A Promise Pt. 2- A Little Bug

A few weeks after Louie and Dewey shared their brotherly moment in school, it was now spring break and the family was about to go on a nice relaxing yacht trip, but, Louie sniffed and wiped his eyes of his tears. He boarded his uncle's yacht following his brothers.

"Keep up Lou." Dewey laughed.

"Coming, coming." His voice was slightly hoarse, he sniffed once again. As he boarded the boat, he became slightly dizzy.

"Are you okay?" Huey and Dewey asked in unison.

"Yeah, allergies." He answered. He put his hand on his forehead as he closed his eyes tightly. Dewey looked over at Huey in worry. The blue triplet made his way over towards his younger brother.

"It seems to be a bit more than allergies." Huey added from behind. Dewey placed the back of his hand on Louie's forehead.

"He's burning up." Dewey answered.

"I'm, okay. I'm not sick." Louie defended.

"Yes you are." Dewey stated sternly, shocking Huey slightly. He walked over to his uncles. "Uncle Donald, Uncle Scrooge." He started.

"What is it Dewey?" Donald asked.

"I think Louie has a fever." He answered. Donald and Scrooge looked back at the green clad duckling and saw that he was leaning on his eldest brother for support.

"I think I should stay behind to take care of him." Dewey offered.

"You can't stay behind by yourselves." Scrooge stated.

"Please! I promise I'll be careful! I know what I'm doing." Donald sighed.

"Okay, I'm trusting you to, one, take care of your brother, two, be responsible and call us if anything goes wrong, and three, not break, anything, in your Uncle Scrooge's mansion. Got that?" Dewey nodded and hugged his uncle.

"Thank you." He walked back over to his brothers and grabbed Louie's hand.

"What are you doing?" Louie asked weakly.

"We're going back home." The blue triplet answered. "Come on."

"Wait, wait, wait, Uncle Donald said that you could stay?" Huey asked.

"Um, yeah, I asked him and he said he trusted me."

"O-Oh, alright." Huey answered, looking down at the ground.

"No offense Hue, I promise." Dewey hugged his older brother. "I should go before the yacht starts moving."

"Alright, see ya when we get back." Huey hugged his brothers good bye. "Dewey, be careful with the stove, there's medicine behind the mirrors in the bathrooms and make sure you keep an eye on Lou the whole time. Okay?"

"Yeah, yeah, I know, we'll be okay." Louie was leaning on Dewey, his eyes closed slightly as he coughed. The yacht pulled away from the pier not too long after.

"Can we go home Dewey?" Louie asked trying to walk away. His legs became weak making Dewey catch him.

"Careful Lou-Lou. Save your strength, we have a long walk ahead of us." Louie nodded and leaned on Dewey a bit more. "Woah, you okay?" Dewey held his brother up. Louie shook his head. "Okay, come here." Dewey picked his brother up and carried him.

"Put me, down Dewey." He muttered.

"Be quiet, you know you're too weak to walk right now." Dewey began walking in the direction of the mansion. "You know, you're lighter than you look." Louie simply hummed at his brother's comment. Dewey placed his hand on Louie's forehead again. "We really need to get you home." Another fifteen minutes of walking passed by before Dewey made it back to McDuck manor with his brother. "Can you walk a bit Lou? Just to our room?"

"Mm-mm." Louie hummed, shaking his head. Dewey sighed.

"Okay." He carried his brother up the stairs and into their shared room, placing him down on his bed. Dewey grabbed the blankets and tucked Louie in. "I'll be right back." The middle triplet left the room and into the nearest bathroom. He grabbed a small towel and wet it, making sure the water was not too hot or cold. He took the towel back to Louie and placed it on his forehead. Louie panted heavily, his face a light shade of pink. "You really do have a fever, I think, um....I'll be back." Dewey went back to the bathroom and looked behind the mirror where the medicine cabinet was. He looked for a thermometer and,  hopefully, some cough medicine. After finding only the thermometer, he headed back to his room and to Louie's bedside. "Lou-Lou, you awake?"

"Y-yeah."

"Here." Dewey placed the thermometer in Louie's mouth and waited for the beep. He sighed as he saw the numbers on the small screen. "One 'o two. That's not good. You hungry?" Louie shook his head.

"My stomach hurts, a bit." He answered.

"You should at least drink some water. Wait a bit." Dewey walked out of the room and downstairs to the kitchen. He grabbed two glasses of water, one for him and the other for Louie. Dewey finished his water before reaching the room. "Here you go Louie." Louie sat up slowly and grabbed the glass of water, drinking it slowly.

