I BLAME THE STARS

I believe the stars are not by my side,
although I do stare at them every night.
What lies within the heart that sought more than solace?

I crave the touch of those colourful coins
that glitter in the sun.
I crave a shelter that many eyes will behold,
and the privilege of eating with a golden spoon -
In a dining table graced by the presence of nobles and kings.

if those desires were to be granted, I would thank the stars.
Maybe I could then make her mine.
But that might be too late.
For I saw her embracing a man, and for that reason, I blame the stars.
