7: Cooper

I was assigned to Draco’s room yet again, but I also had a special request. Hermione was just a few doors down, having the baby. She and Ron requested that I be in the room. I wasn’t going to deliver it, but I was going to hold Hermione’s hand threw it.

“I’m so glad you’re here,” Ron told me nervously when I arrived.

“He has no idea what to do,” Hermione said breathlessly.

“As I’m sure you do,” I said sarcastically as I motioned for Ron to be on Hermione’s other side.

“I have happened to read more than just the regular mum,” she then had a contraction.

“I’m sure you have,” I said as she crushed my hand.

“Are we ready to have this baby, Lawrence?” Cho asked as she came in.

“She is at nine centimeters and her contractions are about a minute apart,” I looked at Cho, “She’s ready to start pushing.”

“I’m not to start pushing until ten centimeters!” Hermione groaned as if she knew.

“We have the magic to push you to that tenth centimeter,” I smirked as she crushed my hand yet again.

“Wow,” Ron said as Cho handed him his son.

“He’s beautiful!” Hermione chimed.

“And look at that,” I commented, “he already has Ron’s red hair!”

“Hugo is handsome,” Ron smirked.

“Hugo? I thought we agreed on Brian,” Hermione gave him a glare.

“He looks like a Hugo,” Ron handed him to her.

She smiled down at her baby, “He does look like a Hugo!”

“Well, I have to be going,” I smiled down at little Hugo, “Good luck!”

When I walked into Draco’s room, I was surprised to find him sitting up in his bed. He looked at me funnily as I grabbed my clip board and walked over to him.

“How are you feeling?” I asked.

“Fine,” he answered, “Cooper Lawrence?”

“Yes, that’s my name, Draco,” I smiled, “Glad to see you remember me.”

“Of course I remember you. You were my best mate’s girlfriend and my friend,” I swung his feet over the bed, “I remember that I was there for you all those times Blaise was late or he had stood you up, which happened more than once.”

“Okay,” I hesitated, “I need to do some tests to get you ready to leave.”

“So I’m clear to leave?” he asked me when I was finished.

“Yes,” I finished writing on my clipboard then he gave me a hug.

“It was good to see you, Coop,” he started to walk out but turned back around, “Can I see you again?”
