Chapter 39. Cute Thorns?

"Get back here, beautiful!" The vibrant-haired lady cooed over for Wendy. Wendy was running for her life, she was told never to get into fights, but, was stilled trained to She never got into a fight before, though.

The fights were planned so she could win, she wasn't at the same level as her two older brothers, they were on a whole other level.

Wendy was panting before it was even a minute. Her mum wouldn't let Wendy go out running with her brothers to get fit, just made her study for being a Queen.

It was all about her brothers.

Nothing was ever about Wendy in the castle.

Her mum loved her daughter but hardly looked at her. They, Gandina and Igneel, were too busy looking after Wendy's future Kingdom.

The reason why her Grandad was here to watch over the family and not her family.

"Stop calling me that!" Wendy yelled in a panic. She didn't sound very confident or like she was standing up.

She accidently let out a gush of harsh wind go and hit Cosmos. The wind covered the whole area, she couldn't avoid it.

It was one of the major spells she used but coudn't quite use properly.

"But, your magic is quite beautiful? This is really cute, a Wind Magic user!" The woman laughed.

Wendy was relieved to know that she didn't know what magic she had. That meant that the others didn't know either.

"But, not as cute as mine!" She smirked. Wendy didn't see what happened but at the end of the fiasco, she could see a thorny vine inbetween separated boldours.

"I don't remember thorns being cute,"

"Wendy! Zeref and I are heading to the village. May you come with us?" Natsu asked in a polite manner. It was hard to believe Natsu was actually serious in a long period of time in his life.

"Of course," Wendy laughed as she put down her book on the coffee table and ran to her brothers.

"You mean, 'I may'," Natsu laughed.

"What an amazing little brother you are, Natsu," Zeref let out a small chuckle. Natsu laughed along with him. It was those days when they were amazingly in tune, not hating each other. But, this was their last day enjoying that laughter.

"Are we going?" Wendy asked. The had stopped in the middle of the hall way. Natsu and Zeref stopped laughing and looked at each other.

They bust into laughter once again.

"We made it!" Wendy said as she breathed in the cool air. Something about the village air seemed to calm her down. Gray was with them, and showing her his magic once again.

The vine was smooth with flower buds all over.

It was beautiful.

"We did, but, hold my hand, we don't want you getting lost," Zeref reminded her. Wendy rolled her eyes and held her big brother's hand.

"Brother, I think Wendy's old enough to stop holding your hand, she's my age when I stopped holding your's," Natsu laughed. Zeref stopped to look at him.

"Natsu, you knew that was because--"

"Wendy! Where did she go!" Gray panicked. Zeref quickly turned around and saw that Wendy had disappeared.

"You let go of her hand!" That was the first time he ever raised his voice at his brother. The village was too busy to even notice they were yelling.

"It was in the heat of the moment!" Zeref panicked. He looked down at his peasant clothes in shame.

"This is no place for a girl like you, you should go," A blue haired boy muttered as Wendy stopped to look at him. He had a tattoo on his face and had an archery bow on his back. He had another, meaning he had a friend he was waiting for.

"What do you mean I should leave!" Wendy demanded. In the castle, she was never told not to go places. Why was it any different here?

"The Princess shouldn't be in the filthy bit of town. I don't understand how you and your brothers got out, even with Fullbuster," The boy muttered.

He was somewhere around the age of Natsu and was laughing.

"H-how do y-you know w-who I-I am?" Wendy stuttered.

"If I'm lucky, my good friend and I might be able to be let into the castle as a Knight. If I'm lucky to see you again, I hope we remember each other," The boy muttered. He came to a realisation. "My name is Mystogan,"

He didn't sound very sure and was probably lying. "You're lying about her name, but, I tust you! Can you find my way back to my brothers and Gray?" Wendy asked Mystogan.

"Why sure," He laughed. He carried both sets of arrows and bows and led her.

"Wendy, these are your body guards! Jellal Fernandez and Erza Scarlett," Zeref said. He shut the door before leaving.

The blue and and tattoo was all familiar to you but she couldn't remember who he was. She was only 10.

"Mystogan, can you get me that book, please?" Wendy asked the Jellal. Erza scowled at Jellal knowingly and Jellal laughed as he threw her the book.

"My name is Jellal, why did you call me 'Mystogan'?" He asked innocently.

"Sorry!" Wendy said all flustered, "Yo ujust remind me of someone who...who...never mind!" Wendy let out a laugh.

She wasn't quite sure herself why she said it or who the name belonged to.

But, she does now. She couldn't believe one of the closest people to her actually lied to her. She had used a spell that depleated oxygen from the body enough to make the person faint.

"I don't remember thorns being cute,"
