Here they are folks- the official rules for the Picture is Worth 1000 Words contest! 

MUST-HAVES:

Eligibility & restrictions: Open to all writers in the continental US for prizes. Open to anyone in the world if they are willing to forgo tangible prizes should they win. That being said, of course you will still receive the intangibles: namely bragging rights, prime placement in a forthcoming anthology of the top stories, an author interview, and lots of mentions. 

Methods of entry: Write a story that is 1000 words* that is based on the cover photo.  The story can be something you've written in the past, HOWEVER, if it isn't  abundantly clear that is shares anything with the picture we provide, you will be disqualified. 

How to Enter: That's easy, just write your story, and be sure to tag it with: #apicturesworth1000words

DO NOT FORGET TO TELL US HOW MANY WORDS IT IS! (thank you). 

ALSO- be sure to leave a comment here with a link to your story just in case we miss it in the hashtags. 

Content: Keep it PG-13 (or less) folks! While we will be ultimately categorize the anthology as Horror, gratuitous gore, and "adult situations" are likely not to win, because it isn't up everyone's ally. If gore is your thing, I salute you, but this isn't the best place for it. Neither is the 'adult' stuff.  

Copyright: You agree to enter only original material that you have created. You will retain your copyright at all times, and full, and proper credit will be given to you. Furthermore, should you win, or be a runner-up, you agree to offer a free license to @kkosach to re-print your story (with full credit to you!) for an upcoming anthology related to this contest. At that time, full credit will be given to you, along with links to your Wattpad page. 

Deadline: You have until June 30 to get your stories in. Judges will begin looking at entires at that time. 

Prizes: See eligibility above. Meantime, we have iTunes, and Starbucks gift cards** up for grabs, plus bragging rights, a badge, and (hopefully) lots of attention. 

Judging: Indicate who your judges are, if you have them.

*we'll give single-digit wiggle room (1-9 words) so don't worry about being exact with the 1000. However, anything above, or below that is likely to be disqualified. 

**Sorry- tangible gift cards cannot be issued internationally, or outside of the Continental US.
