In a suburban home, a young boy swiftly entered with a bag in his hand and ran to his room. His parents entered, and both had a smile on their faces, the father was holding a report card, which had straight A+s on it. "Don't forget that we still have to visit your Aunt in a few hours!" The mother announced.

"Got it!" The young boy shouted back as he opened his bedroom door. The room was complete, except for a TV that had a game console's home menu open, it was a console called the X Station Five Zero from the words on the side. The screen had several games in a file named, "Downloaded".

He then spoke to himself, "Finally! The long-awaited remaster of Blood Born Hunters on X Station Five Zero!". The young boy then took out the disk in the console, which was for Wolf; Double Death In Darkness, and the disk in the game case, then placed the disk for Blood Born Hunters into the console. Also, putting the disk for Wolf; Double Death In Darkness back into its case.

The game began downloading as well as checking for updates and after about thirty minutes, the game was downloaded and was up to date. Then the young man started the game and the title screen of the game appeared.

Around four hours later, the young man was still playing, staring at the screen with undivided focus. The character had long shaggy white hair, red eyes, pale skin, and a lean build. He wore a leather button coat with two leather sashes that formed an X on the chest, a leather captain hat, leather pants that were studded on the sides, and stitched leather boots and gloves.

He had two weapons in his hands; a black flintlock with bandages binding the handle.

And in his other hand was a crude iron axe, the blade was wavy and had a few chips on the edge.

Currently, he was facing a boss monster. "First boss. Study his movements. Evade his attacks. Learn his timing for parrying." He muttered, dodging passed a swiping attack from the boss. The boy then exclaimed as the boss raised its claws, "Now-" Suddenly, the boy's father opened his door, and due to having been in the dark for so long, the boy covered his eyes from the sudden light. "GAH!!!" His character was left to stand still as the monster brought down its claws for a 4-hit claw attack combo that depleted his character's Health Gauge.

"Dad! You got me killed! Knock before you enter!" The young boy exclaimed as he rubbed his eyes as they adjusted to the light.

The father rubbed his head and replied, "Sorry but it's time to go visit your Aunt. So get your shoes on!" The boy looked at his game as his character respawned at a lantern in a room with a knocked-over table and a broken chair. He sighed and put down the control, jumping up from his bed and quickly putting on his shoes. Exiting the door, the boy left his console going for when he got back. "Aren't you going to turn that game off?" The father asked.

"Nah, I'm gonna hope right back on when we get back." The boy answered, hopping on one foot.

The father then asked, "Can't you pause it?"

The boy immediately replied, "Spirit likes can't be paused, that's a feature that's been there for years." The father shrugged and the two left, closing. The sounds of a car started, followed by the sounds of the car leaving the driveway coming from outside.

Inside the game, however, there was a hiccup in the game. A monster had spotted Lance through an open door, it growled off-screen as it slowly entered, normally it would be closed upon respawning. Leaving the monster behind it was unable to see the player's character until it was open, but now it remained open due to an error.

The monster was waist-high and slouched over, with long lanky limbs, a white bulging nose, and covered in dried-up red tendrils, and eyeballs without pupils or sclera. It also had long black nails, and numerous toes and its arms were covered in spikes. The creature's back and the top of its head were clearly visible when it turned around.

It snarled and waited for Lance to make the first move, but without a person at the controller, Lance remained still, unable to attack or dodge. The monster then pounced on him, and clawed Lance violently, but couldn't fight back. The monster backed up and lunged at Lance once again then continued raking its claws on his chest.

The monster then remained in front of Lance before landing a tendril attack by whipping its head back and forth. Lance's Health Gauge then hit Zero. "AAAaaahhh!!!" He screamed as he fell to the ground and dissolved into dust.

A few minutes later, Lance respawned back at the lantern. The door, however, was still open, and the monster, reset back to its starting spot, saw him again.

A week passed and the house still remained empty. Then the mother and father returned, and both looked awful, the father had his arm in a cast, and the mother was in tears with dried tears and makeup covering her face. The young boy was nowhere to be seen. The father and mother sit on the couch they tried watching TV, the news to be exact, but what they see only upsets them more.

[Today a tragic highway accident claims to lives of three people.]

[A fifty-three-year-old male, who was killed by blunt force trauma from the crash, his skull hitting the steering, and the one that caused the accident; Stanley Buler]

[A twenty-year-old female, who died after being launched through her windshield, and slammed against the concrete at sixty-five mph, due to her not wearing her seatbelt; Natalya Evans]

[And, most tragically of all, a twelve-year-old male child, while his parents Mr. Hudson & Mrs. Hudson were saved by EMTs. Due to a faulty seatbelt, he died a quick painless death; Zachary Hudson]

Mrs. Hudson began crying into her hands, Mr. Hudson seemed unable to listen to this so he stood up and walked toward the master bedroom. But he stopped when he passed by Zachary's bedroom door, he reached for the doorknob but stopped...

Mr. Hudson then clenched his fist before moving his hand to the center of the door and gently knocking on the wooden paneling of the door. Pausing... Waiting... For something to happen... But nothing... Just silence... Mrs. Hudson then came down the hallway, she saw her husband in tears. "I always forgot... I always forgot to... I always forgot to knock before I walked in... I always forgot..." Mr. Hudson muttered, before continuing to knock on the door, Mrs. Hudson walked up to her husband and hugged him, as he continued to knock with tears rolling down his stubbled face.

