Chapter 2
I worked from 8:30 to 6 o' clock the next day, giving me time to take a nap between school and work. I was working as a janitor/security guard, two dollars an hour, five days a week. I was getting paid ninety-five dollars a week, which wasn't so bad. It was already 8:16, and I was at the restaurant's doors. I waved at the counter girl, Marisa, who nodded her head at me, and looked back at her phone. The pizzeria closed at 8, which left me to question why Marisa was even still here, due to the fact her shift was over. I had my bag draped over my shoulder, filled with two monsters, my sketchbook, and drawing materials, along with a bag of Cheetos in case I grew hungry. I assumed that sitting around staring at cameras would become boring very soon.
I set the bag down in the security room before I began to inspect the room, trying to take in details best as I possibly could. It had two openings, one on each side, which I guessed had some sort of metal door due to the 'door' button lit up in red which was just under a green button labeled 'lights'. There was a desk which fit perfectly in the room, from one wall to the other. On that desk was a fan, blowing on medium, a phone, scattered drawings that I assumed couldn't fit on the wall along with the other drawings which were pinned up. A single light bulb hung from the ceiling over the desk, giving the room a bit of an eerie look to it. I spotted a tablet sitting on the desk, going over to it, I picked it up and examined it. "It's connected to all the cameras in the restaurant", a sudden voice said, I turned to see Marisa, she was wearing her leather jacket over her uniform, a helmet rested on her hip, held there by her forearm. I looked back at the tablet, responding with "oh, thanks.." "No problem, hey, your uniform is sitting in the boss's office, you're suppose to take it home with you, after tonight. Boss wanted me to stay and say." She said, that solved that mystery as to why she hung around.
"Oh, well, thank you, Marisa. Have a good night", I smiled, she looked at me with, what seemed to be... pity, and refused to look me in the eye as if a guilty conscious was pulling her vision away from me. "Yeah, you too", she said, walking away. I heard the jingle of the bell's, indicating she had left, I sighed heavily, looking at the floor. I walked down the right hall, turning right at the end through the door. I found my uniform sitting on the desk, and I grabbed it, running into the bathroom to change. I kept my black undershirt on under the faded blue button up which I had left unbuttoned, on my left breast, it had my name tag, and a security hat that stated 'security' across it in black letters.
I looked at myself in the mirror, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, placing the hat on, and walking out into the main room. "Where's the supply closet..." I muttered to myself, going down the left hall. I happened to find it down that way, wheeling out the janitor cart. I started to mop down that hall, pulling my phone from my pocket, I turned on 'Tear in My Heart' by Twenty Øne Pilots, and sang along to it. By the end of the song, I was done with that hall, not taking very long. I began to sweep the main room, which took longer due to the wider area. I stopped cleaning and began scrolling through my songs, I turned on 'Don't Go' by Bring Me the Horizon, and began to clean off tables. There was a sudden chime that pricked my ears, and the lights went down. I furrowed my brows, but pushed the janitor cart back into the supply closet.
I sat in the security office, plopping down in the seat and putting my feet up on the desk. I sighed, leaning my head back and gazing up at the ceiling. A sudden ring made me jump, and I looked at the phone that I hadn't noticed before. I picked it up, putting it to my ear. "Hello?" I questioned, it was silent for a few seconds.
Hello, hello? Uh, I wanted to record a message for you- so, it was a recording- to help you get settled in on your first night. Um, I actually worked in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now, as a matter of fact. So, I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm here to tell you there's nothing to worry about. Uh, you'll do fine. So, let's just focus on getting you through your first week. Okay?
"Okay..."
Uh, let's see, first there's an introductory greeting from the company that I'm supposed to read. Uh, it's kind of a legal thing, you know. Um, "Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. A magical place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death has occurred, a missing person report will be filed within 90 days, or as soon property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced."
I froze, eyes wide, and a shiver caressed my back.
Blah blah blah, now that might sound bad, I know, but there's really nothing to worry about. Uh, the animatronic characters here do get a bit quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath? I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too. So, remember, these characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we need to show them a little respect, right? Okay.
So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh, they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night. Uh...Something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for too long. Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was The Bite of '87. Yeah. I-It's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?
"He did survive...." I whispered, shivering. I was there when that happened, the boy was bit by Foxy..
