17: Cooper

I arrived outside the Zambini mansion. I was a little nervous, but I brushed it off and started climbing the trellis that climbed the side of the house that Blaise’s room was on. Luckily, he nor his parents were home, so I could sneak in easily. When I got inside, I slung my bag onto his bed and started to go through it. After I was finished laying out rose petals and candles around the room, I threw myself onto the bed. I just had to wait, nervously I might add.

You see, It was Blaise’s 17th birthday, so it had to be absolutely perfect, unlike our first time, which was on the Hogwarts grounds while rolling down the hill, then almost getting smashed by the Whomping Willow. That was too spontaneous for me. This time I planned it out. Plus, it was going to be in a bed, which made me less nervous.

As soon as I heard footsteps nearby, my heart jumped in my chest. I smiled as the door to the room opened, and Blaise stepped in. He wasn’t alone though. Pansy Parkinson was with him, who noticed me right away.

“What is she doing here?” she said in a snotty tone.

“Coop?” Blaise said as he looked around the room, “What are you doing here? I thought you were away in France for the summer with your parents.”

“I was,” I said standing up and getting my things together, not wanting to cry, “I just thought I would surprise my boyfriend on his birthday. Well,” I paused giving Pansy a nasty look, “Ex now.”

“Coop, let me explain!” Blaise said as he followed me out the door.

“Explain what? How I go away, and you automatically replace me with that mink!” I just kept walking to the front door, but Blaise grabbed my arm and led me to the back one.

“I’m sorry. I wasn’t planning on this happening!” he said as he opened the door for me.

“I at least thought that you would fight to keep me inside,” I said as he shoved me onto the first step.

“I’m sorry, Coop, but how can I change your mind when you’ve already made it up? You’re too stubborn,” he said as he closed the door behind me.

I started crying and walking in a random direction. When I realized that I was walking, I was in Draco’s back yard. He was neighbors with Blaise. I looked up at the house and saw someone in a window on the third floor. The person then disappeared.

“Hey!” yelled a very familiar voice, “What are you doing?!” there was then a pause as the figure got closer, “Coop?” asked Draco.

I looked at him through my tears. He reached out for me, but I pulled away and looked up at Blaise’s window, which was visible from where I was standing. I saw two figures in the window that looked like they were embracing each other. The tears streamed even faster.

“Coop?” he asked again as I popped out of view.

“Coop?” Draco asked me as he wiped away a tear from my cheek.

“Drake?” I asked back as I wiped my face dry.

“Why were you crying?” he said as he took my hands in his.

“Nothing,” I said quickly and took my hands away.

“Rae,” he said as he reached out to touch my face, but I pulled away, “Were you thinking about Blaise?”

I didn’t answer. I couldn’t tell him, but he figured it out anyway from my silence and pulled me into his lap as his arms went around me. I put my forehead against his and looked into his ice grey eyes. He truly loved me. I could tell from the look in his eyes. Blaise never looked at me like that. How did I not know that he didn’t love me all those years that we dated? I loved him very much. I still did unfortunately, but I now had Draco. I loved him too. Was it really possible to be in love with two men?

“I love you, Rae. I would never hurt you like he did,” he said as he searched my eyes with his.

“I love you too, Drake,” I then kissed him gently as he just held me.

“Rae?”

“Yes?”

“Will you marry me?” I pulled back a little and looked at him while I hesitated.

“Will you marry me, Coop?”

Blaise had asked me to marry him in our sixth year. We were walking around the grounds on the last day of exams. We were so in love, or I thought we were. He had pushed me into the lake after I had pushed him in. We kissed as we were lying in the shallow part when he asked me. I said yes right away.

This time was different. I knew that Draco was not going to hurt me, but I still had those feelings for Blaise, even though it had been over two years since I had seen him. I looked into Draco’s eyes one more time, and my heart melted. I nodded yes as he kissed me passionately.