"I'm tired Dew." Louie whined.

"Okay, okay, lay down and close your eyes. You'll get better soon, I promise." Louie did as told and when he did, he went right to sleep. Later at night, Dewey was woken up by a sudden cough attack. Louie was sitting up in bed and coughing violently. He rushed over to his side and gave him a glass of water he had brought upstairs before going to bed. He gave the water to Louie, who drank it quickly.  Louie covered his mouth as tears came to his eyes and began gagging.

"Lou, what's wrong?" Dewey asked frantically.

"I-I think I'm gonna throw up." Louie got out of bed and tried making his way over to the restroom down the hall, but fell onto the door frame and held onto it for support. His stomach wasn't cooperating with him at the moment and it just decided to release everything it held onto the hallway floor. Dewey stood behind Louie, rubbing his back soothingly.

"Sh, it's okay, you'll be fine." He murmured. Louie coughed and retched onto the floor, and fell back into Dewey's arms afterwards.

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't, make it." He apologized.

"It's fine Lou, come, let's get you back to bed." Dewey lead Louie back to his bed and laid him down. "Just rest, I'll clean up." Louie looked at his brother with tired eyes and nodded.

"Okay."

"Alright then." Dewey placed a tender kiss on Louie's forehead. "Good night Lou." Afterwards, Dewey went into the hallway and downstairs, searching for something to clean up with. The next morning, Louie woke up, feeling a lot better. He got out of bed and found Dewey sleeping in the now clean hallway. The youngest triplet smiled softly, clearing his throat behind his arm, startling his older brother by accident and waking him up. Dewey sat up and looked around, shocked to see Louie out of bed. "Louie? What are you doing out of bed?"

"I feel a lot better than yesterday." He answered in a hoarse voice. He held his throat as he heard how his voice sounded.

"You seem to have a sore throat now." Dewey stood up and yawned. "You should still be in bed."

"What time did you go to sleep last night?"

"Three? Four? Maybe five." Dewey answered. Louie shook his head. "Go back to bed mister." Louie sighed and went back to the room and got into bed. "I'll be right there." Dewey shouted from the hallway. He grabbed the cleaning equipment and stored it away before heading to the kitchen. "It's already noon, might as well try to make something warm for Louie to eat."

A while went by and Dewey was still not back. Louie was sitting up in his bed, waiting for his brother to return. He heard walking in the hallway and jumped slightly when the door opened. Dewey walked in holding a tray with a bowl and cup.

"What's that?" Louie asked, his voice still hoarse.

"I, made you some soup and brought you some water." Dewey stated.

"O-Oh, um, thanks Dewey." The middle triplet walked towards his brother and set the tray down in Louie's lap. He sat down in front of him and got some of the soup on the spoon.

"Here." Dewey put the spoon near Louie's mouth.

"I-I can feed myself Dewey." Louie blushed lightly at his brother's kind gesture.

"Come on Lou, just try some."

"How do I know it won't give me food poisoning?"

"Please!" Louie sighed and looked at his brother's hands. They were bandaged up and slightly red and cut.

"Fine." He ate the soup on the spoon, his eyes sparkled at the taste. "Wow, this tastes really good Dew."

"Thanks." Dewey fed Louie another spoonful of soup. "I tried really hard."

"I can tell." Louie placed his hand on Dewey's, talking about his bandages and cuts.

"Oh, um, heh, yeah. I-I had a bit of trouble in the kitchen, I kind of burned my hands and, may or may not have cut my fingers a bit too." Dewey laughed nervously before feeding Louie another spoonful of soup. Louie smiled at the flavors and continued letting Dewey feed him. "There, all done." Dewey smiled at his brother. He handed him a glass of water. Louie drank a bit of water and looked at Dewey.
"Thank you for taking care of me." Dewey stared at his little brother in shock. He'd never heard Louie say thank you in such a long time.
"N-no problem Lou-Lou." Dewey stated, still a bit shocked. "I am you're older brother, so, I-I should always be taking care of you."

"No, seriously, thank you. I've never seen this side of you before. I would usually expect this from Huey, but, it's nice to know that both of my brothers can take care of me when I'm sick and take care of themselves." Dewey hugged his baby brother suddenly. "D-Dewey?"

"You don't need to thank me Lou-Lou. I already told you, I'm your big brother. It's my job." Louie hugged Dewey back.

"You're a good big brother Dewey." Dewey smiled, tears of joy in his eyes. "I love you."

"Thanks Lou-Lou......I love you too."
