A Birthday Kiss
Yeliz fluttered her eyes open and smiled. Today she was finally turning 21. She'd had a long flight from England to California yesterday, but she'd managed to sleep a full eight hours, thanks to the unusually comfortable hotel bed.
Of course, it wasn't just an average hotel bed--or an average hotel for that matter. This was the Beverly Hills Hotel, where all the wealthy people came to stay.
One of Yeliz's friends, Michelle, had managed to get a front desk job here, and that came with some perks. So when her Michelle had invited her to come visit her in LA, Yeliz jumped at the chance. What better way to celebrate turning 21?
Later that afternoon, Yeliz and her friend enjoyed a light lunch, and then they did a little shopping on Rodeo Drive. Yeliz wanted to find something fabulous to wear to dinner tonight.
And then she found it: The perfect dress. It was a dark crimson red, and it fit like a glove, showing all her curves, but in a classy way. She also found the perfect pair of shoes to go along with it.
Back at the hotel, Yeliz took a relaxing bubble bath, then touched up her makeup and donned her new outfit. She looked in the mirror and had to admit she looked good. She felt so grown up, and even sexy. Then she went down to the lobby to meet up with Michelle. She was a little uncomfortable at first, as she was getting a lot of admiring glances from men. She had not yet grown accustomed to her blossoming beauty. In her mind, she was still that awkward schoolgirl. But in reality, she had become quite stunning. Even in a city like LA, where there were thousands of beautiful models and actresses, she stood out in the crowd. There was no way any man could ignore her.
Michelle had managed to get reservations at one of the hottest restaurants in town, and it hadn't been easy. She'd had to make the reservations months in advance.
But as she and Yeliz entered the restaurant, the host delivered horrible news: The restaurant was closed for a private party.
"But I made reservations months ago!" Michelle objected.
"I'm sorry," the host said, not sounding very sincere at all, "There's nothing I can do about it."
"But it's my friend's birthday," Michelle begged, "and she came all the way from England. Can't you fit us in? It's just the two of us."
"No," he said huffily. "This is a very exclusive party. You'll have to go somewhere else."
"It's ok," Yeliz said, trying to hide her disappointment. She'd been dying to go to this restaurant. "Let's just go somewhere else."
"On a Saturday night in LA?" Michelle said, clearly upset. "The only place we'll be able to get in without reservations is a coffee shop or burger joint."
Just then several long black limousines pulled up at the curb. A gorgeous man with luxurious black hair, full lips, and mysterious eyes stepped out and looked right at Yeliz.
Was it...was that who she thought he was?
"Hello, beautiful," the man said in a smooth voice.
It was him. Freddie Mercury. Yeliz felt as though she might faint.
"Say something!" Michelle whispered, nudging you.
But you couldn't speak. You just stared.
"It's her birthday," Michelle blurted out, instantly feeling foolish.
Just then, the restaurant host came running out, telling Yeliz and Michelle he was going to have security escort them off the property if they didn't leave.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Mercury, I have no idea how these girls found out the band's party was here tonight," the host said.
Wait, the whole band was going to be here? Holy crap.
"What are you going on about?" Freddie asked the man. "These girls are with us!"
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Mr. Mercury," the host apologized profusely. "I...I made a mistake. Please forgive me..."
"It's fine, dear," Freddie said in his best posh accent. "Now stop groveling."
Before they knew it, Freddie had taken both girls over to a large table in the restaurant, making sure Yeliz was seated right next to him.
"What's your name, darling?" Freddie asked.
"Yeliz," she answered bashfully.
"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl. I'm Freddie by the way," he laughed.
Yeliz was introduced to the rest of the guys, and she admired how they were all so good-looking. Not as good-looking as Freddie, though. He had the kind of face she could stare at forever.
She couldn't believe this was happening. It was all so surreal. She was having dinner with Queen, one of the hottest bands around, and they were all so nice. Freddie was especially warm and considerate, and nothing like his stage persona. Yeliz was trying hard not to stare at him, but his eyes were so magnetic, it was difficult. She had already fallen in love.
After dinner, a large cake was wheeled in, and Yeliz gasped in delight.
"Happy Birthday, Yeliz," Freddie said softly, taking her hand in his.
She felt that undeniable spark, and Freddie winked mischievously. Could he tell what she was feeling?
And then the whole band began singing Happy Birthday to her, even John, and Yeliz had to fight back happy tears. Who else was lucky enough to have Queen sing Happy Birthday to them?
"Have you had a birthday kiss yet?" Freddie asked.
"Um, no..." she answered shyly.
"Well I'll have to give you one then," he said.
He brought his face close to hers, and Yeliz was afraid to move. What if all this was just a dream? What if she woke up and found herself back in England? But then she felt the warm softness of his lips on hers, and her lips parted involuntarily, inviting him to explore her mouth deeper. This was no ordinary birthday kiss. This was the kind of kiss that left a person weak in the knees. This was the kind of kiss every woman dreamed of.
"Damn," Roger said after the kiss finally ended. "Maybe you two should get a room."
"Maybe we should," Freddie said lustily.
Was he too much man for Yeliz, she wondered? She wouldn't mind trying...
After many glasses of wine, the party was started to wind down, and that saddened her greatly. She didn't want it to end.
As if reading her mind, Freddie said, "It doesn't have to end, not if you don't want it to..."
"I don't want it to..." Yeliz responded.
Freddie stood up, offering his arm, and she accepted it.
She couldn't think of a better way to end the night than in Freddie's bed...
THE END
