Fright Knight's POV
"Please?" asked Talia for the 7th time that afternoon.
"No," I replied.
"I promise I'll be careful this time," Talia begged.
We made our way into the throne room, "No. You cannot ride Nightmare again. You nearly fully killed Danny last time," I said.
Talia rolled her eyes and sighed, "He was fine. I would never hurt him."
I looked down at the young maid, "I know but Nightmare is a little wild. Maybe later we'll go riding but I will be the one on Nightmare."
Talia huffed and crossed her arms, "Fine."
I smiled. We floated up to my large throne. It was made of black metal and the top was shaped into two swords dueling. The back and seat were covered with a soft purple cushion. A black and green banner with FK written on it in purple was draped on the back.
Talia beat me to the throne and sat down on it, sticking her tongue out as she did. I laughed at her smug little look.
"We have a guest" the voice of the castle rang in my head.
"Should I even bother to ask who?" I replied.
The voice laughed lightly, "Nope."
I mentally sighed, sometimes the castle just loved to be it's childish self.
"Who's here?" Talia asked.
I turned to look at her. Raising an eyebrow I said, "How did you know someone was here?"
Talia shifted on the throne, trying to make herself comfortable, "You always cross your arms whenever the castle won't tell you something. Mostly if there's a guest."
I smiled, "You're pretty smart."
Talia beamed, "I bet Nightmare it's Danny again. He's been coming around a lot," she said, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
I gave her a sly smile, "Ok, I say it's Clockwork."
We both faced the doors of the throne room, Talia bouncing on the throne. The grand purple doors slowly creaked open and from them entered....
"Am I interrupting something?" Clockwork asked in his elderly form.
Talia groaned and I laughed, "Nothing Time Master, just another bet."
Clockwork raised an eyebrow and floated towards us, "The King of All Ghosts should not gamble this much. Especially when the prize is a ride on his loyal steed."
"I agree with the Time Master," the voice said.
"Of course you would," I replied.
"So, what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?" I asked Clockwork.
"Can't an old spirit drop by every now and then?" he said as he shifted to his toddler form.
"With you, I can never tell. You're a greater mystery than the day I first met you Time Master," I told the Master of Time.
Clockwork shrugged and floated over to Talia giving her a little pat on the head, "Yes well-"
Clockwork was cut off by a sudden explosion. The castle screamed in pain, it's voice rattling inside my head. My vision was becoming blurry and my head pounded. I sank to my knees in pain. Talia rushed to my side, "My King! Are you hurt?" she asked worriedly.
I couldn't respond, the pain was too much. "King Pavor! Please say something!" Talia said, tugging on my arm.
"I'm.... fine," I manged to say.
The pain had dulled down and my vision had cleared. I could still sense the castle's pain but it seemed to be recovering. Talia helped me onto my feet. I looked over at Clockwork, who had his staff gripped tightly in his hands.
"What was that?" Talia asked, looking from me to Clockwork, who was now in his middle aged form. The Time Master and I shared a look. Then, something started knocking on the doors of the throne room.
I stood up tall and whispered to Talia, "Get behind me."
She did as she was told and stood behind me, clutching my cape in her hands. I could feel her shaking. The knocking on the doors continued. Then it stopped.
I slowly gripped my sword and started to pull it out of it's sheath. The doors flew open with a resounding crash. Smoke poured into the room and I was able to catch a glimpse of two limp staff members in all the smoke.
Just then, a ghost emerged from the smoke. He had flaming white hair, glowing blood red eyes, a pair of white fangs, tinted blue skin, and a yellow stone on a black chain was around his neck. He wore a black and white HAZMAT suit with a flowing cape. The suit held a symbol on the chest, a flaming red crown covered in black thorns with a blue diamond in the center.
I heard Clockwork gasp beside me as the ghost began to speak, "Hello everyone. Miss me?"
