26: Jade

As everyone was leaving, George and I stayed behind. I had started crying, just like Coop did just a few moments ago. I wanted to run up to him and through myself into him, but I held myself back. He was the one walking closer. I always thought that I would be the one jumping into the other’s outstretched arms because that’s how it had always been for us. I guess I had changed these past three years.

“Why are you standing all the way over there still?” George said to me as he was still walking slowly over, “You’re still the tough one, I’m guessing.”

“I’m trying,” I smirked at him.

“Cooper told me that you never gave up on me,” he said as he stopped walking when he was in arm’s length of me.

“I didn’t. I spent a whole year in Romania looking for you.”

He reached out and grabbed my hand but I jerked it away, “Blue Jay?” he whispered.

“This past year has taught me a lot of things,” I started and then sighed, “I looked like an idiot when I should’ve been moving on, like Cooper. You didn’t need me to come and find you. I wasted a whole year.”

“You didn’t, Jay,” he reached for me again and I let our fingers intertwine, “You looked for me. I bet you had leads. You tried and that’s what counts.”

I slipped my hand out of his, “I don’t know, George.”

He cringed at that, “Blue Jay,” he whispered as I started walking back down the aisle.

I wanted to be with him. I really did, but I was supposed to be the strong one. So why were the tears coming on heavier and heavier. My steps slowed. I did not want to leave him. I felt like I was pulling out my own heart with my bare hands.

“You are my shining star,” I heard George singing from the front of the porch, “That is what you are,” I turned to see him making his way over to me, “There is no one like you baby. Angels everywhere. Every time you are near. You’ll always be my baby.”

I smiled at him as I found myself singing along as well, “Baby, when you do the things you do. I wanna be close to you. Cause I need your every move. Baby, I never say how much. I need your touch. I can’t get enough,” I smirked up at him, “Cause you know you turn me on.”

“You’ll always be my baby,” Georgie said as he looked me up and down with tears in his eyes, “Where has my Blue Jay gone?” he asked me as he search my eyes.

“She’s right here, Georgie,” I said as I jumped into him arms and kissed him like I wanted to do since I saw him walk down that aisle.

When we parted, he put his forehead on mine, “You know it’s okay to be weak sometimes,” he smirked at me.

“No, it’s not,” I smirked back and kissed him again.

Jade and George got married a year after he showed up at Cooper’s wedding. Cooper and Draco had a baby boy before the wedding. They named him Scorpius. Jade and George had a girl at the same time, before they got married. They named her Nymphadora.

Sixteen years later…

The four took their oldest kids to the platform 9 3/4 to go through what brought them closer…Hogwarts.
