Bloodbath, she'd grabbed the item that was closest to her--a bag--and ran into the woods.

Inside that bag, she found the throwing knives she'd used to save them--along with matches, and a water filter.

But she still felt awful for leaving them in the first place.

"So we just... sit in the Cornucopia until the Tributes come to us then?" Zane said, slightly sarcastic.

"And then what? We don't really have much defense," Marisa pointed out.

"Kefira grabbed her throwing knives. And what happened to the knife that you had... from earlier," Zane seemed to be avoiding saying... something... directly.

Kefira was clearly missing something.

But what?

What had happened when she wasn't with them?

"I still have it," Marisa admitted, "But I don't know if I do anything with it."

Marisa held forward a blood-stained knife.

"I'm sorry, but what happened?!" Kefira exclaimed.

"Zane got attacked. At the Cornucopia. I saved him. With... this," Marisa explained.

Kefira had a feeling Marisa was leaving out A LOT of details, but Kefira asked no more questions.

"Back to the question at hand, then," Kefira only said. "What are we going to do?"

"I think we have to go, go find something. Water, food, people, whatever. But we need to go," Zane said.

"Fair enough," Marisa shrugged.

"Let's go, then."
