Cast Off
Silence reigned on the deck.
"Hello, Jason." Green-Eyes finally said.
"You!" Was all the son of Zeus could manage.
"Me."
"Yer-"
"Yes."
"Why-"
"Why not?"
Jason paused. "I just...I don't know why I didn't think it was ye."
"Come on, Jason, you aren't stupid." Percy smiled at him. "I thought you might have been when we were on your ship, but now I know better. You'd have figured out it was me sooner or later."
"I suppose..." Jason surveyed the crew. "Ye've got a young lot here."
"Took after my dear cousins and recruited demigods." Percy told him. "Introductions are in order, yes? Or are you leaving?"
"If I say yes to the introductions, do I automatically have to stay on the crew?" Jason raised an eyebrow.
"Or you can choose to try and leave and we'll see how far you can run before Reyna slits your throat." Percy said calmly. Jason glanced at the first mate and recognized her from his ship. He shivered slightly, remembering the way he'd acted towards her. She wouldn't hesitate to kill him, he could tell.
"Alright, introduce me."
"Good man." Percy smiled. "Let's start with the ones you partially know. Leo, Piper, Reyna, Frank. The Stolls are here for now because Thalia made a foolish decision and I'm getting my revenge. With any luck they'll see the light."
"You kidnapped them?"
"Piper did."
"In my defense," Piper began from her seat in the rigging, "They were chasing my crewmate."
"He pickpocketed us!" Travis shouted.
"Shut up." Frank cuffed him over the ear.
"Frank helped, by the way!" Piper added.
"Sure did. They deserved to be knocked around a bit." The son of Ares crossed his arms.
"Moving on." Percy turned to the rest of his crew. "Step up, ladies first."
The small girl stepped forward, running her fingers through her hair.
"This is Gwen, daughter of Iris. She's quite the little schemer, but extremely smart. She's also very creative." Percy said.
"Hello." Gwen smiled at Jason.
"Hi."
"Our brawn on the ship, Sherman. He's a son of Ares." The bulky boy stepped forward. Jason could clearly see scars stretched along his muscular arms, there were also a few on his face. His reddish-brown eyes and short blond hair seemed to fit his personality.
"Son of Zeus?" He asked.
"That I am." Jason responded cautiously.
Sherman just made a face. "Can't say I'm too fond of your half sister."
Jason chuckled before he could stop himself. "I don't think many people are."
"The brains to Sherman's brawn, or at least the looks, Mitchell."
"Son of Aphrodite." Mitchell put in, smiling.
"Oh, that reminds me, I've been claimed!" Piper called.
"You have?" Jason asked her.
"Not officially, but I'm apparently a daughter of Aphrodite." She shrugged.
"Finally, our resident message boy-"
"Oi!"
Percy chuckled. "Our resident son of Nemesis, Ethan."
The black haired boy stepped forward, offering his hand. "'Ello."
Jason took it and nodded.
Bells began to ring in the town. The entire crew turned to look at the same time.
"Frank, scout. I want to know why those bells are ringing and who started them." Percy ordered.
Frank transformed into a hawk, surprising Jason, and took off.
"Piper, Leo, get going, I want to be able to leave at a moment's notice. Sherman, stay with these two." Percy motioned to Travis and Conner.
"Yes sir!" The three chorused before jumping to work.
"Gwen, you and Ethan should probably go start cooking. The crew'll need slop when they get done."
Gwen nodded and pulled a semi-reluctant Ethan towards the door to the belowdecks.
"And me?" Reyna asked.
"I want you where you always are most useful." Percy smiled at her.
"So by the wheel?" Reyna smirked.
"That's the place. Especially since I'll be there too." Percy winked at her.
"And me?" Jason asked awkwardly.
Percy looked up, then frowned for a moment, thinking. "How good are you with rigging?"
"I can get by, if one of 'em tells me what to do." He responded.
Percy nodded. "Go."
Jason nodded and shot off the deck, propelling himself into the rigging so he landed next to Piper. "What can I do to help ye?"
"Get the sails ready." She replied shortly, focused on her task.
"Ye got it."
"Captain, let's get moving!" Frank had returned.
"What's the situation?" Percy asked.
"They're looking for you. And I mean Green-Eyes specifically. We should leave quickly."
Percy nodded and turned to his crew. "Well, you heard him! Get on it!"
Marching up to the quarterdeck, he took his place next to the wheel.
Reyna glanced over at him before turning back to her scan of the dock leading to their ship.
"Frank, pull the gangplank!" She roared. Percy could hear heavy boots thudding on wood.
"Cast off!" He bellowed.
Frank dropped the gangplank onto the deck of the ship and ran to the anchor, hauling it up by himself. The sails fell open and Jason waved his hand, making them billow with air.
Percy chuckled as he watched the enraged men who had been running for his ship turn, headed for their own ships.
"They're never going to catch us."
[A/N So Jason's on a ship again....will it stay? Haven't decided yet...also, THAT PICTURE IS AMAZING AND I LOVE IT]
