A Noise in the Night - Prologue
It was the first night of all, the very first rising of the moon, a new moon, only the frame of the orb glowing, when the first Noise came. The Four Elements strained their ears, barely believing that somewhere already, on this world that they had just created, something had screamed. Sky didn't know what to make of it. He shrugged his softly rippling blue-gray shoulders and purred,
"Perhaps our world is alive already." But Fire was not so sure. She narrowed her fiery amber eyes and hissed back,

"Why, no! It appears even our sky is alive already!" the blueish tom purred, tail twitching in excitement. "How lovely!"
"No, Sky." Earth, eldest of the Four, growled. "What good is our world if we lose control? Let us sleep now, and when Fire's sun rises, we shall see who it was who changed the sky." The other Elements bowed their heads, practically falling asleep before they hit the ground. Earth stood a little ways apart from the others, his broad head held high as he gazed at the lone star. "There cannot be a power so great in our world. It will ruin us. Just like it always has..."
