Coronation

A/N: You guys! This is the last one! I can't believe it.....🤩

*******

Karen's POV

This is it.

Today's the day.

That I will be crowned.

Queen of Eponine.

More specifically, High Queen of Eponine.

My nerves are slowly consuming me like a parasite and I cannot even guarantee, that I won't faint when they hand me the scepter and the gem. My gown sits there, all ready to be worn by me. That thing weighs like a bitch. Made of various materials, velvet being the majority of them, its crimson red color reminds me of vampires in medieval times.

I have to wear a corset on the inside, and I have no idea, how to breathe in that thing. After all, corsets are famous for not making women breathe freely. A carpet-like-cape also accompanies my ensemble, with the same blood-red color.

The best part of the outfit is my contradicting simple jewelry. A ruby studded necklace and matching earrings, both of which are heavy as well. So basically, I will be weighed down with my outfit.

I knock sounds on my door.

"Katarina?" voices the familiar deep sound.

"Come in..." I groan, falling back into the bed and Caspian stands at my door, smirking. "What are you smirking at?" I growl and he chuckles, walking over to me. I groggily wrap my arms around him, when he plops himself on my bed.

"Happy coronation day!" he greets and in turn, I groan. "Come on..... it's your coronation today! Don't be grumpy!"

"I want to cuddle...." I whine, grumpily rubbing my face on his chest.

"Aww......" he voices rubbing his hand up and down on my back. "Iris and Kevin woke up early today! What happened to you, love?" he asks.

"I'm just....nervous, I guess..." I shrug.

"You'll do great, darling!"

Caspian kisses me and then leaves, to take care of his role during the ceremony. Shortly after, my breakfast is delivered to the room and once that is done, it's Iris's and Kevin's turn to show up.

They look fabulous.

"Uh....why on earth is your hair still messy, and why are you in your damn nightgown?" asks Kevin, observing me, head to foot.

"I'll be dressed once those ladies come and start their work on me."

Iris starts rolling her hips in awkward directions, earning a weird look from me. "This corset sucks!" she remarks.

"Take a look at mine! I'm dreading that thing!" I tell, directing my hand toward my dress.

"I look like Mr. Darcy!" Kevin remarks, observing himself in my mirror.

Iris, the book nerd, raises an eyebrow. "That is not how Mr. Darcy looked like!"

"Well, Caspian is dressed in armor!" Kevin smirks, as though it's a dumb thing for Caspian to dress like that.

"He is the commander, Kevin!" I remind him.

We chit chat for a few minutes as usual, before the 'stylists' arrive and drive my friends out. They ask me to strip into my undergarments, which weirdly for them, is a bra and panties.

They begin tying the corset knots behind me tightly, and despite my protests to make it looser, they say tight is the way it has to be tied.

I step inside my velvet gown, whose numerous knots are also fastened by Akele. They do my hair and makeup as well, which was a tight updo, adorned with ruby studded pins and natural makeup respectively. Thankfully, they finish within an hour and then leave me alone to collect my senses.

The only thing remaining in my outfit is my shoes.

I'll be the first-ever female monarch of Eponine. My only question is, can I be any more special? I think not. And Caspian is going to have his hardest time taking off my corset tonight.

I close my eyes and spent some time focussing just on my breathing before I show myself at the top of the grand stairs at the throne room.

Once I am crowned, I am the queen. I will take care of the people. I will choose how the laws work. I will be spending the royal treasury. It'll depend on me, how rich the country will be. National relations will depend on me. And I am only seventeen freaking years old.

But maybe I'll ace this thing. Hell, I am Katarina. Of course, I can do this!

I put on my golden-winged heels, praying that I don't fall when I walk up to the Queen Mother (my mother). Once I open the doors to my room, I am escorted to the throne room by the commander in chief who, funnily enough, happens to be my boyfriend.

Eponian coronation traditions are both very different but also identical to the British traditions, in my observation. For example, oaths. An exact copy of how Queen Elizabeth was crowned.

