Parker's POV

I wake up when I hear Val's giggles pouring into the door. She waves goodbye to two other people standing outside the door laughing with her. Then, she closes the door and hunches over, clutching her stomach from the pain of laughter.

"Val? You all good there?" I ask, slightly concerned.

She takes a few seconds to stop laughing, wiping a tear away from her eye, "I'm better than ok. Let me tell you all about last night."

She then proceeds to tell me every detail of her latest revenge scheme with Crystal and Shelby. I didn't think Crystal would be that fun to hang out with but I guess she's ok once you get to know her.

At some point, I kind of zone out to just watch Val talk excitedly. She's so happy and I never want to wipe that smile off her face.

"...although at some point she kissed me and that was really weird," Val's voice starts to become clearer in my head.

Wait. What?!

"Huh? Who kissed you? Jeremiah? I'll kill him," I start to get up from the bed.

"No! I never kissed Jeremiah. Crystal kissed me when we were meant to be pretending to have fun," Val explains.

"She kissed you?"

"Yeah. It was really awkward but we've decided to ignore it. I think she was just getting into the acting a bit too much."

Or maybe...

"But besides that, I can't imagine how Jeremiah is feeling. He's probably gonna switch rooms with someone. I wonder who," Val moves on casually. How can she just ignore something so substantial?

But I guess I'll respect her decision.

"I'm glad the three of you had fun," I say, trying to end the conversation. "Why don't we just have an us day today? No drama, no illegal stuff, just you, me, science, and froyo."

She smiles widely making my heart melt, "Sounds perfect."

We both get ready and head out to the breakfast bar and froyo station. I let Val sit down and I head up to the counter.

"Hello. What would like for today?" the cashier asks in a very friendly tone.

I tell her my order and then wait for her to bring it out. She shouts the order to someone in the back and then comes back up to the front. She leans her elbow on the counter and her head on her hand and bats her eyelashes.

"That order will come out for you in just a second," she pauses. "You know, you sure eat a lot for someone your age. If you need someone to share the food with, I'd be happy to help."

Taken aback, I stutter, "O-oh, no thanks. The order is for me and my girlfriend," I gesture over to Val, who's waiting at our table.

She sits up and rolls her eyes while walking back to grab our tray. She walks back up with an annoyed look on her face and places the tray on the counter harshly.

"Your order," she says monotonously. I pick up the tray (with caution) and go drop it off with Val so I can grab our froyo.

After breakfast and some chitchat, we head over to the center to do some actual science. The whole time we work on a magnet that's has just enough strength to pull things out from the surface of Mars. 

While Val goes to pick up a tool that we need to screw something in, she bumps into a boy and I eavesdrop on the conversation.

"Oh um sorry."

"It's ok. I'm lucky to have bumped into a girl as cute as you."

"Uhh ok."

"No wait! Do you want to work on some stuff with me for a while? I'll do most of the work and you can just relax."

"I don't think so. My boyfriend's waiting on me and I like to do the work most of the time," Val pushes past him and comes back over to a smiling me.

After working on that for a few hours, we head back to our room and just watch a movie on Val's bed. She falls asleep in my arms and I couldn't be happier.

What a perfect day.