Uh, now concerning your safety, the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see you after hours probably won't recognize you as a person. They'll p-most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume on.
"What's so bad about that..?" I asked
Now since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, they'll probably try to...forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit.
"Oh.."
Um, now, that wouldn't be so bad if the suits themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic devices, especially around the facial area. So, you could imagine how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those could cause a bit of discomfort...and death. Uh, the only parts of you that would likely see the light of day again would be your eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask, heh.
"Oh!" My eyes went wide,
Y-Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up. But hey, first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow. Uh, check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power. Alright, good night.
I shakily put the phone back on the receiver, hearing clanging of metal, I jumped. I quickly pulled the tablet off the desk, pulling up camera 1A, the show stage. Two animatronics were gone, the bunny, who I believe is named Bonnie, and the chicken, who I use to think was a duck, Chica. "Where did they go..?" I whispered, my heart rate beginning to speed up, adrenaline coursing through my veins. I heard what sounded to be... breathing, coming from the right of me, I looked at the door. I could barely see anything, I rolled my chair over, hesitantly pressing the 'light' button.
I jumped, as I saw Chica, her metal worn and old with rust, an retched smell surrounding her aurora. I jumped from my seat, she moved to the door way, cocking her head to the side, as she let out a metallic screech, I screamed, quickly turning and running into a metal chest. I hit the ground, looking up to see the face of Bonnie. His eyes black with red orbs, I backed up against the wall, his steps loud, clanging, echoing in the hall. I was whimpering as I tried to back up more, kicking my legs frantically as my back was already pressed against the old wall.
Bonnie reached out for me, I pushed myself forward, slipping I landed on my stomach, I picked myself up, barely getting to my knees; Bonnie grabbed the back of my shirt, I struggled free, and took off, I stumbled a few tomes running down the hall, the floors were still wet and it was hard to keep myself from slipping on the surface. I turned, fumbling with a wooden door, I managed to pull it open. I shut the door, leaning against it, I looked around to see a stage across the room, chairs stacked on top of each other to the right of me, and on that stage was purple curtains, with white stars. A sign in front of the curtains said ' Out of Order'. Memories suddenly hit me, blood and screams,
I recognized this room, this is where Foxy the Pirate Fox was... I use to sit in front of his curtains each time we came here when I was younger, but, we always had to leave right before the show started. That was back when dad was still alive, I looked at my feet, and back up at the curtains. I felt a sudden urge, to walk up to them, to move aside the curtains, to look at the robotic fox. I stood still, staring, before I finally took an anxious step towards the stage. This is stupid Jazz. Another step. You're going to get yourself killed! I took a few more steps, moving the curtains. I jumped, Foxy stood right there, his snout inches from my nose. My breathing became choppy, his eyes focused on me, and he snarled.
His eye patch flipped up, and he looked over my features, putting his hand on the stage, and leaning forwards as I took a step, back, I whimpered, and he swiped his hook at my shirt, impaling the material and holding me in place. "Wh-wh-why d-di-i-i-d ye co-m-co-co-come 'e-ere, l-la-la-lass-ie-ie?" He questioned in a raspy and glitched robotic voice. It still held the faint pirate accent it had when I was younger. "Ref-refuge," I said, trying to hold bravo in my voice, but not succeeding. He let put a glitches and menacing cackle, before he froze, and got closer to my face. "Y-y-ye be l-look-look-in-in' fa-mili-ar-ar.." Foxy said, cocking his head to the side, he narrowed his eyes, his eye patch flipping down and he cackled, unhooking my shirt with his rusted hook. He stood up on his hind legs, rolling his neck, the motors screeching.
He wore the same brown baggy trousers, held up by the waist with an old rope, which now had frayed ends. He had lost his pirate hat, his legs were missing the coloring and proper suiting, leaving his feet metal claws. His hook was rusted, and he had holes torn in his chest. "Wh-wha-what a-a lan-d-land l-lu-b-ber-lubber", he chuckled, pulling me by my shirt up on the air. He held me over the edge of the stage, holding me up to his snout, he smirked, showing off sharp canines. "Wh-wh-what's y-yer n-na-na-name l-la-ss?" Foxy cooed questioningly, I swallowed nervously, my throat hoarse and my mouth dry. "They call me J-Jazzy", I managed to get out, and his eyes went wide.
