21: Cooper

“Lawrence,” Cho said to me as soon as I stepped into the hospital, “You have emergency today.”

“Alright,” I said as I made my way up there.

I couldn’t really concentrate on my work at that day, mainly because it was the day before my wedding. I know that I shouldn’t be working on the day before my wedding, but Cho wouldn’t give me the time for the wedding and the honeymoon unless I showed up.

Some hours had passed until a serious ailment had shown up in my department. It was Pansy Parkinson, who was grabbing her abdomen in pain. She was brought in by a woman who looked shockingly like her. I guessed it was her mum.

“What’s wrong, Pansy?” I asked when I had gotten her into a room to look at her.

“I have this shocking pain in my lower stomach,” she managed to gasp.

“She’s pregnant!” her mother shrieked.

My eyes widened as I realized exactly what kind of danger this was. I managed to pry her hands away, so I could point my wand at her stomach and produce and ultrasound. When I did, I realized that the placenta had torn in two different places.

“Pansy,” I looked at her seriously, “Are you bleeding? Like as if you had your period?”

“I have been spotting this week, but that about it,” she said with a gasp of air.

I turned to her mother, “I need to take her for surgery now. If we wait any longer, the baby could die.”

She nodded as I pushed her daughter’s bed out of the room.

“Get the father of my baby!” Pansy shrieked at her as we left.

I rolled Pansy back down to her room, after two hours of magically saving her baby. She was sleeping peacefully as I tucked her in more tightly. I know that I never really liked Pansy, but today I felt sorry for her. How could this have happened to her? Who’s the father anyway? I didn’t see a ring on her finger, so it seemed liked she wasn’t married.

“Excuse me?” said a male voice from the doorway, “Is this Pansy Parkinson’s room?”

“Yes, it is,” I said as I turned to see Blaise Zambini, “Blaise?”

“Cooper?” he said as he took a step into the room, “Are you Pansy’s healer?”

“I am,” I felt like I was going to cry.

Blaise was back! My heart filled with longing. I wanted to reach out and pull him into me, but I withdrew. He had hurt me too much back at Hogwarts, and I have Draco now. I love Draco, but I did love Blaise at one point in time. My eyes filled with tears as I looked at him.

“It’s been a long time,” he said as he eyed me with no tears in his eyes.

“Where have you been all these years?” I asked him right away.

“What?” he looked at me oddly, “Why do you care? We were broken up remember?”

“I remember, but don’t you remember? Don’t you remember when you hide me in the room of requirement, promising that you would come back for me? You promised that you would marry me!” I could hardly see him through the tears that I was crying.

“What are you talking about?” he asked as he looked over at Pansy, “I promised Pansy all that and more. I love Pansy.”

“But,” I wiped away some of my tears, “but you said that you loved me. You told me when you left me in that room during the war!”

“Wh-“ he started but then stopped, “I did promise you.”

“Oh, really?” I said sarcastically.

“I am so sorry, Coop,” he said as he took a step towards me, “I have been such an asshole to you over all those years,” he looked like he just remembered, “I don’t want to be a man that does things like that. So, I will keep my promise to you,” he then put his arms around me.

“What are you doing, Blaise?” I asked as I looked up into his eyes.

“I’m doing what I’ve wanted to do since I’ve walked in this room,” he said as he wiped away some of my tears with his thumb, “What I’ve wanted to do for a long time actually,” he said as he smiled down at me, “You have graced my dreams all year long. I just didn’t know who you were because I had lost my memories due to an accident, but now I remember. I just needed to see you to remember exactly who you were.”

“Jade was out there looking for you, you know, and George too,” I said as I continued to look into his eyes.

“Pansy came and found me. I was living in this country called Romania. I was living on the streets, not knowing how to make something of myself in a strange country,” he didn’t look away either.

“You must be a little stronger now,” I had stopped crying at this point in time.

“I am, especially holding you in my arms right now,” he then kissed me.
