Arc 10.3
Fanrong, like usual, now that he was going to destroy the plot, was at the coffee shop where the female lead, Jessie, owned. His eyes would connect with her's at times, sometimes they would chat about anything and everything. As their nights went by, Jessie began to like this beautiful man before her. Her flirting style never lessened, and in fact she seemed to be more aggressive than usual.
Of course he was only able to come during the night, as he was a pure blood, with his consumption of blood it gave him enhanced abilities that the original vampires like his parents held. He of course was one of the old fashioned vampired, at the young age of 400 years old he had taken a bored but interest in humanity and had moved towards civilization and away from his parents that lived deep in the woods. Killing and hunting humans that dared to camp in their territory. Or when they would kidnap and treat humans as cattle, growing them and keeping them healthy, making sure they didn't hold any types of disease. It wasn't because they could catch the disease. On the contrary it only made them sick for a couple of days. And even humans hate getting sick, there was no difference in that topic when it came towards other supernatural, it was just simply harder for them to gain viruses.
During this time and age most humans believed that they didn't even exist in the first place. In a way they don't, vampires have evolved through immense time, adapting towards their surroundings, nowadays they didn't need to feed on defenceless humans. Instead, if they didn't feed on humans, they would be like regular humans, if they did they would begin to acquire immense power and supernatural strength. But they were nowhere near the pure bloods who never followed the new era rules and instead kept to their usual feedings. These pure bloods couldn't move out in the daylight, just like in comics or movies and books. They held sun as their weakness, but other known weaknesses were entirely false and even laughable. They love garlic, and a crucifix was something they always held on to, vampires were religious to the iron-like bones in their undying bodies.
He was at his usual booth now, when he wasn't in the cafe he would keep a close eye on the female lead, knowing her route from her home and the cafe, and her meeting and scheming during the day when he had placed a werewolf at her scent when he couldn't go out.
Jessie sat in front of him while they talked casually and Ruby had taken the liberty to make it a constant reminder that he was there, even if he didn't hint that he either disliked her or even liked her.
"This seems odd, but how about we play twenty questions?" She said with a smile.
"I don't know what that is sorry." Ruby said with a raise brow, feigning confusion.
"Really? How did you grow up, in a cave?" She joked.
"Kind of, my parents were very overprotective when I was a child, they would let me go out at all, I was homeschooled as well. I believe you're the fifth friend Ive had for my entire life." He gave a small smile as he thought deeply.
"I'm sorry for bringing it up." Jessie said now feeling bad.
"Not at all, it's fine really, I'm used to it, you can ask me any questions truly." He smile wider for the first time since they've meet.
"Alright, well where were you born?" She said as she leaned back into her booth.
"In my home. It was a home birth, like I had said. My parents hate anyone and everyone, they don't associate with others more than they have to. I was brought up in a strict diet and never allowed outside, if I didn't do as I was told they would threaten by kicking me out of the house. Even then at the age of ten I was terrified, my parents are the only ones I knew. What would I do out in the world?" He lifted a side of his lips with a nervous look on his face.
"What about relatives?"
"Just like my parents, they were strict to their own children, and their own religion. We couldn't do certain things or we'll be punished."
"What kind of religion?"
"We're Catholic, but they take it to a next step, we're all vegetarians, but I would sneak in some food at time when they're not looking, there had been one time where they found out about my choices and they had best me to an inch of my life." He sighed at the memory as he thought back. "I knew then that I needed to leave. But in a world where I didn't know much how could I leave."
"Well you left now right?" She asked hopefully. Complete worry and pity in her eyes.
"Sort of, since our religion was drilled into me I can't get away from it even if I wanted to. The trauma is still there so I could only look on towards other with a small hope. I don't think I'll ever get over it."
"What do you mean sort of?"
"They've given me freedom, and shown me all types of people and business. And now I'm a successful business man, but the thing is that they're still breathing over my shoulder looking at my every move and making sure I don't mess up."
"What made you come here, at night of all times?" She asked, trying to change the topic.
"Well it's quiet and not at all crowded during the night than when it's day." Ruby pondered as he thought back. "This is the only time where I could just get away and focus on what I actually enjoy.
