"Hold on, why are we at the single worst ghoul jail in Tokyo?" I looked around the place, confused.

"Duh, for subjects," Narino-san waved it off, "We need SOMEONE to try your attempt on."

"Right.. so like, we're not going around black alleys, looking for some ghouls?" Narino-san looked at me strangely, and I turned my head, "Never mind.."

"Hide, are you sure this isn't some plan to lock us up..?" Kaneki whispered to me, glancing around the place in suspicion as if he was a spy.

I sighed, "Of course not, Kaneki. We have a deal with the CCG, remember? And neither side is going to break that deal. Even if they were planning to lock us up, I'm sure we'd be able to escape. But we're just here to try out my injection."

"Your injection..?" he looked at me.

"Yes, Kaneki, the thing I've been working on the past few days or so, remember?"

"Uh, NO," Narino-san commented, "It was so not a few days."

"Well, however long it was. Anyway, how are we going to choo-"

"We're here," Ichi-san declared, pressing a few buttons, "S-rated Tsubasa." The door opened, and we all walked in. On the other end of a window was a smirking man with blue hair.

"My time to shine," Narino-san pulled his sleeves up. "Give me that injection, will you?" he held his hand out. I - with slight reluctance - handed him the injection I'd worked so hard on.

"Why this guy of all people?" I inquired.

Ichi-san was the one to reply and explain, "S-rated Tsubasa is a very dangerous ghoul. Some even claimed he should be rated SS. He's a bikaku, but he's very quick. He got his name from the way he uses his kagune in such a quick way that it almost resembles a wing, only from the lower section of the back. He has killed many investigators and civilians alike.

"He was recently caught. He offers plenty of information, but he refuses to speak. He has also made numerous attempts at escaping. The CCG decided the risk was not worth the reward, so he'll be killed. The experiments we make are always tried - just in case - on the ghouls on death row. Our Experimenter also attempts to get any last bits of information out of the ghoul before their death. Watch, Narino is about to begin."

So they don't make it quick, I assume..

I looked at the window, pulling Kaneki close to me. I covered his eyes.

"? Hide?"

I don't know what Narino-san is going to do, but.. it would probably be best if Kaneki doesn't watch. Unfortunately, I can't plug his ears in addition to his eyes.

"Alright, there we go. All nice and strapped. Do you know what this is, Tsubasa?" Narino-san lifted the injection. Tsubasa glared at him. "It's an injection. An injection that will put you in a loooot of pain. You'll wish you were never even born; it'll hurt that much."

Hah? We don't know the effect on anyone yet.. But, it shouldn't hurt.. not at all! I tried really hard just to make sure of that!

"Hide? Wh-What's going on? What inje-"

"Don't worry about it, Kaneki, he's bluffing."

"So, I want to ask you something, and if you answer correctly, maybe I won't give you this injection. Now, tell me, is there any information you want to tell me, Tsu-ba-sa?" Narino-san placed the needle right against Tsubasa's arm. "Anything at all. Maybe a ghoul's real name or-"

"Hah! Like I'd really give any information like that even if I had any," Tsubasa scoffed, "I bet you plan to give me that injection either way anyway! So just get it over with already!"

"Are you sure, Tsu-ba-sa? Last chance," Narino-san cocked his head.

"Yeah! So get it over with already!"

"Hm. Fine then." Narino-san shot the injection into his arm, and the ghoul screamed. I watched with wide eyes.

How..? I made sure it wasn't dangerous.. They didn't tweak it, did they?

"Hi-Hide? Wh-What's going on?"

"Don't worry about it," I murmured back to him, "It's alright, Kaneki."

D*mn.. What the h*ll?

"Let's give you this injection next," Narino-san grabbed another shot. I realized he must not have injected the ghoul with my serum. He must've put it down while I wasn't paying attention, talking to Ichi-san. "This is an injection that makes you submissive, so you'll follow any command I give you -- and you won't even remember it."

