Pikachu from Afar

Pun intended.

By the way, thanks to @RubyRed883 for inspiring Snivy's name in this book. She suggested the name Five, a reference to Lloyd's hoodie. I decided to name him Cinq though since the Snivy line is heavily inspired by France, and cinq means five in French.

Also, if you didn't know, in Kanto, a character named Bill is an inventor/scientist. When you first go into his lab, you only find a Nidoran. He later tells you that because of an experiment gone wrong, he turned himself into a Pokemon. So yeah, plots like that are canon in the Pokemon Universe.

Anyways, here's when the rest of the characters will start joining the main team.

Third POV

"Woah, you're taller than I thought. Did you reach puberty or something?" Jay said.

Lloyd and Cyrus looked at each other. It didn't take long for him to start freaking out.

"You're a Pikachu!" yelled Lloyd, turning to Cyrus. "You did this to him!"

He pushed his wheelchair closer to the now broken machine, examining the back in particular. "Ah, I see," he turned back to them, nervously fidgeting with his hands. "It seems that the ice shard has been ripped to pieces.

"Ice shard?" said Lloyd, picking Jay up. "Why would you need an ice shard for a machine?"

"Well, it's a special gear an old friend once gave to me years ago. It powers up the machine, I can't fix it without it."

"Can't you just go to his house and get another one?" Jay said.

"He lives up in the mountains, it would be too dangerous to fly up there. You will have to go on foot."

"Great..." Lloyd sighed. "We'll bring a shard back to you. Let's go, Jay."

They left without another word, Lloyd even more pissed than Jay. Since he also had to carry Candy and Wisp, they all tried to fit in. Lloyd held Jay in his arms while Candy sat on his shoulder, with Wisp following him on the ground. Once they finally got back to the gym, Kai and Nya were already waiting for them, both holding sleeping bags and food in their hands.

He approached them awkwardly, though they greeted them with a smile.

"Oh, you're back," said Nya, dropping the bags. She noticed the Pikachu and smiled. "And who's this cutie?" she took him from Lloyd's arms, booping his nose.

"That's... Jay."

They both looked at him confused.

Jay waved with a sheepish smile. "Hey?"

Nya gasped, immediately dropping him. "We told you you shouldn't trust those machines!"

"I know, I know!" he said. "He... fused with this Pikachu and now we have to go up to the mountains for some stupid ice shard!"

"Well, we don't know where these mountains are..." Kai finally spoke up. "The only person that could possibly help us right now is..." he sighed, gesturing at the poster. "Cole."

"Oh, I can go talk to him!" Jay exclaimed.

"You will zip your mouth. We can't let everyone freak out over a talking Pikachu," said Nya, taking him in her arms with a glare.

"I heard you were planning on taking on Cole," a voice said from the Gym's entrance. "My son is not up for conversations unless it involves a fellow trainer."

"But sir, we need to speak to him!" Kai said.

"Don't ruin his last day as a trainer," the man said, going back inside.

"Great, just great," Kai said. "Think you can defeat him? We'll be watching from the stands."

"I think so..." he took out Sinvy's Pokeball. "Cinq will help against his rock-types."

"Cinq?" they all said.

"What? I liked the name," he said. "Come on, let's head inside."

The moment they went inside, they noticed two doors. Kai, Nya, Jay and Wisp went to the second door which led to the stands. Lloyd, meanwhile, went to the arena immediately. There, he saw the buff, black-haired boy organising his Pokeballs.

He looked around the Gym, which practically looked like a cave. his friends, along with some other spectators were sitting on the stands, cheering him on. Well, Jay wasn't allowed to talk, Nya kept silencing him whenever they got weird looks from other trainers.

"Oh, I didn't hear you coming in," said Cole. "So, how many badges have you got?"

"Um, none..." he said, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Shame," he sighed. "And I wanted to use Machamp on my last day... Oh well, let's fight!"

He picked out two Pokeballs from his bag, sending one of them out. "Go, Dusclops!"

Suddenly, a round, humanoid Pokemon came out of the ball. A ghost type, two wispy grey growths were coming out of its head. Its single round, red eye stared at him blankly.

Hesitating, Lloyd ordered Candy to go in the front.

"A normal type, huh?" Cole said. "Pretty good for a rookie. Didn't expect you to know about immunities," he continued. "That doesn't mean I don't have any tricks up my sleeve. Dusclops, Thunder Punch!"

Suddenly, his Pokemon charged at Candy, bolts of lightning coming out of his fist. She luckily avoided the attack. "Use Bite!" yelled Lloyd.

Candy immediately responded, biting Dusclops' still electric hand. Their attacks both hit each other, though because hers was super-effective, she was the only one to make it out without fainting. Lloyd looked at the screen that displayed their Health Points. The Dusclops had fainted, though Candy was left with barely any health left.

Quickly, he put her back in his Pokeball, sending out Cinq. Cole sent out his second and final Pokemon too. Out came a canine-like Pokemon, a small cream-coloured dog with lowered ears. Around its neck was a ruff of greyish-white fur stubbed with dark brown pebbles, as its blue eyes glared at the both of them with fury.

"Let's go Rocky, Stone Edge!" Cole said, and before he knew it, rocks sprouted from the ground, damaging Cinq.

"Razor Leaf!" Lloyd yelled. Cinq suddenly shot sharp leaves at the Rockruff, lowering its HP down to half. Seeing his HP was low, he had only one option left.

"Giga drain!" A beam of light came from Cinq's mouth as it hit the Rockruff. He started absorbing his Health, dropping his Health Points down to zero as Cinq's only rose.

With Rockruff fainted, Cole returned him to his Pokeball. His friends were cheering from the crowd. Cole, along with his friends started approached him, but before he could, yet another glow came from Cinq. As the light faded away, another Pokemon was revealed. It was a more mature version of Snivy, having a yellow V-shaped structure that started at his chest and extended behind the shoulders.

"He evolved into Servine!" Jay exclaimed, making Cole turn his head.

"Jay?"

"So, you see..." he started. "Basically, Cyrus turned me into a Pikachu and now we need your help to go to the mountains and grab a shard from his old friend."

"I see..." said Cole. "Anyways, here's your first badge," he handed him the rock-shaped pin. "Just give me a sec to heal my Pokemon and you're set."

"We'll wait outside," said Kai.

"Oh, and Jay?" Cole suddenly turned around. He discreetly gestured at Nya, who was still holding Jay. He smirked, giving him a knowing look.

Jay shook his tail, shaking his head. "Not now, Cole," he said behind greeted teeth.

"Oh well," he said. "See you in a minute."

I really wanted to name his Machamp Rocky since, you know, the movie, but it suited Rockruff more because Rocky in the show basically acts like a dog...

C ya!
