Prologue

Dublin, Ireland

The wind billowed around the deserted port. The sky was dark and no stars were present to light the windy night. Heavy ships stood around, having been unloaded and waiting for the morning when they could be loaded again and sent off to different corners of the world, bringing tees and sugars from exotic places.

Whenever a ship, carrying either rare and unique wares or arriving from a far off land, came in, all types of people would come to see the unloading. Common folk in dull brown frocks standing behind the fence, hoping to get a glance at the finery they would never be able to afford, and finely dressed aristocratic ladies and gentlemen idly standing around, waiting for a chance to buy the exotic wares.

However this night there were no crowds of people hoping to see the unloading of unique wares, no ship hands carrying boxes of the ship. And the lady present, wasn't waiting to buy fine, satin.

She stood calmly in the harbor, a shiny metal gun in her hand. Her blond hair, like woven gold, fluttered slightly in the breeze and her metallic weapon shined in the dark night, as she pointed it at a lone figure kneeling on the rough stone ground.Next to her stood an equally finely dressed gentleman, who didn't look even slightly fazed at the sight of a fine, british lady about to commit murder.

The night was silent, the blue waves crashed quietly against the stone walls of the port and sea gulags crowed in the distance. The music of a sailor filled tavern floated through the night.

The silence was only interrupted by the begging and pleading of the kneeling figure. "Please, I'm begging ya! Don't shoot me!" He pleaded, "I promise, I'll tell you anythin' ya want. Just dont't shoot me!" he finished.

"And what of your knowledge, do you believe, would be so beneficial to us, that we would spare you?", the lady questioned him with a tilt of her head. A mocking smile was present on her face, the man did not stand a chance.

"The Barron of Cromwell! He payed me to do his bidding. He only wanted to get rid of teh Duke of Galchester because of the coal mines!"

"Oh sir! You don't actually believe that that is enough information for us to spare a criminal, an assasin at that!" She said, smirking slightly.

"But yer just the same as me, lady!", he sputtered, unable to believe what was happening to him.

"Oh sir, we are nothing alike." she replied to him.

"We are both assassins!" he shouted.

"Oh no sir. You are a lowlife, an assasin. I, however am so much more than that." she explained. "You sell yourself out to the highest bidder to do their dirty work, no matter who it is for.

You do not care the slightest if the person who's life you are taking is innocent or not! I on the other hand, am a lady. I work for one person and one person only.

I find men, who have the need to rent the likes of you, and I well, I put an end to their power. Wether that is with injury and death or other less violent means. l am, you could say, both investigator and enforcer."

"What kind of lady are ya? I don't expect all of London's fine ladies to act like ya!"

"Well sir, I contrary to most other young ladies, feel that not all of my abilities are used to navigate the London Society. I need some other form of amusement, you could say." She said, letting out a charming little laugh. "I don't exactly fit into the stereotype, don't you agree?" the man nodded slowly.

"You could say that I have learned to adapt." With that said, she released the safety on her gun and asked the man, "Any last secrets to confess sir? I am afraid your time on this earth has ended."

The man, overcome with fear, couldn't control his sobs as he pleaded for mercy.

"Why should I grant you mercy? You did after all kill countless people, children, simply to let your benefactor have an easier path to more power."

When the man could not awnser she simply frowned and said, "Not even an excuse for the sorrow you have caused." She slowly shook her head and pressed the trigger, ending the man's life once and for all.

"Alexandria", the lean looking gentlemen said, causing the lady to turn around. "Why must you always drag the whole thing out like that?"

"Oh Joseph, the anticipation makes it all so much fun!" she answered with a dainty laugh. "Now come on, throw him in the harbor and move along, Father is waiting for us."

With that having been said, she turned, her dark blue cape swirling around her, and walked of into the dark night.
