Tuesday mornings have gotten easier now that he has Soobin as his partner in food studies. Jimin is also in this class. He's kind of grown to like Soobin. He's probably the most inoffensive friend Jungkook has—there's not much competition, and yes, Taehyung is the definition of offensive. He wrote another list—cause he does that; A list of reasons why Taehyung is offensive.
Reason 1; Taehyung doesn't understand the concept of privacy and space. After Soobin left last night, Taehyung insisted on staying over, which is why this list exists. Taehyung can no longer sleep in the guest room. His reason? It's haunted, apparently. So now he hogs up his entire bed, and in the middle of the night, they end up spooning; Jungkook cannot pinpoint how and why it happens.
Reason 2; Taehyung doesn't know how to knock before entering. The amount of times Taehyung has barged in while Jungkook is changing is endless. He accidentally left the bathroom door unlocked while he was in the shower once, and Taehyung didn't even bat an eye—in fact, he had the audacity to comment on Jungkook's arse. I'm sure we all remember how that ended.
Reason 3; Taehyung happily prances around getting away with everything. He rarely ever gets in trouble, and he always gets what he wants, while Jungkook has to claw his way from behind. That's not even the offensive part; what makes this all offensive is that Taehyung is so nonchalant about it. Like c'mon, at least acknowledge the pretty-boy privilege.
Reason 4; Taehyung—looking the way he does—makes Jungkook feel funny and question his sanity. Because of his annoyingly good looks, Jungkook has to deal with his stupid admirers and now he's got himself being blackmailed by one of them. If Taehyung could tone down the hotness, perhaps Jungkook wouldn't have to stress about the double date later today.
"Want a biscuit?" Soobin asks Taehyung, pushing the container of biscuits towards him.
Earlier in food studies, Soobin insisted on taking the almonds out of the biscuit recipe, even though the recipe they were using is literally named almond biscuits. Without almonds, what does that make the almond biscuit then? That aside, because of this, Soobin accidentally slipped that Yoongi is allergic to nuts—information Jungkook wasn't ready to process, because one; what does that have to do with their almond biscuits, and two; Yoongi is allergic to nuts?! Jungkook couldn't control his amusement. Yes, it might sound horrible, but Jungkook thinks it's hilarious that a mere nut can defeat the mighty Yoongi.
Yoongi who's cool and sleek. Yoongi who is grumpy and stern. Yoongi who hates Jungkook and has some sort of connection with Soobin that Soobin is refusing to tell Jungkook. Yes, that Yoongi.
Jungkook tried to pry into the relationship, but Soobin didn't budge. All he knows is that Soobin wanted to bake biscuits for the guy, and who is Jungkook to stop him? But now he's left with almondless biscuits—is almondless a word?
Taehyung reaches his hand into the container, grabbing one of the biscuits. "What type of biscuit are they?"
"Almond biscuits without almonds," Jungkook nonchalantly says.
Taehyung snorts. "Doesn't that just make them plain biscuits?" He takes a bite out of one. "It's a bit bland."
Jungkook gasps. "Don't insult our hard work."
Mina and her stupid packed lunch sits down next to Taehyung. She slides it in front of Taehyung.
Mina and her fucking packed lunch. No Jungkook is not jealous.
"I made this one for you," Mina says.
Taehyung widens his eyes. "Me? Just me?" Taehyung looks to Jungkook then Soobin. "What about everyone else?"
"I-I have to go," Soobin says, taking the container of biscuits.
"Already?" Jungkook asks. "What is it?"
"I have some things to organise before the next class," Soobin says, taking his leave.
Strange.
"I saw him talking to Yoongi this morning," Taehyung says, pushing the food to the middle of the table. "Share with me, Jungkook."
Jungkook wonders what type of relationship Yoongi and Soobin share and if any of this is related to the notes he's been receiving. He looks to the food in the middle of the table, then to Mina, who seems somewhat irritated. Perfect. Jungkook smugly grins, reaching out to take some of the food. "I hope you don't mind, Mina."
Mina's eyebrow twitches. "I don't mind."
💌
I have a surprise for you. Excuse yourself and make your way to the bathroom
Jungkook cradles his face with his hands, elbows digging into the desk. Should he do as the note says? What if it's a prank? What if the note-writer is there? He's not ready for any of this. Despite his fears, he puts his hand up.
"Miss, can I go to the toilet?" Jungkook asks the teacher.
"You'll have to wait till Jimin comes back," the teacher replies.
Again? Why is it always Jimin?
Well, that settles things. Jungkook won't go. Staying here is more comfortable right now. But when Jimin returns, eyeing Jungkook as he walks through the door, curiosity gets the better of him. He excuses himself and makes his way to the toilet.
"Hello?" Jungkook calls out once he's in the bathroom. "Anyone here?" He chuckles to himself, thinking that this could be a setup for a horrible horror movie.
No one replies.
He checks each stall, hoping to find a note.
Nothing.
Is this the right bathroom? He feels somewhat disappointed. When he goes to leave, he notices a piece of paper stuck to the door. Grabbing it, he opens and reads;
I bet you want to know who I am, right? That's why you're here in the middle of class.
This person is smug; that's one thing Jungkook knows for sure. He continues reading.
If you want to know, make your way to the rooftop.
Jungkook folds the note, putting it in his pocket. Rooftop? The last time he went up there was when he skipped class with Taehyung. Taehyung insisted that they go up and hide from Ms Choi since he didn't finish his homework. Taehyung got Jungkook to impersonate his mother calling him in sick. Anyway, Jungkook ended up helping him finish the assignment so he could hand it in the next day.
He leaves the bathroom, making his way up. Opening the doors, Jungkook walks out, the sun shining a bit too brightly, making him squint. There's a chair with a box placed on top of it. He hesitates before opening—what if something pops out?
He should leave. Yes. Jungkook is going to leave. He turns on his heels but freezes. "Fine," he says, turning back around, opening the lid.
Inside the box lays another note, in a sea of cut out hearts and a block of chocolate. He opens the note and reads;
If you take this gift, consider it a sign that you want to take things further. If you leave it, I will stop sending you these notes.
What does he do?
He pulls at his hair. He should just leave like he's supposed to. This is what he wanted all along, right? For these notes to stop. No more drama, no more stress. But what's achieved from that? Will the note-writer keep their word and pretend none of this happened? Will Jungkook forget it all too?
He shakes his head.
Jungkook can't lie; his heart is racing at the thought of being admired by someone. The fact that this is all happening still isn't believable to Jungkook, and it is the main source of his confusion. Why him? It could've been anyone else. But no, this person chose Jungkook. There's a part of him that wants this all to be real. He wants to know who it is.
Jungkook gulps.
He doesn't want the notes to stop anymore. He doesn't want everything to go back to normal. He wants to know what it feels like to be loved.
He takes the block of chocolate along with the note, feeling a great deal of accomplishment because, yes, that decision was hard. He worked hard for that realisation, and he deserves this damned chocolate. This better be worth it.