Back in the room, on the TV, the game was still going. Yet, something strange was happening, Lance, the player character, previously unable to move due to no one being at the controller, was twitching. "Aware... Have... To Stay... Awere..." Said a voice from in the game. It was Lance, his back turned to the screen,

"T-... T-... T-... Two... H- ... H- ... H- ... Hundred... Th-... Th-... Th-... Thirty... S-... S-... Seven..." Lance muttered as he twitched in place then the monster entered the room through the open door. "AAAAAGH!" Lance yelled as his Health Gauge was depleted again with a rapid claw strike combo.

"T-... T-... T-... Two... H- ... H- ... H- ... Hundred... Th-... Th-... Th-... Thirty... E-... E-... E-... Eight..." Lance whispered as he respawned in the same place, and began twitching once more. The monster entered the room and lunged at Lance, and whittled away his Health Gauge in seconds.

The words echoed through his head once more... You have fallen... He didn't know where they were coming from but they ... Time seemed to fly by as Lance faced death after death after death. Lance watched with fear laced in his eyes as the monster enter the room. "F-Four... H-Hundred... F Forty... S-Seven..." The monster lunged at Lance and clawed him violently and rapidly. "Aaaaaahhhh!!!" Lance yelled as he was pounced on by the monster, dealing another chunk of damage to his almost empty Health Gauge. He flopped over and turned to dust once more.

Again and again, he heard the voice tell him he had fallen. Hearing it over and over got irritating fast. "Seven... Hundred... Ninty... Two..." Lance grumbled as he watched the monster enter again. He growled as it did its usual cautious movements, like "Come... On... Already! I... Came... Here... To... Cure... My... Illness... But... Got... Pulled... Into... This... Dammed... Hunt! THE! GODS! HAVE! ABANDONED! THIS! PLACE! AND! THE! PEOPLE! ABANDONED! THE! GODS! SO! HIT! ME! SLASH! ME! KILL ME!!!" He roared in fury as the monster lunged at him, unleashing its claws at the once silent player character.

"Time seemed endless, then again... When the sun never moves and night only comes in certain areas, you don't have much of a sense of time." Lance muttered to himself as the Monster entered the room again, Lance seemed calmer now, he was repeatedly, extending and curling his fingers around his weapons. "Time seems to repeat when I die. One thousand three hundred fifty-four." Lance muttered as the monster lunged forward and brought down its claws. Once his health gauge hit zero, he fell to the ground, crumbling to dust without a word.

Hundreds more deaths later, Lance was jerking his body back and forth, his body moving unlike when Zachary left where he couldn't move even an inch. But it was still very difficult as he was seemingly being held back by invisible chains keeping him from moving too much. "One thousand eight hundred eighty-nine," Lance muttered as the monster reentered and the cycle continued.

When Lance respawned, he involuntarily stood up like he always did when he respawned. Lance immediately jerked his head back, causing him to tilt back a bit when he began to go forward from leaning back, Lance jerked his head forward to increase his forward momentum. While he went more forward, it wasn't enough, he began to go backward.

Lance looked up, the monster was turning around like it always did before, starting out facing away before turning around. It saw him and snarled, before crouching down. 'It's going to pounce!' Lance thought, with so many deaths to this creature he knew all of its moves. Lance then jerked his head back as he continued to tilt back. As the monster leaped at him, Lance fell to the floor, landing on his elbow, and the monster went right over him. The monster then stomped down on the stone floor, it turned around releasing a loud growl.

Lance heard a cracking noise, from his arm area, he could feel that his left arm wasn't restrained anymore, and then he moved his head to the left. The monster was approaching again, about to do its three-hit claw combo, Lance didn't even bother being careful. The monster charged and swung its claws at Lance, but he raised his flintlock pistol at the monster. The monster swung at Lance again, but this time, he dodged it. Lance then raised his flintlock again and Lance immediately fired the flintlock at the monster's right leg, the impact caused a powerful shock to be felt through its body.

Lance then quickly shot himself in his other leg, his other arm, and his torso. He didn't put one in his head as it was already somewhat free, and he didn't feel like testing if that would kill him or not. Lance then rose to his feet, ax in one hand and flintlock in the other. The monster recovered from its staggered state, and it growled at Lance. "Let's go freak!" Lance roared.

The monster roared back at Lance, and when the monster roared, Lance saw blood spurting from its mouth onto its claws. "Applying poisonous blood to your claws, bold of you to assume I'd let you hit me after all this time!?" Lance yelled at the monster.

The monster let out a roar before attempting to attack, Lance didn't even hesitate before shooting the monster once more, staggering it. "Parry motherfucker!" Lance yelled before releasing his ax and spearing his hand into the monster's chest, causing blood to be sprayed everywhere. The monster's Health Gauge was emptied and it let out a dying squeal as it crumbled to dust like Lance did so many times before. "I don't know what's going on, but I'm getting the fuck out of this place!" Lance said, opening the door opposite to the open one the monster kept coming through.