Once we reach the grand golden doors of the throne room, we stop. I inhale a lungful of air, before I nod, signaling them to open the doors.

The grand doors open, agonizingly slowly, and I am greeted with a long aisle to the beautiful crown that is about to be bestowed upon my head. The choir sings from the second level, my mother and Abner stand on the podium, all ready to crown me.

Upon my arrival, the choir smoothly ends the song with Caspian announcing my arrival.

"I here present unto you Katarina Silvus Floarea, your undoubted Queen-to-be. Wherefore all you who are come this day to do your homage and service, are you willing to do the same?"

The people acclaim me on each side. The Queen Mother signals me to come forward, and I begin walking, taking long, yet elegant strides to the end of the long aisle. Every pair of eyes upon me, every bit of respect and admiration for me, I feel... pressured yet proud and honored.

I notice mom and dad, Iris' and Kevin's parents, and finally Iris and Kevin, to whom I give a small smile.

Once I reach the end, the hall falls silent. I kneel on the cushion placed on the podium for me before I take my oath. And in the pin-drop silence, the queen mother drops her first question.

"Are you willing to take the Oath, Princess?" asks the Queen Mother.

I breathe. "I am willing."

Here goes everything.

She begins."Will, you solemnly promise and swear to govern the People of Eponine and your possessions and the other territories to any of them belonging or pertaining, according to their respective laws and customs?" she asks.

"I solemnly promise to do," I reply.

"Will you, to your power cause Law and Justice, in Mercy, to be executed in all your judgments?"

"I will."

"Will you, solemnly promise to protect the Jewel of the nation, the Borat with your utmost power? Will you to your utmost power, vow to avail the Borat of the nation's undivided growth and success? Will you solemnly promise to maneuver it to no extend of abuse of your power?"

"All this I promise to do. The things which I have here before promised, I will perform, and keep." I tell and mother smiles. She then recites some sort of prayer in Latin during which, I bow my head down in respect. Once the prayer is done, the choir sings The Anthem of Chus.

Mother signals me to sit on the Coronation chair during the anthem, and the four Knights of Elsent march over to me, holding a canopy of golden cloth over my head. The funniest thing about knights is that they act like robots. I have to look away to not burst into laughter.

She brings a vial of holy oil to me, mutters an inaudible prayer, and anoints me it. Her thumb, coated with the oil, draws U's on my forehead, chest, and palms of my hand, while I keep my eyes closed in divinity. The aroma of the oil fills my nostrils, and I inhale deeply as I open my eyes, catching a smirk on my mother's lips.

Abner picks up the scepter from the set of crown jewels and walks over to me, bowing to me once he reaches. He hands me the glowing scepter, and mother hands me the Blue gem which I, a minute ago, vowed to protect with my life.

Golden light spreads from its center to the rest of its body upon the skin of my fingers touching it. With the regalia invested, mother takes the crown to be placed upon my head.

My mind races to the beginning.

We don't know what can happen to us in the next minute. We might smile, laugh, cry, hurt, or even die. But what you don't expect is to be transported into another dimension on the way back from school and be crowned the Queen of a magical nation called Eponine.

"I now proclaim, Katarina Silvus Floarea, as High Queen of Eponine!"

I hear as I feel the diamond-studded crown that I once admired be bestowed upon my head. I rise from the ancient chair, holding the scepter, and the Golden Borat in my hands, and look at the crowd.

"Long Live Queen Katarina!" the crowd sings, and a thrill of ecstasy passes through my skin.

These are my people. And I am their Queen.

The most powerful monarch, ever in the millennium history of Eponine.

And my friends and parents stand in front of me; I can see the pride in their eyes.

To think, my name was Karen Hill, and I believed that I was a normal human is crazy. Because I was abandoned by my own father. Because finding the Borat was never easy.

I found my true self, I found my love in Caspian, and I found the depth of my friendship with Iris and Kevin and lastly... I found out what is heartbreak.

And it all started with a magic mirror!
