Jungkook is in panic mode. He's been caught in a lie, but not only that, Taehyung didn't just walk in by himself; he walked in with Mina. Mina out of all people?! What the hell are they doing hanging together?
"Why is that bitch here?" Naeun whispers into Jungkook's ear.
"I don't know?" Jungkook said, looking puzzled. His heart drops when he makes eye contact with Taehyung-the look Taehyung gives Jungkook is a mix of surprise and disappointment. How will Jungkook explain this?
"Hi guys~" Mina grins, grabbing a chair to sit at their table. "You don't mind if we sit here?"
Taehyung is silent as he also grabs a chair, sitting next to Naeun after she moves her bag.
"Yes, we mind. You can't sit with us," Naeun snaps. "No one invited you." She turns to Taehyung. "You can stay, though." She winks.
"Don't be a grouch, Naeun," Mina says, her grin still prevalent. "We're all friends here."
Jungkook and Naeun snort in unison.
Jungkook does a small wave to Taehyung, who looks uninterested.
"Funny seeing you here," Taehyung says nonchalantly.
Yep, Taehyung is mad. Jungkook doesn't know how he'll explain this one.
"What are you two doing here, anyway?" Naeun asks, taking another bite of her food.
"I asked Mina if she can help me with my assignments," Taehyung says.
Jungkook pushes his plate towards Taehyung as a peace offering, but he rejects it, pushing it back. Jungkook has barely touched his food, and it's probably going to be left untouched since he has no appetite. He stands up, excusing himself to the washroom.
"Don't leave me alone here," Naeun whisper-shouts to Jungkook, but he shrugs her off.
When he walks into the bathroom, he makes a beeline to the sink. He tries to calm his nerves by splashing cold water on his face. A little pep talk in the mirror gives him the courage to walk back out, but when he looks over to their table he is shocked to see that Taehyung and Mina are gone.
"Where'd they go?" Jungkook asks.
Naeun takes one last fork full of pancake that looks like it had soaked up a whole bar of butter before saying, "They went somewhere else. Taehyung wanted to leave."
No. This can't be happening. He needs to clear up the misunderstanding.
"What's wrong?" Naeun asks. "You look constipated. Did you not go to the toilet?"
"I told Taehyung I was helping my Mum with something but he caught me here with you," Jungkook says.
"Okay... So you lied about seeing me? Why?" Naeun takes Jungkook's plate and starts eating.
"If I told him the truth, he would have insisted on coming. How are we meant to talk about Mina if he were here?"
Naeun laughs. "It would have been better if he just heard the conversation. Are you an idiot?" Naeun shakes her head, taking a sip of water. "He needs to know that she's a snake."
"I've tried telling him before. He doesn't believe me. He'll just think I'm being jealous."
Naeun rolls her eyes. "You guys act like you're a couple or something. Gross. I never got his obsession with you."
Jungkook takes the plate back. "You can't eat my food if you're going to be like this."
Naeun pouts.
"I'd like to read that notebook now. Maybe I'll just ask Mina," Jungkook says.
"No! No one can read it! We just need to get it back and then I can burn it in peace." Naeun gets out her phone. "I have to meet up with Seokjin."
"You guys are still friends?" Jungkook furrows his brows. "Doesn't he sit with Mina now?"
Naeun gives Jungkook a smirk. "That's what I want Mina to think. I can't count on you alone to get the notebook." She stands up, stacking the now two empty plates. "I'll pay since I ate both."
"Oh. Thanks." Jungkook scratches his head as Naeun takes her leave. He needs to study for exams-he's meant to do it tonight with Taehyung, but that plan might have fallen through.

At home, Jungkook is lounging on the couch. He's been waiting for hours for Taehyung's reply; however, Taehyung left the first message on read and hasn't opened the rest, showing that he must really be mad.
Tired of waiting, Jungkook gives Taehyung a call. It rings more than five times before he picks up.
"Taehyung?" Jungkook's voice cracks.
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry." Jungkook grips the phone tightly, waiting for everything to be okay, but the silent pause lasts a little too long for Jungkook's liking. "Tae?"
"Okay."
"Okay?" Jungkook could cry.
