Part 13 - Breakin' In!
Skip hissed as Jack threw him out the front door, slamming the door and locking him out.
"Well, that was certainly uncalled for!" Skip hissed again.
That night, Stephanie, with Skip in the bag, were both brought to a cabin in the western forest. A Cabin that had been thought to be run down, but they found that it had been patched up, until it could serve as a quality summer home, or something along those lines.
Skip was shocked by a horse, an old, nearly worn out horse, the one who had brought them there, unknowingly. "Are you... Okay?" He asked, very slowly and confused.
Skip huffed. "No, I am not okay. My Princess is inside there, with two hooligans, and I've got dirt... dirt on my bum!" Skip calmed down. "Who are you?"
"Um... Herve."
"Nice to meet you, Herve. I'm Skip."
Meanwhile, inside, Stephanie was pounding at the door to the room she had been locked in. "I command you to unlock this door!" She shouted.
"Yes, your highness." Mark went to go unlock the door before Jack hit him.
"What is wrong with you? We're in charge." Jack said.
"Right. I knew that."
"No you didn't."
Skip, now sitting on top of Herve, huffed again. "I can't believe they won't let me in there. My Princess needs me."
"Oh, I'm sure the boss will let her out." Herve said, trying to comfort him.
"What boss?" Asked Skip, snarkily.
A wagon pulled up at the front door. Herve motioned over to it. "That boss." Skip looked over. To his surprise, the man driving the wagon was none other than Preminger. Skip ducked behind Herve's ears, not wanting to be seen.
Preminger walked up to the door, opened by a very proud Jack. "Signed, sealed, and delivered, Master Preminger."
"Does she know I'm behind this?"
"No idea."
"Good. Keep her there until the wedding to King Nathan is canceled." Skip gasped. "Then, we'll see who the princess marries." Preminger turned from the door, laughing, before getting back on his horse and riding out into the woods.
"Oh, he is nasty. Just like his dog." Skip had to find a way in, to break Stephanie out. He looked up, seeing a chimney on the roof. It might be big enough for Skip to get through. "Think you could get me up to the roof?"
Herve looked up, nervous. "Oh, I don't know... it is pretty high up."
"You can do this, Herve, just count to three." Skip walked back onto Herve's rear, readying himself.
"One..."
Skip drew his claws.
"Two..."
He plunged them into Herve's rear, launching him into the air, and onto the roof. Skip looked down. "Thank you, Herve." Skip hopped onto the chimney's edge. He looked down it, filled with soot. "A man's got to do what a man's got to do." Skip jumped down the chimney, before rolling out in front of a pleasantly surprised, if not confused, Stephanie. He was covered in soot, grey from head to toe.
"Skip?" She asked, a small laugh in her voice.
Skip buried his head in his paws. "I am simply not going to look at myself."
