Chapter 13: A "Small" Price To Pay

"Are you in love with me?" (Y/n) asked.

"You want me to be honest, right?" I started. She nodded and I sighed, "I don't know, and before you tell me that's not an answer, I don't actually know what love is. I guess based on the way Ghost thinks about you. Speaking of which, remind me to tell you about his dream the other day, it was hilarious! He was all nervous about your date, and kept thinking about what could go wrong!" I laughed. Ghost started blushing and face-palming while (Y/n) giggled.

"Hey! Newbies!" A voice called. We all looked to where the voice was coming from and saw a girl with long thick black hair, dead grey eyes, one of which was hanging out of her eye socket, and pale skin. Her right arm was only bones. She wore jeans that were ripped at the end, revealing she did not have any flesh remaining on her left leg like her right arm, at least at the bottom, red and black muddy sneakers, and red flannel over a black t-shirt.

"I'm Stacy Bones, welcome to the afterlife! All of you are designated for Hell, especially you two," Stacy said as she pointed at me and Ghost.

"Why (Y/n)!?" Ghost exclaimed. Stacy snapped, and made a clipboard appear in her hand. She read the clipboard with the eye hanging out of its socket, and glared at us with the other.

"Well, Gregory Casket, (Y/n) was the criminal mastermind behind the Macaroni Crisis of 2002 at age 12, and that alone is a whole whopping five pages of offences! After that there isn't much, but she really screwed herself over with that one!" Stacy said as she threw the clipboard at me. I didn't react fast enough and it hit me in the face.

"Ow," I mumbled with a giggle.

"I uh, don't like being called Gregory," Ghost said sheepishly.

"I don't like being called freakshow up top, but I don't complain," Stacy replied.

"So, you caused the Macaroni Crisis of 2002, huh?" I asked with a laugh. (Y/n) buried her face in her hands and nodded in embarrassment.

"Didn't about 80 people get killed over that?" Ghost asked. Stacy nodded.

"Sure did! All of them came here, or were exterminated because they refused to let go of something from the other realm."

"What else you got hidden up your sleeve, huh killer?" I laughed as I nudged (Y/n)'s arm. (Y/n) ignored me.

"Stacy!" Someone called. We looked over and saw a skeleton wearing jeans, a white t-shirt, and muddy white sneakers running up to Stacy.

"What's up Jake?" Stacy asked.

"These guys are bad news," Jake started, "Enough to get Mr. Hothead's attention."

"What does he want with them?" Stacy asked, "They're scumbags, just like everyone else in Hell."

"Hey!" Ghost exclaimed, "At least we tried to do better!"

Stacy glared and was about to say something when Jake cut her off.

"Stacy, no time to get petty let's get them to Mr. Hotheaded, and get out of here. I think that Acachalla guy needs tied to the ceiling again," Jake snickered.

"Fine," Stacy sighed, "But this time we're using chocolate cake. I want the Oreos."

"Deal!" Jake said as they shook hands, ripping each other's arm off. I held back my laughter as they lead the way, holding their arms.

"I guess they could really lend a hand!" I giggled to myself.

"Burn," Stacy said as she shut the door to "Mr. Hothead's" office.

"Hello everyone," He started, "You may know me by many names, The Devil, Satan, Lucifer, Hollywood, and considering you've met Stacy, "Mr. Hothead". Call me whatever you want, but I'd like you to listen to my offer."

"I'm listening!" I said excitedly.

"Um, I guess I'll listen," (Y/n) replied.

"Just, go on, I'll tell you if I heard anything you said later," Ghost said.

{Before we go on, I want you to know, this isn't how Hell and the Afterlife actually works. No one truly knows, and we won't know until we're there. Don't take any of this seriously, because it's complete bull. The Devil wouldn't actually make this deal with you; he would take your soul straight to Hell to burn eternally. Don't try to make deals with the Devil, because you always loose.}

"Since you all have in some way brought more souls here, I will revive your bodies," Hothead started, "But, because Mr. Casket's body has been in decay for quite some time he will still have to inhabit someone else's body until it's found, and restored. It may take a little more time than the usual two weeks because you died when you were a child, but when it's restored it will be in your adult form."

"What's the catch?" (Y/n) asked.

"The catch is you each have to continue sending souls down until Mr. Casket's body is fully restored." Ghost's eyes widened.

"I'm a ghost hunter! Not a murderer!" Ghost exclaimed.

"And yet you've killed at least thirty people all on your own," Hothead replied. I laughed.

"T-They all had it coming to them!" Ghost argued.

"Then find more with it coming to them," Hothead answered. I held back more laughter.

"Look, I just want to go home," (Y/n) started. Hothead nodded.

"Then it's settled. At the very least, ten people a week, any less, and I'll drag you back down permanently, Deal?" He asked.

"Speaking for everyone," I started, "deal!" I exclaimed.