"I accept your apology," Taehyung says.
"Really?" Jungkook's smile is unsteady.
"Yeah."
"So you're not mad?"
He hears Taehyung chuckle softly. "Maybe a little, but it's okay."
"I really am sorry," Jungkook repeats. He'll do anything to have Taehyung here.
"I was just a little confused. I don't care who you hang out with, it's just that you lied. If you didn't want to hang, you could have just said so."
Jungkook's chest feels heavy. "I did want to see you," he cries out. "I always want to be with you."
"It's okay." Taehyung sighs. "I have to study. Bye."
"Are you coming over?" Jungkook asks. "Hello?" Taehyung hangs up on him. He has a terrible feeling about this. The phone call didn't end in the best way. Jungkook tries to call again, but Taehyung doesn't answer.
Taehyung's still mad?
Jungkook sends a text message and waits. Nothing. It can't end like this. Jungkook can't do anything until he gets rid of this feeling. How is he supposed to study for exams like this? He puts his shoes on and rushes out. Taehyung's place is only a five-minute walk from his, so he takes it slow, running over what he should say in his head.
Slow is no longer an option when he feels a raindrop trickle down his fringe. Soon it turns into a downpour and he has to make a run for it. He slips on the pavement and grazes his elbow.
Fuck.
He doesn't let it bother him and starts running again. He has more important things to worry about. By the time he reaches Taehyung's house, he's drenched. He tries to catch his breath as he knocks on the door.
The door opens, revealing a surprised Taehyung.
"Jungkook? What are you-" Taehyung scans Jungkook's body. "You're drenched!" He pulls Jungkook inside and drags him to a chair in the kitchen. "Stay here."
Jungkook nods, wiping the water away from his face. He doesn't regret coming. Seeing Taehyung's face already eases him.
Taehyung returns with a towel and some new clothes. "What have you done to yourself?" Taehyung says, shaking his head. He uses the towel to dry Jungkook's hair. It feels good.
"Arms up," Taehyung says.
"What?"
"You need to change. Can't have you catching a cold," Taehyung says.
"Can you turn around?" Jungkook blushes.
"Don't be silly. I've seen you naked many times before. Another won't hurt. Arms up."
Jungkook hesitantly raises his arms, letting Taehyung take his shirt off. It's cold, but Taehyung's touch warms him up-even if blocked by a towel. His upper body is dried before Taehyung slips the shirt over Jungkook's head. Jungkook lazily puts his arms through the sleeves.
"Now the pants," Taehyung says.
Jungkook doesn't protest this time. He knows there's no way out of it. The process is repeated but with his lower body. New socks, not new underwear-he wishes he could wear Taehyung's. His underwear doesn't need changing, anyway-the water didn't reach.
"I'll be back," Taehyung says. He returns with a first-aid kit. "Can I see your elbow?" Taehyung asks, gently holding Jungkook's arm. "How'd this happen?"
Jungkook lets out a nervous laugh. "I tripped."
Taehyung opens the first-aid kit, pulling out a cotton swab and some disinfectant. "This is going to hurt a little."
Jungkook nods, biting down on his lip.
Taehyung gently places a Band-Aid over the cleaned wound and adds a tender kiss for good measure. "There, good as new."
With a grin on his face, Jungkook feels his heart race. "Thank you."
"Be careful next time." Taehyung shakes his head. "Why'd you come, anyway?"
"You weren't answering the phone." Jungkook pouts. "I thought you were still mad at me and I wanted things to be right again."
Taehyung pulls Jungkook up and hugs him, snuggling his chin on Jungkook's shoulder. "You're so cute. You didn't need to be so dramatic turning up here drenched and wounded."
"Sorry." Jungkook tightens the hug.
"No, don't be." Taehyung rubs circles on Jungkook's back.
"So you're not mad?" Jungkook asks.
Taehyung pulls back, looking Jungkook in the eyes. "I can't stay mad at you." He kisses Jungkook on the forehead. "No more lies between us, okay?"
Jungkook nods. "I love you," Jungkook mumbles.
Taehyung smiles. "I love you too."
Will Taehyung believe Jungkook now if he tells him about Mina?
