Aini
"Let's get out of here," Harry announced urgently.
Hey, but life wasn't that easy, it was sunset when we stepped out of the mansion, the voices of the witch spirit's hollowed out in the air, "we fulfilled our promise, we no longer owe you anything."
I heard Zara mutter, "how kind of them," I was baffled about how to get out of here but I was also happy to finally be with my family.
These crazy people risked their lives to save mine, I was never too proud to call them my family at this moment, how could I ever thank them? They saved my life and it was time I return the favor. Although I was happy to be with them, my heart skipped a painful beat for Avyanna, Zara and mom were pretty sad as well, I wonder if they knew what ensued, even though they might have known, it wouldn't be like I was shown.
"We should go back before midnight," mom warned, stepping out of this mansion will ensure our lives are in danger but we were not given any other option, Zara was however excited about the adventure.
"Let's go," she announced cheerfully, I felt the warmth of Harry next to me, he took my hand in a grasp, a silent promise of never letting go.
I smiled at him, truly I am blessed.
The mansion started to change into the ghost house I'm familiar with, with bloodstained walls and ruined ceilings, the chandeliers were broken in pieces, shards of glasses lay everywhere, the furniture was back to its originality as well. It was a clear indication that the sun has set and it is dangerous for us to step outside but we couldn't reside here forever.
We gathered some courage and together we stepped out of the ruined mansion.
I stared dumbstruck at the fields for the first time in my real life, Avyanna's favorite sunflower region was destroyed, dead, decayed. The dead vines ran wild across the field, the region where there was once life now was the burial ground for many innocent lives, trees, and animals. It was melancholic to feel the death around me, the river was dry, no trace of the fresh mist water that soaked my legs.
The clouds were red and grey, angry at the intruders, as in us. The witch spirits ditched us, so much for being sisters. We are in this on our own. I could feel the stir of the spirit around us, mom and Zara were equally disturbed, Harry however remained conventional.
"The spirits, they want revenge," I announced to them, I could feel the pain, their moans echoed in my ears, it was too loud that I couldn't hear what Zara was uttering.
I clasped my ears shut to the noise, their vengeful screams ached my heart but the fear was constant. They wanted to avenge their deaths. Mothers who suffered the deaths of their beloved children, fathers who grieved for their wife, lovers for their never happening happily ever after, children for their stolen childhood, many and more.
All of them were standing, some of them were in full form while the others were half-decayed, their features gruesome, and scary.
"It indeed was a zombie land," Zara uttered in awe and Harry grumbled.
Some inside joke, I need to ask them when we were out of here. They came running at us, some carrying branches like swords, mom and Zara were prepared, they sent lightning-like white gleam at them, eliminating them instantly from sight.
They were prepared indeed, Harry ran inside the mansion, when he returned, he was holding a large piece of furniture, he used that to hit the spirits but the object passed them like light, they were spirits after all and Harry was only human, I secured the knife, it was longer than a regular but a little smaller than a sword, an ancient sword perhaps, tightly.
When one of the vengeful spirits ran towards me, blood spluttering through his mouth, I stabbed in instinct, he fell to the ground and vanished out of sight.
The sword was the key, Avyanna knew of this, I heard the small voice of Avyanna, "yesterday was mine, I won. Today is yours, you win."
I felt a ray of hope splurge through me, I gave the sword to Harry, he was badly hurt on his knees by the spirits and he needs more protection than we do.
Harry used the sword skillfully, he dodged and turned at the right time but I was unguarded and women bearing a branch neared me with a vicious smile, I heard Halina speak again, "use your powers sister," I however didn't know how to.
She hit on my head, their objects damaged us, and it hurt in real. I tried to dodge her attempts, "use your powers sister, it is not your time to die," I heard Halina guide again.
"Stop telling me my time for death!" I yelled in frustration.
From my peripheral vision, I could see my mom succumb to the spirits, her nose bleeding from the power she was using, Zara came for her aid, she sent dark black hoggish power towards the spirit, a little similar to the power the spirits used against us, but Zara was powerful.
She smiled maliciously at them, staring at her as that terrified me, she was using dark magic, and it wasn't good for her, I saw what dark magic did to Avyanna, she killed many of her rapists but in her case she was right but Zara, the thought didn't settle well.
I tried to fight the spirits, often I threw punches at them and they landed at the directed places unlike Harry's. I realized witches and ghosts could touch them but not the humans, Harry, however, was dealing fine with the sword in his hands.
I kicked, slapped, and punched many spirits aimlessly, I got hurt in the process, my body bleeding in many places but my instincts were only focused on the matter at hand.
All was going well until I heard my mom scream, I turned towards them quickly, my mother was on the ground, a spirit of a huge man tramping her stomach, Zara was being strangled by a group of men and Harry was busy fighting with a large group.
I felt the anger surging through me when I listened to the painful sobs of my mother, I couldn't save Avyanna but I will save them, with a silent promise, I tried to think of a plan. If Halina was right about me being the curse breaker, it also ensures that I am the powerful of them all, powerful than Avyanna, the third born.
If her little description of me was right, then I could raise the dead. I scanned the area through my pain, death everywhere but the only spirits that came back were the vindictive ones, the virtuous and the ignorant remained dead, they were my only options. I tried to wield my powers, I raised many of the dead from the land, spirits that wanted the welfare of the town, I asked them to raise and save us.
To my surprise, I saw there were many of us, good spirits fighting with the vengeful ones, but what I didn't expect was the witch spirits among them, not the six cursed girls but the ones that sacrificed themselves for the wellbeing of the innocent civilians.
They fought valiantly, It was easy to recognize the witches, the connection they shared was strong, the bond circulated in my blood and it was susceptible to say who was one of my sisters. Mom felt the same, she smiled at me appreciatively and I smiled back.
It was time I fought!
I funneled my powers at the vengeful spirits, felt the electricity tickle in my veins, I felt vital, I am powerful. I sent beams of my power towards the group, many scattered in pain, falling everywhere on the ground, some dissipated on my watch, it was additive, the taste of death bought a satisfying zest on my tongue.
There was no one left, one spirit however remained stubborn with a wooden sword, points sharp as steel. I walked towards him, he was a build man, six feet and bulky but my anger was stronger than his muscles, I sent a hot splurge of electricity to his body, his screams appeased my rage, rage of my families pain, of Avyanna's death, I felt better.
Strong hands engulfed me in a hug and I was alarmed, but the familiarity of the touch curbed my outrageous move, "he's dead Aini, stop," I heard Harry whisper slowly, his voice was fearful.
Fearful of me, I instantly dropped my hands down. Slaughter indeed was addictive, I wondered how did Avyanna stop.
Addictive, I didn't want to be that person, the thought was terrifying, Harry understood my thought process for he hugged me tight, "it's okay, your safe."
Did I wonder for how long, destiny was it?
