5: Cooper

For the whole next week, I was assigned to Draco’s room, where he stayed unconscious. Harry had been in and out a few times. He was acting pretty strange, not like his usual self that I knew. He was in there again on this particular day, so I decided to question him about the accident.

“Hey, Harry,” I touched his shoulder.

“Oh, hey, Coop,” he said as he looked over at me.

“Harry, were you there when the accident happened?” I nodded towards Draco.

“Yes,” he put his face in his hands, “I just sat there and watched it happen too. I could’ve stopped it, but it was like I was frozen to the spot. Its all my fault, Coop,” he said as he took his hands down and looked into my eyes, “Just like I should’ve stayed next to George and Blaise.”

“What did you just say?” Did I just hear him wrong? Was he making a confession that had been bottled up for the past two years.

“What?” He was actually crying now.

“About George and Blaise?” I said as I out my hand on his arm.

“I should’ve stayed next to them when Crabbe and Goyle came over,” He couldn’t look me in the eyes, “I thought they could handle it, but I was wrong.”

“Crabbe and Goyle?” I questioned.

“Not the ones you’re thinking of, their parents,” Harry said as he looked over at Draco, “My life is full of stupid mistakes.”

“Oh, Harry,” I couldn’t help but pull him into a hug, “It’s not your fault. None of it was your fault. Everything that happens is meant to happen. You can’t stop it. It’s inevitable. It’s our fate that decides what we choose,” I pulled from the hug and sat him down in the chair next to the bed.

“I’ll be right back,” I told him as I exited the room and headed for the lab, where I concocted a potion that would help him not be so hysterical.

He drunk it right up too. It helped him not cry at least.

“Go home,” I told him, “Go home to Ginny, get some rest. I’ll send word if he wakes.”

For the rest of the day, I was in and out of Draco’s room, and when I left for the night, he was still unconscious. I made it my goal tomorrow to look for some kind of spell or potion that might help him wake.

That night, I dreamt that I was in a beautiful, white wedding dress that was off the shoulders and long to the floor. I was holding a bouquet of yellow roses and had a veil in my hair. I was walking down the aisle to Blaise.
