Aini

For the first time since I was shown the life of my evildoer, her life was miserable, full of crappy people and monsters but this shift of scene made me happy. I was seated on a rock on a river, the freshwater hit my legs soothingly, I was shocked that I could feel the water, it felt refreshing.

Avyanna was on the sands, with her seven months baby bump, practicing her magic. She was sure that she could ask the plants and trees to do her bidding, one night, which I'm not sure of, she spoke to a tree give her an apple, which gave what she wanted after she said it for the third time.

Today she was trying to manipulate the water, she was unsuccessful on her first try, she was frustrated, her mood swings took a toll on her but when she sat on the ground, tired and sad the water sizzled on her. Avyanna was instantly happy, she wondered aloud, ‘the powers work on my emotions, marvelous!’

Her happiness was contagious, for when she smiled, I smiled with her. It was a lesson for me as well since the time I'm showed her life, I am an invisible air for the surroundings, I couldn't touch or feel a thing but when I was in the sunflower region or the river, I could feel the mud, sit on the ground and get wet from the water.

When Avyanna realized her powers, I understood my powers furthermore, her powers were similar to mine, she could manipulate resources so can I, I could foresee but Avyanna couldn't.

The fact that I'm a witch still sent goosebumps on my body. I heard Avyanna chuckle in excitement, it was like all her bad days disappeared and I felt happy for her. She was finally living her life after the death of her scoundrel husband. She made the best lady of the house, she treated her maids like friends.

Her first step was to send away all the whores among the maids, she hired many poor young girls, often helped them in their chores, made farming in her fields, planted varieties of vegetation, and sold them to the villagers, the proportional of the vegetation were disturbed among the maids.

Avyanna treated all of her maids like a family, she was the mother holding all the ropes without letting them fall apart, I knew she would make a great mother to her daughter.

Her powers were her happiness, next to her daughter. When heard the giggle of a woman and we knew we had company. It wasn't the maids like Avyanna feared, she kept her powers secret, it was Halina.

Avyanna was delighted but I wasn't, there was something on Halina's features that screams trouble when my mind traveled afar from all the trials she could have come to bestowed, Halina smiled in my direction.

Alright, she can read my thoughts, very comforting!

"Halina, look at my powers," Avyanna informed with enthusiasm. She lifted her hand at the river, it splashed a handful of water on Halina and Avyanna giggled like a high schooler.

"It's good to see you discovering your powers sister," Halina spoke sweetly.

"Can I know how I'm a witch?" Avyanna asked the most important question.

"Our ancestors were witches," Halina answered like it was egregious by birth.

"Oh, but my mother wasn't."

"That was because she wasn't your mother by birth," Halina resolved simply.

Ooooh, so Avyanna was adopted? Hmm, that's some family rivalry, interesting!

What? I couldn't understand why I'm thinking like Zara, her family matters were her private business, its not nice to peep our nose inside.

"What do you mean?" She asked distressed by the revelation.

"Your mother was a witch, so is your daughter, she separated from your father when you were two, the lady you live with was your stepmother."

Omg, that was depressing. To know that your parents were separated was one thing but living a life not knowing about your real mother at all was a sin. I couldn't imagine the pain but to my surprise, she was a little shocked but not unhappy.

"Was that the reason why she sold me for my husband for enlarging our family trade?" Avyanna asked in awe, well that explains her childhood.

"Where is my mother?" She asked Halina.

"Dead, a couple of years back," Halina declared and Avyanna cried.

"Did she not love me, why didn't she come to meet me at all?" Avyanna sobbed.

"Avyanna, our lives were destined before we were born, so was your daughters," Halina

"I'm sorry, dear Halina but I don't understand," Avyanna inquired and listened keenly for what she was about to say.

Something tells me there was life at stake, whatever she was going to tell, it was going to change my life like Avyanna's.

"Our ancestors were witches for more than a thousand years but our lives were jeopardized when our sisters fought amongst themselves. They sacrificed their lives to save the innocent," She started and explained how the witches planned a massacre.

It was pitiful and deceitful and how the lineage was cursed. Valerie was right and wrong, her emotions stroked her to do what she did but it
was wrong to curse so many innocent lives as well, in my opinion.

"So I'm one of them?" Avyanna raised a question.

"Yes, you're third! And so was your daughter," she acknowledged.

"No, not my daughter."

"I'm sorry sister, it was destined," she replied sadly.

"Please don't hurt my daughter," she sobbed miserably.

Her pain was really hard to see, but there were things I understood from the story that Halina said, so we were witches but cursed, Halina was the first among the cursed witches and there will be a seventh born girl who would end it all, break the curse and die. Until that day we will be suffering in every step of our lives.

There was an important question circulating inside my head, from the story Halina said, so was my mom a witch as well, or am I adopted like Avyanna.

Everything she said was clear but what baffled me was, where did I fit in? So I am a witch, alright but why am I shown the life of another witch.

"There is a way," I heard Halina confide to Avyanna and I alerted my ears.

"Anything for my daughter," Avyanna confirmed without wasting a second.

"When the curse was endorsed, Valerie died but her spirit promised us salvation."

"What is it, lady, please save my daughter," Avyanna asked eagerly, ready to save her daughter by any means.

"Sister, please address me as your sister," Avyanna nodded quickly and waited for Halina to speak.

"Every witch has to suffer, a proportional amount of torture and trial but the pain was intensified to the third and the seventh born for they change the history of the cursed girls, you suffered sister, none of us can help it, we were not given the power to change anything. Except you."

"What should I do sister, I'd do anything for my daughter," Avyanna inserted without a second thought.

Mothers, the greatest blessing! I was proud of her.

"Your soul was the purest of us all, trade your soul sister, it will lessen the power of the curse for the other witches, and your daughter," she answered nonchalantly.

She was asking too much from Avyanna, "I want to live with my daughter," I heard Avyanna mumble pitifully.

I sympathized with her.

From the looks of Halina, we could tell it was impossible, it was Avyanna's trial.

"You will be given a chance to live, a normal life," Halina convinced.

"How?"

"The seventh born's soul has to die but she will be the most powerful, she could ask nature to do what she wants, tell the future of a person, manipulate minds, raise dead and most importantly break the curse but she was bestowed great pain, more than you. We allow you to switch lives with her, you will be given a second chance to be human.

You will not die Avyanna, your soul will be taken to be restored later and you have a chance to save the life of your daughter," Halina asserted her plan.

So that's where I fit in, I'm the seventh born, everything fit well, it should be me. I raised Zara's spirit, my foreseeing, everything fits perfectly. I'm the curse breaker, the chosen soul to, die!

All my life I've dreamt of many things, a happy family and a loving guy but it will only be a dream, so was Avyanna's.

We were destined to die before we were born.