With that, we were off.

"Damn," I mumbled to myself while examining the two bodies that lay in front of me. Johnny Ghost, and (F/n) (L/n).

I was careful when removing the knife from Ghost's torso, and examined the blade. It had both new and old bloodstains on it. Recognizing its shape from sketches of what we thought Jimmy Casket's knife was like, I compared it and it was almost an exact match. My blood went cold as I started at Ghost, his lifeless bloodstained face still smiling like he had lost his mind, almost as if he was taunting me for not figuring it out sooner.

"Maloney!" I called. Maloney ran over after talking to some neighbors that were concerned. He shooed them off before coming over.

"Yes Detective Robinson?" He asked.

"Change the deceased names being sent to the station," I said as I put the Godforsaken knife in an evidence bag. To think he was right under our nose the entire time.

"Why? Is it aliens?" Maloney questioned.

"What?" I asked looking at him confused.

"I knew it!" He exclaimed.

"Maloney, it's not aliens!" I yelled annoyed.

"Oh," He mumbled softly.

"Change the name from Johnny Ghost, to Jimmy Casket," I told him. Maloney's eyes widened.

"No way," He started, "It can't be! I've know the man since he was a kid!" I sighed.

"Look at his face," I told him, "Does that look like the kid you knew? I have a feeling the real Johnny Ghost has been dead for a long time, and Jimmy here was pretending to be him while Johnny's corpse has been rotting God knows where." Suddenly, (Y/n) shot up, taking in deep wheezy breaths. Maloney jumped back in terror.

"OH MY GOD!" Maloney exclaimed, "THE ZOMBIE APPOCOLYPSE IS STARTING!" He drew his weapon and shot at (Y/n), drenching her with water.

"MALONEY!" I exclaimed. He stopped shooting and put his gun down. I helped her up, and patted her back as she coughed.

"What happened? Are you okay?" I asked. She held her chest where she had been stabbed, and cried out in pain.

"MEDIC!" I called. One of the paramedics from the ambulance sent to pick up the dead bodies came over and examined her. Jimmy shot up from his spot, and started coughing as well. The wicked smile he had on his face quickly turned into a less crazed expression. In fact, it was a more innocent looking one. I knew the truth about him however, and I would not be fooled.

"Oh God," He exclaimed, "No one said how bad this would hurt!" He lay back down and held his chest. I took this as an opportunity and put handcuffs on him.

"What are you doing!?" He screeched.

"Jimmy Casket, you are under arrest," I stated proudly.

"What?" He exclaimed, "No! You got it all wrong! I'm not him! My name is-" I cut him off.

"Jimmy Casket, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can and will be used against you in a court of law," I continued reading him his rights as I dragged him outside.

"Actually detective," (Y/n) started from behind the paramedic. I watched in horror as he fell to the ground, stab wounds in his chest. I checked my pocket where I had put the knife, and it was gone. I saw it at her side, dripping blood. She smiled insanely, as she lifted the metal blade to her mouth and licked it tauntingly.

"That would be me," She burst into maniacal laughter as she slashed at Maloney. He dodged, but turned into a bird and flew away, leaving me, and Ghost watching in horror. A couple other officers drew weapons and aimed she flicked her wrist and their weapons flew out of their hands. One tried running, but she threw her knife in the back of his head, killing him instantly. The two others tried running up towards her to hopefully pin her down, but she lifted her hand and froze them where they stood.

"Detective!" Ghost exclaimed.

"How?" I mumbled distantly, watching her slowly rip them apart. They screamed as their limbs were ripped from their bodies, (Y/n) laughing at their pain.

"Detective!" Ghost repeated, "Take these cuffs off me! I can help!" I didn't know what to do. I failed... I continued to watch in horror as (Y/n) ripped the head off of one officer, and watched the other bleed out. I unlocked the cuffs I had put on Ghost, and drew my weapon. (Y/n) twitched as she approached, her knife flying into her hand.

"Run," I told him.

"But-"

"I SAID RUN!" I exclaimed. He ran off, hopefully to a safe place.

"Hey there~!" (Y/n) started, twirling her knife in her hands.

"Why, (Y/n)?" I asked, keeping my gun aimed at her.

"I'm not (Y/n)!" She barked, "I'm Jimmy Casket!"

"Then how?" I started, "I don't understand how you are the world's most dangerous killer, when you didn't even live in the same state the murders started." She thought for a second before replying.

"Tell you what," She started, "I'll tell you my secret, but you can't run if I tell you." I sighed and lowered my gun.

"I don't really have a choice, do I?" I asked. She shook her head and giggled.

"Nope," She said, coming closer. The last thing I heard was her secret.

{*Pant, pant* WOW, that took forever to get out. I hope it makes up for the depression I gave everyone! Heh... *Dodges throwing star* WHERE DID YOU GET THAT!?}
