Karen's POV

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read the letter. My hope of finding something here, in this deep hole was very meager. And yet I find this. Etine, he found me. And he knew everything about the prophecy, about what I am, and that Entonia will come for me but yet he decided it to be the way it is meant to be. Like this.

Am I willing to forgive him? For being an ignorant king and a heartless father? I don't know. I don't even feel like caring anymore. Etine is not even alive anymore.

He came all the way here to leave this letter for me. How did he even know that I would decide to look here, three thousand feet under the ground? What if  I had died? We were close to dying plenty of times. But even if I died no one would ever find this letter, would they? And I wouldn't die.

Maybe it was destiny that led me here. To decide to look for damn clues right where the Borat was first found. Because Etine left it in here and I decided to go to the exact place.

He wrote that I lived with it right beside me. I lived in my house before Entonia decided to show up and break the hell loose. He wrote that I protected it and that it protected me. As far as I can remember, I don't remember taking care of anything. The gem might have kept me safe, for it calls me, but I don't think I did anything to keep it safe.

And all my powers and visions started showing up only once I started having a direct connection to Eponine. Once I set foot in Eponine and once I started living there. So obviously, I won't sense the Borat unless I had been in Eponine.

'Go back to where you came from'. I came from within the humans. From the normal world. Does that mean..... that it's actually there?

All this can add to only one place. My home. My parents' home. Where I have lived my whole freaking life.

But how would Etine even get there?

"Katarina!"

Caspian's voice jolts me back to reality. He holds my upper arm, while it holds the thick piece of parchment.

"I think I know where the Borat is!" I murmur.

"What are you saying?" asks Darius.

"It's at my house...."

"In what!?" exclaims Iris.

"It's been beside me, and I should go back to where I came from. What the hell would that mean?" I ask.

"But how can you be so sure, Karen? We've been roaming around for so long in this dimension while the Borat has been in your goddamn house this whole time?" Kevin asks.

"I'm sure, Kevin. Because there can be no other place!" I argue.

"Can we start to leave then? This place is suffocating me now!" Iris informs and all of us prepare to leave.

I carefully put the letter inside my bag and we quickly begin our ascent towards the top. The whole time, my mind is occupied with questions. Questions that only Etine can answer. How did he find me? When did he realize that I was the one for Erad's prophecy? How did he manage to hide it? How could he slip into my house unnoticed? Have I ever seen him? How did he die?

Kevin and Iris keep collecting minerals, some of which I don't even recognize and Kevin is easily able to tell which is mineral and which is not. We are careful to stick to the walls of the hole since there aren't any rails made on the stairs. Still, we are very grateful to those ancient miners who built this effective method of getting down.

I while later, I hear Caspian.

"You okay?" I hear Caspian's voice, ask me from above.

I nod. "Yeah, I'm fine! Can we stop here? For ten minutes?" I ask and the whole team halts.

The familiar feeling of danger lingers in my heart. Like there is something coming but I don't what.

What could possibly happen here?

"I was waiting for someone to ask. We need thirty minutes Caspy caspy, not ten! I'm freaking exhausted!" Iris whines dramatically.

"You're exhausted all the time!" Caspian remarks and she scowls at him. It's not like he is wrong though.

We take our breaks, feeding on our now limited supplies. My heart feels heavy. Maybe it's because of this atmosphere of tension that I am surrounded with. It very dark and quiet, almost scary and maybe that's what is making me feel this way.

There can't be any danger here.

Iris's POV

We end our rest shortly, much to my annoyance, and resume climbing. My legs are slowly turning to lead, and all my energy is being spent on dragging my heavy legs up each step. I swear to god, maybe it's just my instinct but swimming is way better than using legs.

If my energy starts draining, even more, I'll be forced to transform and be a burden to my friends. And I hate doing that.

A-Angel-  I hear the voice on the back of my head. Delmar?

Delmar? I call out.

Angelus? C-Can you hear me? Iris? He asks.

How the hell are you doing that? I don-

Iris, don't stop anything that you're doing right now, don't stop walking, and don't close your eyes. Just listen to what I say! He urges me. I do as he said, watching my steps more carefully than before since now I have to listen to him as well.

Alright. I say.

Watch each of your steps, Iris. I don't mean literally. Among you guys is a traitor. I won't be telling you who it is but the Princess's life is in danger. He warns.

What are you talking about?

Angelus, listen to me. Please. Make your way up this cavern immediately. For me to be able to communicate with you is awfully difficult when you are in human form. He informs and then cuts off the link.

Yeah, and to understand you without clarity in what you tell is awfully difficult as well, Delmar.

Just then, an awfully loud scream pierces my ears from behind me. Instinctively, I turn around, my eyes catching the silhouette of a body about to fall right down the deep hole.

My hands rise up, energy in the form of water flowing out of them faster than ever, and the stream encircles the person, holding them mid-air in a giant blob of water. I gasp when I realize who the person is.

"Karen!" Kevin yells in shock as I stay frozen in place, seeing her panicked expression. Her face holds a mixture of emotions. Shock and fear are spread on her face but they also hold.....betrayal. And it all comes into sense when I see what happens next.

Darius curses under his breath, pure rage spread over his face. His ocean blue eyes, which I found serene and hypnotizing, now looks cold as the ice that lay in the north pole. They're set on me and fear rips through me seeing his kinesics. Fists clenched, anger spread out in every cell of his body, he launches at me, his large hand closing over my throat.

"Why is it always you, huh? Why can't you let me have my way with her for once, bitch?" he growls into my ear.

Before my flabbergasted self could utter a single word, Caspian's voice rips the air.

"What the hell, Darius?" he yells. But Darius pays no heed to his brother but instead closes his fingers tighter over my throat with every passing second.

"L-Lea-ve!" I choke.

"Release the damn water!" he growls.

I see a familiar hand on Darius's shoulder, pressing hard on to him, most likely trying to push him away from me.

"Stop it boy, one small push and you find yourself dead on the base of this damn hole!" he threatens Kevin. Someone pulls him away and when Darius's focus is on them, I take this opportunity to bring Karen back to her foot. I drag my hand sideways, the large bubble moving along the movement.

"C-Cas-pian!" I choke out loud, to signal him to pull Karen up and he does just that. Once Karen is on her foot, I sigh in relief.

"H-He pushed me off!" she pants.
