Zara
Two days passed in blandness, On Tuesday we drove to Aini's place, Leila left home informing us that she has some important works to do, she had the perfect cover story for Anne, however the last time we spoke to her on the phone, she informed that Anne suspects something. So on Tuesday we cleaned Aini's place, she will be back on Friday and only if she notices the disaster which is her home, she would be fuming and will try to clean the place urgently as if guests would be arriving that very moment.
We stayed the night there and returned to the hotel on Thursday morning, the waiter placed harry's cheeseburger in front of him, and he thanked him, I felt hungry staring at him eat, I heard him say with a full mouth.
"What, you want some." my only reply was a hard-on glare, he chuckled happily and took another big bite from his burger, "stop baiting on me, you idiot!" I snapped at him, but he kept repeating the action ignoring my glares. We turned amusing attention from the passerby's and customers, some offered worried glances at harry, so he plugged his I-pods to his ears, that was so much easier, now many concluded that he was speaking over the phone than to his best friend's ghost.
Suddenly he chuckled, "Ze, guess your mafia boyfriend found a new girl to love."
Is he talking about the guy A dreamt of, my supposed lover?
"You met him?" I asked curiously.
"Bumped on him last Sunday at the store while buying candles."
"And you know-how about his new love interest?" I raised my eyebrows in question.
He swallowed his bite and hummed in emphasis, I rolled my eyes. I knew he won't stop irritating me until the burger settles in his tummy. After the smack of his lips, he decided its time he spoke, "he was following her."
The thought was unsettling, he wasn't the nice guy, I can tell. "What happened?"
"He was following her, and then I noticed I was late so, I came back."
Guess I'm reading too much into the subject but I had my reasons, one could never tell with those bastards, their crimes were huge, anyone could be their next victim. I worried for the woman, whoever she is, I hope she's fine.
"Did the women have company?" I asked cautiously, I wanted to let go of the topic but the nagging feeling of bad sat on the pit of my heart, pawing against my system uncomfortably.
"She's a teenager, she had a friend who was yelling at her name loudly, so loud that the whole store turned heads," he laughed in remembrance, "teenagers are crazy."
That was a relief, she had someone around her, and then the question struck me, "what's her name?"
"It's Linda."
Oh, that was a relief or not, but why do I still feel bad? I heard Harry correct, "it's Leena, yeah it's Leena, I'm sorry I forgot."
"No, no, no," I mumbled, and Harry questioned about it.
"This isn't good Harry, they are planning to kill her."
"How do you know, listen Ze we cant blame someone blindly," he scolded.
"You don't know what I know Harry," I started narrating to him about the driver and the details I collected from his laptop, Harry confirmed that Leena indeed was a high school girl. He processed the information silently for a while, and after a few minutes, he spoke.
"Are you sure it's her?" he assessed, I nodded at him blindly and went back to thinking, after a while he suggested.
"Zara, we could hire someone to follow, I mean guard her for a few days."
"Won't she be scared? She's a teenager Harry," I shrieked, his suggestion was not that bad, it would work and it makes things so much easier.
Perks of having wealthy best friends.
"Only for a few days, discreetly. Until we get back Aini, we have a huge task at hand Ze, remember?"
"You're right," I mumbled, our priority, for now, was A, Leena will have to do with the bodyguards.
"Leila texted to meet her at Avyanna's place," he informed while looking at his phone.
"Urgh I hate the witch!" whining was one of my best resorts when it comes to the witch, I just really hate her.
"You hate everyone Ze," he dared to chuckle carelessly.
"I'm telling you, Harry, she's planning big."
He sighed, "Ze, maybe she just wants to help this time, she might have realized her mistakes. Stop overthinking it, come on let's go."
Little did they know, people don't really change.
*************
Leila was seated on the couch at the wicked witch's place when we entered but the villain was out of sight, leila knew what I was thinking for she pointed upstairs, well that's where she was.
"Think of the witch and she shall appear," Harry whispered in my ears, and there she comes.
I scrutinized her from the top to bottom, she sported a lavender midi-frock that reached just below her knees with lace on the top, and a beaded circular neckline finished it off with a silver wristwatch and a teardrop earring. She smiled at me when she noticed I was looking at her dress, I rolled my eyes in response.
"We aren't going on a vacation witch," I called off her proud smirk, a hoodie and denim would have saved time, seriously though, we aren't going for a picnic, what was she thinking?
Harry was quick to subtle my snarky replies, he questioned, "Where is this town?"
"Destroyed," the witch replied monotonously.
I smirked at Harry, he deserved her bitchiness a bit.
"Where is it?" He repeated a little harshly this time, I waited for another sassy reply but Leila interrupted the fun.
"The town was lost, we have to cast a spell or something to enter."
"Then how do we know where it is?" I implored.
"Avyanna will take us," Leila concluded.
"We are taking my car," the wicked witch inserted, smiling cheerfully.
"Tell me where I should be, I'll teleport myself," I put in but I know it won't happen, and Harry added in certitude.
"You're coming with us.”
Such joy! Err.