D*mn, that sounds like a good injection.

I looked at Kaneki.

He seemed curious of the injection as well, "I-It really makes you submissive?"

Narino-san had already injected the ghoul, and he was asking about information he knew.

We had sat down a while ago. I was still covering Kaneki's eyes, and I had my head tilted back.

"Nagachika. Nagachika!"

"Huh, what?!" I scrambled forward.

"Haha, you're drooling, Hide," Kaneki wiped up my drool with his finger, putting his finger into his mouth afterward.

"..." I stared at him. What the f*ck.

"Yummy."

"... Kaneki's weirdness aside, what are you doing back in here, Narino-san?" I referred back to who had woken me up. (I hadn't even realized I fell asleep!)

"We're leaving."

"Huh? But what about the-"

"I already finished up with Tsubasa. He's dead."

"..o-oh.. b-but not from.. It couldn't have been from my injection, right..?"

"No."

"Okay, that's good.."

"Alright then. Let's go."

"The effects..?"

"Here, Nagachika-san," Sagaru-san handed me his notepad, "You can read my report."

"Thanks," I let my eyes scan over the page, reading it. The injection was a failure, but it didn't hurt the ghoul in any way. The ghoul hadn't reacted to human food though, which meant the smell component of that injection was perfect.

I handed the notepad back to Sagaru-san, and we left.

"Nagachika," I spoke out as he and Kaneki tried to leave.

"?" he turned to me. He was still groggy. Unfortunately, it took a while to get everything in place. "Sagaru-san, I don't mean to be rude, but we need to get a move on," he scowled, "We have to look at three apartments today."

"I know, but I wanted to give you guys this," I handed him a stack of cards.

"What is this?" he snarled, looking at them. "H-Huh?" his eyes eased up.

"We got you a day off tomorrow," Taiga put his arm over my shoulders leisurely, "The whole team's off, so we're all going. We already paid, but we can get refunds if we choose to. There are seven beside you and Kaneki, right? So we got thirteen. Yuki was insistent that he thought those others needed the break too."

"Th-This.. You didn't have to do this!" he looked back up at us.

"What is it, Hide?" Kaneki-san curiously peeked into Hide's hands. "Hah?" his eyes furrowed in irritation.

"N-No, really, like, I doubt Ryou and the others would accept this.. And Kaneki.. wouldn't deal with something like this well.."

"Give me that!" Kaneki-san snatched the cards from him, preparing to rip them up, and my eyes widened.

"Whoa whoa whoa!" Nagachika-san stopped him, "Relax, Kaneki, relax. Don't rip them. They can't get their money back if you rip it like that."

"You.. You won't go to the hot springs..? Hide."

"I don't have to go, no," Nagachika-san took the cards out of his hands, handing them to me, "I'm sorry, Sagaru-san, Narino-san, I really appreciate it, but I can't accept this.."

"And why not?" Taiga growled, "We got it all ready for you guys, and you're just gonna refuse it?!!"

"I'm sorry, Nari-"

"Hold on, hold on," I tried to keep a steady mind, "Nagachika-san, can you tell us WHY you must refuse them?"

"Well.. Maybe Ryou and the others would go without us, but with us.. And I.. Kaneki and I would be nude. He's very.. protective, you see.."

"Then you can just go in when there's no one else there, or you can keep a towel over yourself."

"..." Nagachika-san looked at Kaneki-san. His eyes told me he wanted to go, and he was asking permission from Kaneki-san silently. Kaneki-san seemed unnerved by that. "Kaneki.. I really want to go; it'd be better for all of us.. Please?" Nagachika-san verbally asked when he hadn't responded.

"I.. I.. I don't want you to go, Hide.. I want you all to myself.. I-I know.. th-that you might want.. other people, but.."

"Kaneki, you heard Sagaru-san, and anyway, you'll be there with me- you can protect me."

Kaneki-san stared at Nagachika-san for a few more seconds before replying. "W-Well.. alright."
