This Entire Crew Is Idiots
Reyna snarled in frustration as the thin knife she was using snapped at the edge of its handle. She'd been trying to trip the lock on the door to her quarters with it, but it seemed that it didn't reach far enough, and now it was useless completely.
She walked to the little balcony attached to her room and peered out along it. They were several stories up, and a couple of her crew were currently attempting escape by draping blankets down over a ledge.
"Don't do that, if they catch you trying to run they'll probably execute you!" She hissed, glaring at them.
"And what are they going to do if we don't try to escape?" Gwen whispered back, wide-eyed. "We're dead either way, Reyna, why not try it?"
"We still have Annabeth, and Piper if she figures out what's happening. We have to trust them."
Leo grunted, sitting on the railing of his balcony. "How do we know Annabeth didn't orchestrate this whole thing in the first place?"
"We have to give her the benefit of the doubt, because she gave us this plan in hopes to help Percy." Reyna crossed her arms.
Leo started to respond, then suddenly sat up straighter, peering out over the castle gardens below them.
"Did you see that?"
Reyna turned to look in the direction he was staring, but all she saw were shifting shadows.
"See what?"
"I just saw someone in black drop down into the garden. I can't see them now- it looked like a man... a man wearing a tricorn."
Reyna raised her eyebrows. "You don't think...?"
"The Fates aren't that merciful." Leo shook his head. "But that was definitely someone up to no good. Let's hope it works out in our favor."
Suddenly someone shouted from inside one of the other rooms. Leo whipped around, nearly falling into the garden below.
"Was that Thalia?"
As Gwen asked it, Thalia burst out onto her balcony. "I've almost got mine open!"
"Good. If you get out, try to get the rest of us out somehow, but keep an eye out for guards."
Thalia nodded and disappeared into her room again. Reyna looked at the others outside with her.
"Try and get your own rooms open. I broke my knife, so I'm stuck, but if you get out either find the others or find Annabeth."
The four outside saluted and went back into their rooms.
Reyna walked in and began to search the room for anything that could help her. There wasn't much there, because it had obviously been furnished to be used as a cell. Just a bed and a desk.
She went to the desk and checked the drawers. Three of them were empty, but she saw a glint in the back of the fourth. It looked like whatever it was had been shoved between the back of the drawer and the bottom.
Gritting her teeth, Reyna gripped the drawer and braced herself. She heaved backwards, yanking the entire thing clear of the desk.
She laid the drawer on the ground and stepped so one foot was inside it. Putting her weight on the bottom, she rested her other foot on the back-piece, then kicked it as hard as she could.
It didn't budge at first, but Reyna gritted her teeth and tried again. After four kicks, the two pieces finally splintered apart.
"Thank the gods." She muttered as she shoved the broken piece away and carefully picked up the thin metal rod from the splinters left over.
It looked like it was some sort of modified crowbar that had been flattened on one end. Reyna inspected it, then glanced at the door.
"Well that's perfect."
As she began the process of tripping the lock, Reyna heard a crash from outside, along with a scream. She gritted her teeth and wiggled the crowbar faster, then heard the audible click of it unlatching.
She threw the door open and raced into the hall, holding the crowbar ready to hit anyone who might be a danger to her.
Down the hall, the smoking remains of a door were lying over an unconscious guard. Thalia was in the middle of the hallway, her hair sticking up all over the place.
She looked up at Reyna and grinned, lightning sparking from her fingers. "I didn't even think of using my powers!"