"What do you do?"
"At day I'm a business man I manufacture and design buildings along with buying and fixing and selling stocks, when I'm here I relax and become a writer of sorts."
"A writer?" Jessie looked interested and sat down across from him in the booth without asking. "What do you write?"
"History... Fantasy history."
"Fantasy history?" Jessie looked both confused and amused. "I don't understand."
"Put it this way, it's a fantasy story, but explaining the background and history of that fantasy story, it doesn't follow a main character but multiple characters, like our own history books."
"Oh I understand." Jessie said in genuine expressiveness.
In truth Fanrong would usually write during his time in the god realm. It was the only thing he could do when never being surrounded by people, and only held in mind to the amazing battle stories that Chow would tell him when she would go out and battle with anyone and anything.
He didn't mind being alone, in fact he basked in the silence. But after he had meet that damned Huolong he couldn't help but seek the warmth of the sun.
He wasn't so sure where Huolong was at the time, but he knew that the bastard was heading towards their direction. The God always had a skill of finding him.
"So... Do you have anyone who you're interested in?" She asked suddenly.
"Sadly." Fanrong sighed. "I do."
"Why sadly?" She asked a bit bummed out that he liked someone. But also curious as to his obvious annoyance.
"They're a hand full, they act like a child when I am not around and is very overprotective, but there are perks, we will forever be together no matter what." He gave the first soft gentle smile since the first time Jessie had meet Ruby.
She wanted that look to be directed at her, not some hussy, she shall win him over, and that was settled! But first shell have to get more information.
"What's her name?" A clear villainous gleam passed through her eyes, it did not escape Fanrong's own knife like eyes.
Those were the eyes of a greedy person, she was easy to read, her intentions is to meet Huolong as kill him.
How laughable.
Predictable.
"Her name is... Chow." Fanrong held an amused look.
-
Chow sneezed as he looked around with confused. "You ok?" Someones voice came from below her. "Are you getting sick?
"No, it seems someone is talking behind my back." Chow said with a scary like grin complimenting her murderous look.
"Don't think about them, feel what we're doing right now." At the man's deep tone a pleasureble thrust went through Chow as she moaned.
This mortal is the beeesssst~ she thought in bliss.
-
"Will you ever introduce me to her?" Jessie said with an innocent smile.
"Of course, but she's occasionally busy." Ruby nodded as he looked at his phones clock.
Almost five in the morning.
"I'll get going, I have things to do early morning." Ruby bid his goodbye as he waved at Jessie goodbye.
-
It was night of the ball, in high spirits all kinds of vampires attended, old, new, blood strong, powerful, weak. And the ones who attended just to keep in touch with the old age of their brethren, even if the new vampires didn't agree in their eating habits.
The ball room was extravagant, vampires wore their usual masks and showed proudly their white fangs and radiating power. The ceiling showed the magnificent moon shining, but with the bright chandeliers hanging up high, it hid the moon with a mysterious feeling.
At a window perched onto a high tree branch was a woman covered in all black. Her outfit was menacing yet exotic. It hugged her form as if it was her second skin. On one hip held a gun. On her back a bow and arrows and on her arms gripped sightly a sniper rifle ready in case something went wrong.
"Attention everyone!" A megaphone like voice bursted throughout the huge ball room.
The vampires turned to look towards the host. Varyn Snow, his looks were that of a middle aged handsome man, women would flock to him if he had any interest in them. With silver hair tied up half way, he held a noble aura around him. And right next to him stood a beautiful woman, captivating in every way. Her dark blood red eyes made the men wish to bow down onto their knees and forever serve her. This was Corina Snow.
"I'd like to thank everyone for coming to this joyous occasion!" Varyn gave a charming smile along with his wife. "Today marks the day of another healthy year for us fossils, and with us our youngest and only son will be turning four hundred years old."
On signal everyone clapped and cheered for the vampire. Jessie was narrowing her eyes, she didn't know how she'll be able to take even a single vampire down if almost half of them are old one with their regular eating habits, they'll be too powerful for her alone, by the time she attacked one her head would have already be detached from her shoulders. She'll have to kill them all at the same time, and what better method to do that than poisoning their food source?
